Reviews of Hotel Casa Leona

Well maintained bed and breakfast that offer you quite place, comparing the noise and crowd on the beach avenue. We have seen the group of howling monkeys, they tried to colonize the huge tree. We also enjoy the company of a cat whenever we have food outside. The space have two pools in two different area, both are well designed. We can use both space, so we stay in the hotel longer than any other travel we did.

The location is perfect. We parked our rental at the property and just walked everywhere. The facilities are exceptionally clean and cozy. Breakfast was on point.

Great location quiet area but walking distance to town. Lovely friendly staff clean room great shower nice balcony overlooking grounds. Good breakfast with healthy choices would stay again

It was peaceful and the staff members were lovely. Danielle was so helpful, and the team created a welcoming environment. It was nice to be able to have breakfasts on site.

As a solo traveller it is important to take precautions on the side streets, as you would in any country.

Property is beautiful, common areas are great and cozy, the breakfast was excellent and service was great. I am amazed that they put emergency self care kits while other hotels and places don’t do it. Loved the place and probably will book again soon.

The parking lot is outside on the street and there is a guard but still not 100% safe. Either way is not a busy street so no danger whatsoever.

Lovely location! Beautiful flowers and set up. Great sightings of monkeys. Convenient breakfasts.

Room lit by patio doors ( windows) but they face office and main entrance so had to keep blinds down for privacy

We loved everything about our stay. What a wonderful experience. The hospitality was probably the best I have ever had. Danielle and her staff were absolutely fantastic.

The workers are very nice & the place was well upkept, (didnt take many pics of hotel). But It is off the main street so a bit more quiet with a short 5-10 min walk to main area, lots of food & nightlife close. Also The breakfast lady was very nice and made delicious food. For me and my boyfriends first trip together it was very pleasant thank you again, would definitely come back.

The room was spacious and well appointed. Really loved the balcony overlooking the beautifully landscaped property and the large tree that drew birds and howler monkeys! Patio and lounge chairs were nice, as was the resident cat we named Señor Gato! Breakfasts were good

The staff member who greeted us never gave her name and the language barrier (Spanish/English) made it a little difficult to follow her instructions for check in.

Grounds here are lovely and well maintained. Close to everything. Its a very short 3-minute walk to the little Thursday night market and approximately 5 mins to the centre of town & the beach. Staff here were all very nice.

Nothing we didn't like. It was a little challenging to find in the dark as the Casa Leona sign was very discrete.

A beautiful little hotel, the enclosed yard was very pretty and a quiet spot to relax in.

The Tamarindo sewage problem and no paper flush was an annoyance, not the hotels fault. The roads good use some maintenance.

I was very pleased with my stay at Casa Leona. I was there from November 9-14th 2024. It is about a 15 minute walk or so from the centre of Tamarindo up off the busy main road on a quiet neighbourhood side street the allows you to be in a beautiful green oasis! There were even some Howler Monkeys way up in trees while I was there. The main road to town has no sidewalk and you’ll be walking on the edge of the asphalt as vehicles go around you and your fellow visitors. The room amenities allow you to have meals in to save some money, the rooms are cozy with good AC, I was in a top floor deluxe unit which has a peaked roof the gives a more spacious feel, a large shared covered balcony to hang out on between activities or rain. There is a gazebo with couches to lounge in and a pool as well. Breakfast was excellent with a few choices from a set menu, from a hearty La Tica which is a local breakfast with fruit to lighter fair such as croissants. Most properties here have fences and locked gates and it’s the same at Casa Leona, plus there is a friendly night guard who watches the parking area. The friendly staff work diligently to keep the property clean and tidy. Just a reminder, some rooms have hot water and others do not so make sure to read the room descriptions carefully. I highly recommend Casa Leona for its location, peace and quiet, all the lush greenery that screens you from neighbouring properties, a good breakfast and overall ambiance!

It was a beautiful property in lovely setting surrounded by well kept gardens. A great swimming pool and nice outdoor area under cover if it rained. The breakfasts were amazing and freshly made for us. The staff were so friendly and really appreciated the use of a washing machine as first one in Costa Rica without having to find a laundry. 5 minute walk to supermarket and a bit further to shops.
