Very nice and secure location, they gave daily maintenance to my room, everything works nicely, hot water 24/7, and they have a nice minibar on top !!

This is an older property, not modern, but was well-maintained except for some lights which didn't work in our room. The shower in our room required going up and down a few steps, which may be challenging for some people.

Our host was super friendly and helpful in every way, and the staff did everything possible to make our stay comfortable. The location is only a short walk to a number of good restaurants and a supermarket, which was very convenient. We booked a larger room, which had plenty of space. Our room was upstairs with no elevator, but the staff helped us up and down with our luggage. The cooked to order breakfast was great and many choices were offered. In almost every way, our stay was like a visit to a nice friend.

This was a gem of a stay! The owner and staff were so friendly and accommodating, even when our plans changed. We enjoyed their hospitality and the comforts of a unique home. The breakfast was amazing, and they even provided wine and snacks on the beautiful patio in the evening. We walked about 400 meters to a grocery store and a variety of restaurants - very safe area. About 20 minutes from the airport (plus a little traffic at the busy times). The room was comfortable and met our needs.

We had a few issues with the lighting and with a noisy fan in our room. However, overall the accommodations were very comfortable.

The breakfast at Cariari B&B was exceptional, with lots of fresh fruit, yogurt, excellent bread, and eggs cooked to order. Both Laurie and Miriam showed us warm hospitality and made our stay extremely pleasant. We would definitely stay here again.

Everything - Laurie and Miriam are FABULOUS in every way. I felt like I was at home, or perhaps staying with a favourite aunt. It felt like home. And the breakfast, oh dear - it's a shared table (not great if you're not a morning person, but I muddled through and thoroughly enjoyed it) and Laurie moaned that she "didn't have much this morning" and then served up enough food to feed a horde of hungry adolescents. Love all the animals, the terrace is magical...I could go on. So very glad I found this place and I'll see you next year :-)

Cariari is the best choice for me and my friend. The environment is all perfect. The host helped us so much and invited us to join the Thanks Giving dinner. We feel we are not only a visitor, but also a part of the local community. I will definitely revisit in the future! Valencia.

Location to the convention center and dining. Staff was wonderful! We were joyfully welcomed upon arrival by Laurie and Miriam and offered a beverage. We got the benefit of calling this place home for 8 nights. Laurie is so hospitable, wanting you to enjoy the area, planning trips, arranging transportation to help make your life easier. I was blessed in that she let me be her join her on outings to the markets, stores, and yoga and tea with friends on the terrace. She even treated us and a friend to 2 of the most delicious homemade dinners we experienced our whole trip. Also whipping up a yummy blueberry French toast casserole for breakfast. We felt like family in her home. We were fortunate to find a room at the last minute after our hotel reservation mix up. Which ended up being a blessing in disguise! There are 3 spacious, lovely suites. The upper terrace is an oasis to sit and listen to the river and view the mountains. The lack of AC was not an issue because there weather was not humid even with daily downpours. Windows open and fans were all we needed to be comfortable. We felt safe walking to the convention center and DoubleTree hotel. Laurie or Heraldo would drive us up the hill to the pedestrian bridge early each morning. Laurie is an exceptional hostess and now friend!

Wish we would have known there were 2 dogs and a cat on the property in case someone was allergic. But the three animals were friendly.

The breakfast was incredible! Fresh fruit, bagels and cream cheese, gluten free cereal greek yogurt, and coffee all at 6am to accommodate our schedule. Loved chatting with Laurie about Costa Rica and life in general. Was a little tight for a family of 4 8n one room but we made it work.

Laurie is a wonderful woman, who is kind, generous and very down to earth. Miriam is a delight and very polite and helpful. the house is beautiful and in a quiet neighborhood. We slept well here and enjoyed the HUGE delicious breakfast in the morning. We’re sorry we couldn’t stay longer!

It would feel more secure if the room doors locked, although having staff there 24/7 mitigated our concerns.

Laurie’s B&B is super cute! Very convenient to the airport and downtown, gated and secure feeling, classy and spacious inside, large bathroom, great arrival snacks and breakfast, friendly dogs, and otherwise a great choice when landing late in SJO or flying out early.

There's no AC, but San Jose is a comfortable climate. I just wish they had a quieter fans in the room.

Great location! Quiet, peaceful, and residential, yet only a few well-lit blocks to a great grocery store and several restaurants. The building is beautiful and the hostess and her staff are exceptional. They really made us feel instantly at home.

A very nice and interesting house. Access to fine outdoor area. We were invited to a drink when we arrived. In the middle of the night we were served coffee, bread and exquisite banana cake before making our way to the airport.

We loved everything about this wonderful home and property. Laurie greeted us on one of her doorstep and invited us to enjoy a glass of wine on her spacious covered outdoor veranda where we could see iguana in the nearby trees. Her staff were wonderful and attentive when we had any needs. Truly a unique property and experience.

Shower was unpredictable-temperature and amount of water.

Beautiful old building. Loved the deck and the winding staircase. And the three resident dogs. Saw some beautiful birds from the deck. Had a glass of wine with the owner. Both owner and assistant were friendly, thoughtful, helped us in many ways. More than that, drove me all over to solve ATM issues. Hearty, delicious breakfasts!
