Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe only drawback is to get there you have to go up a steep hill for 200-300 meters. So either you have to take a car/bike, or it's a challenging hike. And there's no Uber in town (technically, it works but never finds any drivers).
It's a fantastic spot if you want to retreat from the noise for the night. They have a really nice outside area with a pool, and the inside is nicely designed, spacious, and comfortable.

MexicoThe stairs to go to the beds on the first floor are steep and kind of scary to get down from. Because the place is located up a hill you need a car or motorbike during your stay. It’s too far and steep to walk.
Nice place with a nice balcony. Staff was very friendly. Loved the balcony. Would come back to this place!

United StatesThe rooms smelled a little smoky and the toilet needs an update (cannot throw TP into it). Shampoo, conditioner and body soap could be better. The kitchen cabinet doors are difficult to open and close. A lot of care in constructing the property and wonderful architectural features, but with a little updating, it can return to what it once was. Intentions seemed like for a yoga retreat, but no classes or services really offered. The hill to get to the property is rocky, muddy, steep, and narrow. You need 4x4 or ATV and be comfortable navigating unpaved roads. The street was used fairly often.
Beautiful property, feel like you are in the rainforest with all the glass windows and folding glass doors. Jacuzzi and small pool, areas to relax. As part of your room, you have a porch with a bed swing and glass dining table. Curtains nicely give you privacy. Inside is a canopy bed on a platform and gorgeous shower with a glass wall with views of nature. There is a kitchen area, stocked with some dishes, pots, silverware. There is a propane burner for cooking. Quiet since we were always one of two guests (low season). Joel answered all our questions and tried hard to make our stay as perfect as possible. We enjoyed going into the jacuzzi and pool and listening to the bird songs. A monkey climbed onto the covered deck area and we spotted an iguana in a tree nearby from the lounger above the pool. You really feel immersed in the rainforest. You can open up the room to the outdoors by pulling back the accordion doors and windows. Down the road is Eat Street restaurant and not too far, Soda Tiquicia and Soda Pura Vida. Down the road, Taco Corner was really good and we ordered para llevar and took it to Playa Carmen. Beach is just a straight walk down the street. We liked that the property was away from the main drag and it felt intimate.

CanadaThere was a power cut during the night. Not a problem by itself, but there was no backup generator and it lasted all night. So no fans or airconditioning. They had am emergency light in the room in case of power cuts, so it seems like this happens regularly. Would expect at least a generator. There was no gas bottle for our cooker. The bed was very firm. The room next to us had a family in it and the sound proofing was not good enough. Woke up many times from one of the screaming kids.
The staff was very nice and the room was clean. Beautiful building and located in the middle of the rainforest. The road in was quite bad, but read about that before and was doable with a low clearance 4x4. The hot tub and swimming pool we're luxurious (a couple sharp edges underwater in the hot tub though. Cut my foot a bit). The room was spacious and beautiful with the large windows. We did see someone walk past above, so I'd close the curtains for some privacy. Would've really enjoyed the stay if it was quiet and if there was power.

Czech RepublicDusty roads, steep hill. You need to be a good driver to drive up the hill and park your car.
The hotel was amazing - relaxing vibe, calmness, amazing pool. Staff was really friendly. We would stay there again! :) The location is not for everyone. It is located in the forest, up in the steep hill. We were travelling with a group of friends (all around 30 y.o.) the walk up to the hotel was a nice workout, but we did not enjoy the dusty road. Overall, we would stay in the hotel again as the location is close by the street food (main road) and a nice beach spot. We have seen some nice birds / monkeys close by the hotel.

ThailandThe rooms could have been cleaner. There was a massive gap below the door of the room which invited many bugs to enter. Noise from other guests could be heard clearly due to the close proximity of the rooms to the pool and jacuzzi area. We had a bottom floor room and the patio offered little privacy and noise from the upstairs guests was astronomical. Getting up the hill was doable in a 4x4 SUV, but the provided parking area was tight enough to raise your blood pressure. Overall experience was not as chill and relaxing as the name suggests.
The property was very cute and is surrounded by nature and lush greenery. The pool is small but was nice during the day, and we were lucky enough to see a troop of capuchin monkeys stop by to get a drink of water from the pool. It is a 5-10 minute walk to the beach and restaurants along Santa Teresa. Extremely walkable area if you don't mind getting in some cardio when climbing back up the steep hill to the property.

GermanyCan’t say I didn’t liked it… but the way up to Canaima is challenging and steep at the end, 4x4 is necessary, walks up and down keep in shape. Be aware of the season, in dry seasons it can be very dusty, therefore be careful not to fall.
We had a wonderful stay at Canaima Chill House! The apartment was spacious and had everything we needed! The shower offers a nice view into the forest, a lot of beautiful birds passed by. The veranda was huge and had a swinging bed, perfect place to relax and read. There was even a connection to the kitchen (bar with chairs). The pool was clean and refreshing, once in a while we saw a small group of monkeys. The staff cleaned everything daily as there was a lot of dust swirled up from the dusty road. It didn’t bother us, it’s the season. In general, they were really helpful and taking care of everything.

United Kingdomit’s in a wild place up the hill and people complain about it but this wasn’t a problem for us. We used it for our exercise but we are young and healthy - if you have knee problems for example this could be a problem but you just need a car or quad. Also this is why sometimes there are leaves in the pool but it’s because it’s in pure nature - we saw monkeys
We loved the hotel - it’s super nice and comfy! You can cook your own meals and properly relax - there was a workers making sure everything clean - they were very friendly!! The rooms are amazing

CanadaThe big hill, walking up and down it takes only ten mins but it's dusty and lots of ATVs use it so it was not fun for my asthma. If you're planning to walk at night, bring a flashlight for additional safety so folk on the road can see you.

GermanyAlthough staff was very friendly, i believe the working hours are unusual. Only from 7:00-15:00 and if you need anything after that, its likely you will not get it. If this will be the case, at least leave access to extra towels or basic amenities (especially when a room was not serviced that day)
Very nice facilities. The pool and whirlpool were very nice as well as the chill area.

Cayman IslandsIt didn't bother me hugely, but there was a slight lack of privacy in the downstairs rooms. I was fine with the trek up the hill - but just be aware that there is one. No bother walking up with a backpack if you are used to that kind of thing. It's only a few minutes and brings you deeper into the forest. Frankly, it is some welcome exercise for those of us coming from a sedentary lifestyle. Very slight nit-picking about first-world problems, but I couldn't get the jacuzzi to work well, but that could be my own fault. Overall an enjoyable stay.
Truly unique and beautiful hotel. Feels like a lot of thought, effort and love has gone into the design. Cool waking up to the howling of the, well, howler monkeys lol. Genuinely very chilled atmosphere, properly up in the jungle, blissfully away from it all. Friendly and helpful, but non-intrusive, staff and owner, Joel and Juan, with useful tips. Great to have a kitchenette. A/c worked ok. The area and town feels safe, so no worries on that front. Arguably located on the busiest and best part of the Santa Teresa strip. Also, minutes away from the Nautilus yoga deck and a few more minutes to Believe lodge (with more yoga) Plunge pool was nice.

United KingdomWe loved staying here. The hotel is up the hill from the beach but it is walkable otherwise a 4x4 is needed. Once you arrive at the hotel you are in your own haven with a pool, jacuzzi and day beds to help you relax. The rooms are lovely with a hanging double bed and then two single beds in the loft accessible by a bamboo ladder. Joel went out of his way to be helpful and organised a whale watching and snorkelling my trip for us which was one of our highlights of our trip. Would definitely recommend.

NetherlandsThe kitchen utensils were a bit poor compared to the rest of the interior. But this was only a minor point of improvement. The road towards the appartement can be a little challenging but that’s part of the adventure.
It was located at a very nice spot and very well maintained. The interior and exterior was tastefully designed and gave a luxury feel. It was great to return after a hot day and cool off in the swimming pool or enjoy the hot tub. The service of the staff was adequate and prompt.
