    All was good!

Laura is very welcoming and gave us many tips for activities around the accommodation. For example, we visited a cacao farm and the national park Volcán Tenorio. Our room was pretty large, and well furnished. The clear highlight of our stay was the amazing garden, where we could find many of our favorite animals such as a sloth and several frogs! The breakfast was also very good. We can only recommend you to stay here!

I booked it as free breakfast which didn't exist. Breakfast was 10. Per person

Extremely friendly owners son met us at our car with a umbrella. When we asked him about laundry, his Mom offered to wash our clothing for 10. and we got them back washed and dried the next morning. We enjoyed our breakfast in the outdoor dining space. Cooked just for us

    Nothing. Everything was great.

Truly a gem. Beautifully situated off the main road so it is quiet but close enough to walk to the supermarket and the center of town. You really feel close to nature, without being in the jungle. The hotel itself is really well maintained and has a cozy atmosphere. The rooms are clean, well equipped, nice comfy beds and pillows, we really slept well. The breakfast is absolutely delicious and plentiful. There is a little short "frog walk" right next to the parking lot, that is part of the hotel, where you can see frogs. The staff is really great as well. Laura speaks English fluently and is always eager to help, without actually selling you anything like some other hotels. She helped arrange a pretty last minute night walk tour, called and made reservations for us for the Chocolate Tour, recommended an awesome and inexpensive local restaurant, and in general provided a ton of helpful information about the area. That is besides the fact that she is just an awesome person to talk to. I would highly recommend staying here and enjoying the less touristy Rio Celeste.

Is a simple structure without real facilities but really not expensive.

The calm area in town, the proximity to a new small family-run restaurant, the spacious rooms. The breakfast area is also welcomingly shabby-chic looking and the fruit portions generous. Great value for money. Charming, smiling and welcoming hosts.

A beautiful small hotel in the "forest". Everything, especially, the breakfast area is surrounded by trees, plants, flowers. Amazing place. Breakfast was rich and tasty. The manager is extremely kind and speaks excellent English. Room was huge and WIFI was fast. They have private parking. Close to town and to a few restaurants.

The breakfast was minimal, but sufficient.

Our stay at Kakao Lodge was lovely! The staff were exteremly welcoming and helpful, and the surroundings beautiful. They had a lovely garden full of plants and animals, and having breakfast with the tropical birds was magical. It is only a 20minute drive from Rio Celeste, so the location is great. Still in town, but quiet and personal.

Johnny was the best host that you can imagine. He knows a lot about animals and is very helpful. He recommends nice places where you can do activitys around the area. Especially the night tour and the cacao tour are very nice. The hotel has a small garden with a lots of animals. You can see tucans and frogs around the area. The rooms are nice and clean and the breakfast is very good. This place is definitely an recomendation. It was the nicest place where we have been so far in Costa Rica.

We stayed here for 1 night but wished we could have stayed longer. Johnny (I think he is the owner or manager), could not have been more hospitable. He welcomed us with a coffee and snacks after a long journey from Nicaragua. He arranged a room with 2 single beds into a double room with air conditioning even though the hotel was busy. He also helped us with transport and recommendations for activities, as well as showing and telling us about all the wildlife that surrounds the hotel. He is so kind. The hotel is very cute and comfortable. The breakfast was filling and delicious, and you eat it whilst sat outside listening to the birds and nature. Would absolutely stay here again!

Great place to stay. The host was very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and clean. Beds varied in comfort - one was a little too soft but fine for one night. Bathroom was a good size. The garden out front was beautiful!! The typical Costa Rican breakfast was delicious! The homemade tortillas were a hit with my family.

Water in the showers was not consistently hot and would keep fluctuating temperature across all the 3 rooms we booked.

Johnny is very pleasant and welcoming. One of the rooms did not have hot water - so he helped us move rooms. Rooms were spacious, clean and well lit. Breakfast was great with a variety of fruits, pancakes/toast, eggs, handmade fresh tortillas, rice with beans, fresh juice, tea/coffee. Johnny also recommended the nearby restaurant called YeYes - which had really great authentic Costa Rican food at reasonable prices. We saw a lot of beautiful birds at the property. We had a rental car and it is just 20 mins drive to Rio Celeste and less than 5 minutes to get to any local grocery or supermarket.

We initially stayed in a bedroom on the ground floor which was very humid and moldy (bedsheets and towels were wet), the ceilings were covered in mold and the humidity smell was very strong. This is surely due to the humid and rainy weather but this room cannot be used as it is. Johnny was very understanding and changed room the next morning

Johnny was really lovely and helpful, he showed us around the garden to find frogs and wildlife! The breakfast in the garden was amazing, great food generously served and a beautiful show of birds every morning, including toucans. The bedroom we had upstairs was nice and clean, with air conditioning and hot shower
