How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The music at the pool was so loud it could be heard in the hotel room. The food lacked variety and was not flavorful. The staff was not very attentive when it came to the main restaurant. Oftentimes when you asked for water or even a glass, it would never come.

My husband and I are in our 70's and they put us in a room on the third floor of a building with no elevator. Also, there wasn't much attention paid to the buffet-no spoons for the fruit, burnt toast sitting in front of the toaster oven, and the pancakes were just awful.

Verified reviewThe property is very nice, in a very safe for family especially with children, secluded location, right in front of the beach. The food was very good and had a lot of variety. We really like the Japanese restaurant and Italian. The staffs were excellent and very friendly provided great service. The food there was so good. However, you would need to make reservations ahead of time. The Italian restaurant was only opened on Friday to Sunday, so keep that in mind. The sauna was very nice too. I only found out on the last day so I only used it once but I felt very relaxed and refreshed after using it.
The only thing we didn’t like is there is no elevator in our building. It’s only one floor so it wasn’t a big problem for us. Just need to mention it the message that you want a room in a building that has elevator.

Verified reviewThe location is great. Tucked away from busy Tamarindo but close enough to walk into town. Its about a mile and half walk. Easier to rent a golf cart. The wait staff, kitchen staff, and security guards are all very nice and accommodating.
Over priced for the amenities. Hot tub that is not hot. The rooms are old and dated but they are clean. Kind of small for what we had to pay. . The front desk girls are rude. They seemed bothered if we asked them for help with anything.

Verified reviewThe check-in process was very long, as there was a huge line to check-in and get keys right at the check-in time. But the staff was very nice and attentive once you reached the front. The food is really good, but again, there can be lines, but if you go at a different time than everyone else, then you can avoid the lines. We were sad there was no show on the night we were there, even though it said there was a show. Also, there were no activities specifically for kids, even though the schedule showed kids activities. The only activities that happened that I saw was some pool dancing.fitness, and some games set up by the pool (darts and mini golf hole). The room was really nice and the beach is beautiful - right out front! You can cross the little stream and walk along a lovely long beach (playa langosta) with lots of sand dollars. Incredible sunset beach.
The cost to add a child/person to the reservation at the hotel was a lot more expensive than adding it on booking.com. So I had to cancel my booking on booking.com and re-book on the website to get the better price. The lines to check-in can be very long if tour group comes same day as you. Some of the activities and entertainment they advertise on their schedule do not happen.

Unfortunately, our experience at this resort was disappointing. The drinks were weak and not enjoyable, and the food was just average. The cleanliness of the rooms was a major issue — some sheets and towels were dirty, and housekeeping was rarely available. We were given only two towels for three people and couldn’t get more, no matter how many times we asked. The rooms were humid and hot, with poor lighting, and the phones never worked. We also had to deal with spiders all over and even crabs inside the room (first-floor unit). Overall, the accommodations felt neglected and uncomfortable. The only slightly redeeming part was the activities — they were okay, but I’ve seen much better at other resorts. Definitely not the relaxing or enjoyable stay we hoped for. I wouldn’t go back to this resort

Check in personnel was very rough and unfriendly. This is not a beach hotel. The picture you show in booking is NOT what the beach is like. It’s all rocks as you can see in the picture. The beach you see in the ads is an estuary with red tide flags. No place in the room to hang the bath towels or the wet swimming suits. No personnel trash cans in the pool area so if you grab a place that has been used you have to walk with other’s people trash a long distance to dispose of it. No protection against flies in the dining room. At least should have a basket for the bread. Only one hand towel per room even with 4 guests.

The property needs to be updated. They need more restaurants. They need more bars and more activities. They need their own shuttle. Transportation will pay $810 and all all inclusive and it’s only worth $100. I can’t say the buffet was good. you have anything bad to eat in there we’ll never be back to that hotel.

The quality of the all inclusive drinks is average at best, they use cheap liquors for drinks. Some areas of the hotel are showing their age. Pathways get a little slippery when it rains, so be careful.

Verified reviewThe food served for breakfast, lunch and dinner was great all the time! cocktail bar at the reception was very good as well.
The place is advertised as a five-star establishment, but it's far from perfect. The drinks made at the ranch bar are not made with measures, if you wanted "good quality" drinks you needed to go to the one at the reception, which had a special schedule. The ranch bar has a wide list of options for drinks, but the reality is that they have limited options because of the lack of ingridients to prepare the drink, either they ran out of the required alcohol, or other ingredients. The quality of the liquor used for the drinks isn't the best. For example, they have decorations with good brands like Absolut Vodka, but when making the drinks they use a lower quality one. The first night the shower was not working properly, but it got fixed the next day. The place doesn't have the necessary staff to keep up with breakfast, lunch, and dinner times. They welcome too many people for the limited staff.

Verified reviewClean facility, at the very end of town, so it was quiet. Also right on the beach. Easy to dip in the ocean or take a nice quiet stroll. We were there three nights, which gave us the opportunity to try one of the restaurants included in the price.
It was very hard for us, a group of 18, to book in the restaurant for all of us - no table could seat more than 4. It was not possible to do tables of six or eight we were told. After adjusting the time, because we could only be seated outside at this size group, we get one table for all - wonderful….except there was a scheduled show, right outside, with loud music. We had not been told, and, as it was our first time here we could neither know about the outside stage being right by the outside restaurant terrass. Luckily the staff at the restaurant worked with us to move inside! Which by the way was practically empty and had lots of space!

Verified reviewWe were there only one night since we had rented a house and had to move out on Saturday, our flight home was Sunday morning. Tried to have dinner, one restaurant was closed the other was booked. Had asked for our luggage to be brought down at 5:45., the guy knocked on our door at 4:45. Early wake up for sure.

Verified reviewOn arrival check in was smooth. The bellboy helped with our luggage. Parking was free. The best parts of this hotel are its location, it’s in a quieter part of town. The beach is a mix of a rocky section and then a sandy section, there’s a river that flows between the end of the property and a national preserve. During low tide it’s possible to cross over the river and you have endless untouched beach to enjoy. Quiet, beautiful. The hotel buildings are surrounded by lush landscaping, beautiful birds. The lobby is open and breezy , with nice live music in the early evenings.
The pool is spacious. There’s a hot tub area but it’s not very warm not are the jets that impressive. They had a fun water aerobics /dance class. Some other games (ping pong,etc) exist around the pool. The playground is small but sufficient. The kids club is a joke. A small outdoor play area with very little activities. You can’t drop your kids there. The entertainment was pretty good (staff did various games and sports, evening band, and one show a night). However some of the scheduled items didn’t exist or started late (twice the kids mini disco just didn’t occur) The food was the worst part. Breakfast was okay but lunch and dinner buffet did not look appetizing at all. The afternoon snack bar near the pool was really bad. Burgers which ran out often, tons of fried food that didn’t even taste good (French fries, fried chips, chicken nuggets, chips and beans) and some sad looking fruit . We got one dinner at their Al la carte Italian restaurant which was nice meal. Otherwise we tended to walk up the street to local delicious restaurants for lunch and dinner . Also if you have young kids , note that the hours of lunch and dinner start late (12:30,19:30).
