I stayed here towards the end of my trip and had a great time. The suites are a little dated but besides that everywhere is clean and the staff are very kind. I was able to get my laundry back within two hours which was great as I was leaving the next day. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance and the neighbourhood is quiet in the evenings. You are also very close to the main historical district (13mins in a taxi).

They really should go back to buffet. Now there are silly annoyances, such as, if I want a pat of butter, I have to wait for someone to bring it to me! In the past, I could have two bowls of fruit, and one scoop of eggs, this time I had to have a predesigned breakfast and snack once I last visited, the sausage meat has changed, so that they are kind of like hotdogs. I was given these and I couldn’t possibly have eaten them. I would never have chosen them to put on my plate had it been a buffet, so, I wasted food. One of the things that I love about this hotel is that they are very ego, conscious and friendly, they recycle everything!

I have been coming to this hotel for over 20 years. The atmosphere is quaint yet sophisticated. The rooms and sweeps are extremely comfortable and well designed and the pool is crystal clear .Even though time in between us, sometimes five years! The one change that they made is that they used to have a buffet breakfast and now they have waiters. personally, I enjoy choosing my own food because I waste less that way.

The neighborhood was not that great. But inside the hotel you will not notice that. It's a short taxi ride to the city center though, but not much going on there.

Just a tip: the Italian restaurant next door is fantastic!! Great pool, amazing breakfast, super friendly staff. All in all a great start of the holiday.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The full breakfast in the morning is delicious and a great value. Fruit, yoghurt, toast, eggs made to order, juice, coffee and tea all included. Safe location close to downtown and great restaurants within walking distance. Nice pool

The property is beautiful! Tucked away off the main road, but still close to downtown and the central market. The staff here are fabulous, very helpful. Our rooms (we stayed twice) were perfect, very spacious and comfortable for a group of 4. The pool is wonderful, the food is delicious (try the Refresher smoothie! SO GOOD) and they have a sauna on site. 10/10, would highly recommend staying with La Sábana in San Jose, Costa Rica!

Our room was close to the laundry so you could hear the machines at night, BUT this was not a huge issue.

Loved the pool and reception staff, little restaurant and breakfast. Everyone was very eager to please and we were lucky with the weather! Slightly out of town but Uber was readily available and affordable.
