It's a fantastic spot if you want to retreat from the noise for the night. They have a really nice outside area with a pool, and the inside is nicely designed, spacious, and comfortable.

The only drawback is to get there you have to go up a steep hill for 200-300 meters. So either you have to take a car/bike, or it's a challenging hike. And there's no Uber in town (technically, it works but never finds any drivers).

    Property response:

Thank you for your review. Thanks to being up that hill we are able to retreat from the noise. Pura vida

Nice place with a nice balcony. Staff was very friendly. Loved the balcony. Would come back to this place!

The stairs to go to the beds on the first floor are steep and kind of scary to get down from. Because the place is located up a hill you need a car or motorbike during your stay. It’s too far and steep to walk.

We liked the pool. Spacious rooms and a nice bathroom with a window. Cool relaxing areas around the pool.

Very difficult to get to. The road is very steep, muddy and under construction. Payment is strange since they say they charge your card for the first night automatically but then text you they only accept cash but nobody was at the reception. Now I am getting asked to send card info via WhatsApp.

The appartment is spacious and has all the basics. Bed is confortable. Swimming pool is nice. The employees are really kind and are keeping the place clean. I'm not putting a lower rate because of them.

The appartment is incredibly dark, it's definitely not like in the pictures. Maybe a change of the type of lights would improve that a lot. The road is maybe one of the worst we had to take during our 2 weeks in costa rica(1000km driving ), they told is they will do the road in the future but it doesn't change the fact that the road is pretty bad, maybe because of the rain and the many motos and atvs passing by. They also asked us to pay in cash, but it's said that they accept the credit cards... It's not soundproof nor smellproof, we could hear conversations and people cooking meat very early in the morning (all doors and windows were closed but there's a gap at the bottom... )

    Property response:

Hola Fleur, Thank you for staying with us and for your comments. We have not bright lights to keep the mosquito out of the room as mosquito can be atracked by bright lights but we will consider it. We are sorry that you had to found us in the process of making the new pave road and we were delayed by the rain but soon we will have a pave road so all cars can be driven up the hill and on the other hand we prefer cash but also card payment is possible if it is requested a card payment. We will do the improvements in order to have more privacy in the rooms regarding sounds and smell. Thank you so much for staying with us.

Beautiful property, feel like you are in the rainforest with all the glass windows and folding glass doors. Jacuzzi and small pool, areas to relax. As part of your room, you have a porch with a bed swing and glass dining table. Curtains nicely give you privacy. Inside is a canopy bed on a platform and gorgeous shower with a glass wall with views of nature. There is a kitchen area, stocked with some dishes, pots, silverware. There is a propane burner for cooking. Quiet since we were always one of two guests (low season). Joel answered all our questions and tried hard to make our stay as perfect as possible. We enjoyed going into the jacuzzi and pool and listening to the bird songs. A monkey climbed onto the covered deck area and we spotted an iguana in a tree nearby from the lounger above the pool. You really feel immersed in the rainforest. You can open up the room to the outdoors by pulling back the accordion doors and windows. Down the road is Eat Street restaurant and not too far, Soda Tiquicia and Soda Pura Vida. Down the road, Taco Corner was really good and we ordered para llevar and took it to Playa Carmen. Beach is just a straight walk down the street. We liked that the property was away from the main drag and it felt intimate.

The rooms smelled a little smoky and the toilet needs an update (cannot throw TP into it). Shampoo, conditioner and body soap could be better. The kitchen cabinet doors are difficult to open and close. A lot of care in constructing the property and wonderful architectural features, but with a little updating, it can return to what it once was. Intentions seemed like for a yoga retreat, but no classes or services really offered. The hill to get to the property is rocky, muddy, steep, and narrow. You need 4x4 or ATV and be comfortable navigating unpaved roads. The street was used fairly often.

The staff was very nice and the room was clean. Beautiful building and located in the middle of the rainforest. The road in was quite bad, but read about that before and was doable with a low clearance 4x4. The hot tub and swimming pool we're luxurious (a couple sharp edges underwater in the hot tub though. Cut my foot a bit). The room was spacious and beautiful with the large windows. We did see someone walk past above, so I'd close the curtains for some privacy. Would've really enjoyed the stay if it was quiet and if there was power.

There was a power cut during the night. Not a problem by itself, but there was no backup generator and it lasted all night. So no fans or airconditioning. They had am emergency light in the room in case of power cuts, so it seems like this happens regularly. Would expect at least a generator. There was no gas bottle for our cooker. The bed was very firm. The room next to us had a family in it and the sound proofing was not good enough. Woke up many times from one of the screaming kids.

The hotel was amazing - relaxing vibe, calmness, amazing pool. Staff was really friendly. We would stay there again! :) The location is not for everyone. It is located in the forest, up in the steep hill. We were travelling with a group of friends (all around 30 y.o.) the walk up to the hotel was a nice workout, but we did not enjoy the dusty road. Overall, we would stay in the hotel again as the location is close by the street food (main road) and a nice beach spot. We have seen some nice birds / monkeys close by the hotel.

Dusty roads, steep hill. You need to be a good driver to drive up the hill and park your car.

The property was very cute and is surrounded by nature and lush greenery. The pool is small but was nice during the day, and we were lucky enough to see a troop of capuchin monkeys stop by to get a drink of water from the pool. It is a 5-10 minute walk to the beach and restaurants along Santa Teresa. Extremely walkable area if you don't mind getting in some cardio when climbing back up the steep hill to the property.

The rooms could have been cleaner. There was a massive gap below the door of the room which invited many bugs to enter. Noise from other guests could be heard clearly due to the close proximity of the rooms to the pool and jacuzzi area. We had a bottom floor room and the patio offered little privacy and noise from the upstairs guests was astronomical. Getting up the hill was doable in a 4x4 SUV, but the provided parking area was tight enough to raise your blood pressure. Overall experience was not as chill and relaxing as the name suggests.

We had a wonderful stay at Canaima Chill House! The apartment was spacious and had everything we needed! The shower offers a nice view into the forest, a lot of beautiful birds passed by. The veranda was huge and had a swinging bed, perfect place to relax and read. There was even a connection to the kitchen (bar with chairs). The pool was clean and refreshing, once in a while we saw a small group of monkeys. The staff cleaned everything daily as there was a lot of dust swirled up from the dusty road. It didn’t bother us, it’s the season. In general, they were really helpful and taking care of everything.

Can’t say I didn’t liked it… but the way up to Canaima is challenging and steep at the end, 4x4 is necessary, walks up and down keep in shape. Be aware of the season, in dry seasons it can be very dusty, therefore be careful not to fall.

Beautiful aesthetic accommodation. Great to relax and enjoy the nature. Kitchen well equipped. Nice common space with jacuzzi. Located not too far from the beach and shops.

Going uphill was a little difficult especially with the luggage as we did not rent a car or atv. Would be nice if the hairdryers were provided in the accommodation.

We loved the hotel - it’s super nice and comfy! You can cook your own meals and properly relax - there was a workers making sure everything clean - they were very friendly!! The rooms are amazing

it’s in a wild place up the hill and people complain about it but this wasn’t a problem for us. We used it for our exercise but we are young and healthy - if you have knee problems for example this could be a problem but you just need a car or quad. Also this is why sometimes there are leaves in the pool but it’s because it’s in pure nature - we saw monkeys
