Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The location and hospitality of the personnel. The house is open (no windows, nothing) but sleeping there was great, hearing the sounds from the forest (from inside the mosquito net). We did a few tours with Kerley and that was great. He is calm, very knowledgeable and great with kids. We also went horse riding in the direct environment, through the village, along (and through) the river and into the jungle. An amazing experience. The family that takes care of Amazonita is sweet and warm, they made us feel very welcome. We were sad to leave.

SwitzerlandThe mosquito nets had holes in them. No-one cleaned so after 5 days of 4 people using the toilet and putting the toilet tissue in a bin (as is expected in costa rica) it got very smelly despite me cleaning the "room" myself. Old wine bottles and beer cans from previous visitors just stacked behind the kitchen. We booked breakfast but the lovely young man running the place "slept in" so we had to wait an hour. But - like i said - jungle living was an experience I will never forget for only fabulous reasons.
Whilst we all loved the experience of staying here and wouldnt change it, it was not what we expected in terms of accommodation and we wouldnt re-book. The experience of the jungle was priceless and we loved the jungle living but the accommodation was not as it is advertised and the people "looking after us" were (whilst very nice) a bunch of young lads because the owner was away.

ItalyThe only thing i can mention is that nobody speaks any English but only Spanish
The lodges are very pretty and fully equipped of everything you need. The forest is amazing and it is a cool experience to sleep in it. The your owner is very nice, always kind and friendly like his family. You can have breakfast and dinner cooked by them and the food is simple but very good. The road to get there is doable with 4x4 wheels car.

Open design of cabins so you can see the rainforest from inside Beautiful forest views Very peaceful. Lovely staff to give information and tell you the history of the community Great food inc breakfast and dinner Good access to forest trails and walks with or without a guide .

United KingdomBeing there over Christmas with some unseasonably wet weather we weren't able to get our clothes dry having washed them, since the staff weren't always about to assist (they'd quite understandably taken some time off). Normally I suspect this wouldn't have been an issue. And the +ves outweighed this minor inconvenience.
Being right in the jungle and able to watch toucans, macaws and motmots from a deck chair with no windows between us and the forest was great. We had hummingbirds flying through the kitchen - what's not to like? It might be a bit wild for some but it was just what we wanted.

CanadaThis kind of lodging was a new concept for us, but it was hands down the best place we stayed in in Costa Rica. It feels like you sleep in the heart of rain forest and yet you have the comfort of the hotel. We had a bit of a hard time with the water heater in the shower, it sort of worked, but other than that it was amazing.

United StatesJust be aware that there is no hot water but ambient temperature is pretty warm already ;)
Being so close to nature. Quiet. Isolated with a great view of the jungle and valley. Good food at the restaurant with a lovely staff. Kerley was a great guide for our amazing excursion to La Sirena! Loved our walk along the river to find the natural pools near the lodge. Used the kitchen once for a simple dinner to watch the sunset.

United StatesThe remoteness calls for a 4WD. Have to walk the luggage up a small incline to reach the cabins. Although the caretakers spoke very little English we were able to get by and enjoyed our stay.
The location was very remote (in the middle of the rainforest). Will need a 4WD for the last sections of the drive especially if it is raining. The caretakers were hospitable and the meals simple and delicious. Lots of wildlife around. True jungle experience.

SwitzerlandFirst off these aren't really negative points at all. Just some things that might help you decide if you want to come here There's no internet or cell service. The bungalows are open, there's no windows or insect screens. We didn't really get insects in our bungalow but there was a bat family living on the wall. The sounds of the jungle take some getting used to. Waking up in the morning and seeing / hearing the jungle come to life from your bed is amazing however! If you're traveling without a car like we did everything is a bit more complicated since you need a taxi for most trips.
The location is outstanding! You're surrounded by beautiful nature and since there's only 3 bungalows you get plenty of privacy as well. Nothing better than lying in the hammock just watching the trees around you. The local guide Kerley is fantastic and we highly recommend you book his tour that starts at the hotel, it was the best tour we did during our stay im Costa Rica! This is a very special place!

Where to begin... it feels like its out of this world. Pure, authentic Costa Rica. The owner received us with open arms. He is a real character, was a good laugh! And then we met William and Zulay the couple that manage the houses, lovely lovely people. Zulay cooks very good! Delicioso! The house up on a hill is breathtaking, stairway to heaven and everything you need is in it. What an experience to sleep amongst the jungle residents. The people in the village are so friendly and visit the little pulperia. The owner will tell you about the gold they find there ( dos Brazos is a gold miners village). Unfortunately we had a flat tire but the owner immediately helped us and William changed it for us. The night tour with Kerley is also to be recommended. We saw a lot of animals and an owl was screeching in the night. Lovely! If you are looking for a special off the grid place: go to Amazonita lodge! Its wonderful.

United StatesNot a big deal, but just FYI no wifi in the cabana, spotty wifi at the restaurant, but great wifi at the Parque HQ in Dos Brazos 300 m away.
A beautiful, private and airy wood cabana with tile floors, perched on a hill with a spectacular view out over the rainforest. Dawn serenades you with the bird and howler monkey chorus, as you sip tea/coffee and swing in the porch hammock. An aerie retreat after a long hike on the easily accessible trails into Corcovado NP. Zulay was amazingly generous and accommodating, cooking vegetarian meals for us, including a foot long sandwich for our to-go picnic lunch.

CanadaWe stayed in Casa Zenon, which included an outdoor kitchen, for which we paid $20 extra per night. On our arrival, we saw that one burner on the three-burner hot plate was marked as not working. We quickly discovered, when trying to boil water for tea, that the other burners were malfunctioning and burning inside the unit. Fortunately, a staff member was on site, assessed the situation, and disabled the hot plate. This left us without the ability to boil a kettle or cook until it was replaced the next day with a "new" old unit. On our second day it became obvious that the refrigerator was not cooling adequately, and we were unable to adjust the setting to colder. By the third day, it had stopped cooling, and our food was spoiling. However, neither the manager nor any staff were at the property to deal with the situation. As there is no wifi at the property and no signal for data, we went to the community centre to use the free wifi available there to contact the manager. However the wifi was not working, which apparently is not uncommon, leaving us with no way to contact staff to either repair or replace the refrigerator. We decided that we could not stay at Amazonita the next night with our food spoiled, and no support from staff in dealing with the situation. But again, we had no way to contact staff or Booking.com to notify them that we had to leave early. Communication prior to our arrival at Amazonita was great, and they shared an informative online Welcome Book. But after our arrival, we were on our own. The manager was never on site during our stay, and we could not contact him. There is no wifi or signal for data. William and Zulay, the couple that seem to do all the work, are not always present. Communication was also an issue when we wanted to confirm tours that we had pre-booked. Fortunately Zulay was able to contact Kerley to come to the site the evening of our arrival to confirm our schedule and start times.
The tours that we took were run by enthusiastic and professional guides. We went horseback riding along the Rio Tigres to a local swimming spot. We also saw lots of amphibians and bugs during the night hike, and a great variety of birds during the birdwatching tour. These tours were the highlight of our stay in Dos Brazos.
