How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewVery friendly and helpful owner and staff! The room has everything needed. Safe parking available. You can use the pool. Everything was clean and tidy. I asked for beach towels and they were provided. It’s close to a big supermarket. It’s not far from Tamarindo center, for me well located between the beaches around Tamarindo.
It’s close to a busy street, and therefore it could be a bit loud but for us it was not a problem.

Verified reviewGenerally quiet, even next to the highway. We were greeted by the owner's two teenage sons. Clearly managers in training. The kitchen beside the pool was well equipped for our breakfast of cold cereal. There is a hot plate and BBQ which we did not try out. Both beds were pushed against the walls. We were able to move the double bed away from the wall and use the side chair so both sides of the bed could have a bedside table of sorts. Towels are thick, soft.and absorbant. Shower is slow to heat but then warm.
There are no blankets or bed spread, only a top sheet. Pillows are hard. Water pressure is too low for the shower head. Few places to put suitcases. Overhead light, and one small bedside lamp leave the other sleepers without light.

We have blankets available to guests upon request and we have strong and medium support hotel pillows in the rooms. A company is carrying out improvement work on the road which sometimes affects us due to the water pressure but they will be finished soon, I hope it hasn't been a problem. Verified reviewThe owners are friendly and accommodating. They gave me great recommendations for places to visit. The property is gated and feels very safe, and provides a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of the town. My room was very clean and comfortable. The room had a refrigerator, the shared kitchen had the equipment for making simple meals or reheating leftovers.
Access to the property is from a busy street and can take a bit of skill.

Water pressure in the sink was a bit low. Didn’t have conditioner in shower but we could’ve asked for it and we chose not to.

Wasn’t sure how to get into the property. A little confusing. We had to phone them to open gate.

We are located on the main road, although it is true that we are not close to the beaches, we are located 4 km from Tamarindo and in an area where it offers the opportunity to go to the different beaches such as Conchal, Puerto Viejo, Minas, Tamarindo, Langosta, Avellanas and many others etc I'm a little sorry for the confusion when entering the Hotel, the gate is kept closed for security and it has a bell to open it for our guests. Verified reviewWe didn't use many of the facilities, because we were here only for a short night, but they seemed to have a lot to offer. It was overall clean and simple and well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The main problem was the noise from the cars! I'm not sure if it was just our room that wasn't well insulated, but the hotel is located on a busy street, and the sound of cars was non-stop. The large sliding doors just weren't up for keeping that sound out. Bring earplugs if that bothers you.

Dear George, We apologize for the inconvenience you suffered regarding the sound, we are located on the main road which is indicated in Booking and due to the season there is a lot of traffic flow, we take your comment into consideration and change the position of the double beds so that they are not next to the door, with respect to the the rooms are as indicated in our booking service, double-size beds, glass doors and as seen in the photographs, the coffeemaker in the room has sachet coffee or you can enjoy coffee in the common area, there is also a coffeemaker.
