Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI really liked the restaurant. Some good choices and very beautiful location. The trails around the property are fantastic, we did it during the day by ourselves and again with a guide for the night frog tour -- which was excellent. Also don't miss the butterfly dome. While we saw some butterflies out in nature, they were not as abundant as I expected so I was glad to be able to visit this dome.

United KingdomI would have preferred a buffet breakfast but that’s just my personal preference.
Incredible location, surrounded by nature. Go to sleep with the sounds of the frogs and toads and wake up to the howler monkeys. I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone who loves being immersed in nature. I highly recommend the night walk and getting up early for the birds.

United StatesIt's difficult to leave the facilities with not many other restaurants or resources within easy walking distance. However, the on-site food is awesome and there were plenty of things to do to keep busy when not on excursions off-site
The separate cabins were lovely and surrounded by nature. They were spacious and comfortable. The on-site restaurant and bar was really fabulous with great cocktails and food options. The nature trails and butterfly dome are something that everyone should take the time to enjoy!

United StatesI didn’t like slipping on the tile in the rain right in front of the bungalow. I injured my shoulder, but other than that everything was great.
Breakfast was excellent love the wildlife that visited while we were having morning coffee. The setting was beautiful and super alive with nature, which is exactly what I wanted.

United KingdomLovely lodges in gorgeous 'jungle' surroundings. Somewhat rustic, but that is surely the appeal. Food was good and reasonably varied, with staff in the restaurant exceptional. Birds are fed next to restaurant, so great bird-watching. Also saw sloth in grounds (please beware some other unscrupulous hotels which physically move sloths into their gardens for tourists). We did the frog tour - cheaper if you book at reception as a guest - which was well worth it. Good location, a couple of miles outside La Fortuna. Easy access to wherever by taxi. Opposite is a great place for coffee and chocolate tours. It is very damp at this time of year (July), and useful to have launderette option on site as nothing dries!

United StatesThe bungalows were comfortable and cozy. Just the essentials and just what we needed for a night in the rain forest. The windows just had screens on them and so we were able to hears the sounds of the forest at night. Restaurant on property was a bonus, too.

CanadaThe bathroom shower was odd and hard to get in, a minor detail.
The cabins, hearing the jungle and the rain, the restaurant, the butterfly dome, the staff, the trails. One early morning I saw a tigrillo.

United StatesWifii only worked on the front porch. We knew there wouldn't be air conditioning but it was still comfortable to sleep. It was was difficult to dry clothing due to the humidity but we expected that.
The rooms and grounds exceeded my expectations. The hiking trails were beautiful. We lived the natural environment. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant had great breakfast in the morning for free. We ate dinner once and it was good, affordable food. Not overpriced. The laundry service was much appreciated. Staff were friendly and attentive.

United StatesWe would have liked more hooks to hang wet clothes to dry in the room. It was the rainy season so that would have been super helpful.
The location of the lodge as well as the wonderful trails on site was exactly what we were looking for. The personal cabins with a porch rocking chair were truly delightful. We awoke to howler monkeys outside our door. We enjoyed the night hike and would recommend that.

United StatesRemote feeling, on site restaurant was good for included breakfast. Staff very pleasant. A small Soda just 350 steps from property.
Truly an eco lodge environment. We had two cabins with 3 family members in each. Comfortable and quiet, except for the howler monkeys. Very cool, though.

United StatesThere wasn't adequate lighting in the bathrooms over the sink area. The beds were too hard. Otherwise, the lodge is great.
The breakfast was well presented and there was the usual selection of choices. Fruit was especially fresh and well-presented. Excellent fruit drinks, and a very good dinner restaurant as well! The cabins were clean and fairly free of insect life (considering the jungle surroundings), and all the amenities were good, although the beds were as hard as a rock. The hotel is in a lovely jungle location with its own garden and butterfly dome.

United StatesWonderful! Our goal was to enjoy as much nature as possible and we were able to accomplish it easy at Arenal Oasis. The rooms/cabins are very simple, but all you’re doing is sleeping there. We enjoyed sitting on the porch, watching monkeys and birds and listening to the sounds of the rainforest. Breakfast was delicious! We did 2 tours with the property: the night tour and the bird watching. I’d recommend both! Both guides had a true passion for wildlife and the environment around them. Plus they took super high quality photos of the wildlife we saw on each tour that they later sent us. Pro tip: If you book through the property once you arrive, they have discounted prices for their tours. Truly magical. The property is also very close to the rest of La Fortuna so there’s super easy access to other restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores and attractions. We stayed 2 days but would have stayed more if our itinerary allowed. DO NOT let the rainy season in CR dissuade you from visiting. Yes, it rains every day but most of the afternoon rains pass quickly.

United StatesOne of the best places I’ve stayed in Costa Rica after years of visiting. The cabin was perfect and very spacious for me, my friend and her 6 year old daughter. All of the beds were very comfortable, the showers were great, and even though there was no AC we were more than comfortable with the breeze through the open windows. We especially enjoyed the grounds here and spent a lot of time in the butterfly dome. It was really an incredible experience for us adults and for the kid. The staff was more than friendly and had so much patience for the kid even though she was being a little wild at some points.

United KingdomRooms are quite dark inside and don’t offer clear views of the surrounding nature.
Great location for exploring the area, with nature right on site so you can enjoy activities without leaving the lodge. The restaurant was good, and the included breakfast was generous and tasty. Rooms were very spacious, and the staff were incredibly lovely and welcoming.

United KingdomWe booked Arenal Oasis Eco Lodge last minute and were so happy we did! The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, making us feel welcome right away. The lodge itself is beautiful — it truly feels like you’re staying in the middle of the jungle. The gardens are stunning, and the butterfly garden, which is included in the price, was a wonderful bonus and a great experience. It’s the perfect place for nature lovers looking for an authentic and peaceful escape. We highly recommend it!

United StatesI am undecided whether the cost equaled what we got overall. Beds were a little hard, ok for us but others may not like them. Light comes in at sunrise so don't expect to sleep in,although that seems to be the norm as far as we have seen here.
Lovely little cabins. Quiet area but not far at all from grocery store, coffee shop ect. Cabins were clean, screened windows, bathroom clean, safe in room that worked, cold minifridge. Breakfast was average, nothing amazing but fresh, didn't eat at the restaurant otherwise. Night tour was great for all ages. Butterfly dome was fun. They did have a water filter system on a tap at the main reception which was a welcome surprise.
