How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewGreat stay, gated parking, great breakfast included, all staff was very nice and super helpful, location was in the heart of Manuel Antonio within walking distance of many great places for food and adventure. The room we stayed in had access to the second lap pool that is not available to all guests, which included a private lounge area with 2 lounge chairs and a table.
No gym, and would have been great to know ahead of time there is a ~15% discount when paying by cash versus credit card.

The aircon in our bedroom barely worked so we had 2 uncomfortable nights.

Room was indicated as 35 m2, but in reality it was maximum 24 m2. On top of this, the pool was very dirty. The hotel looks way better on the pictures than in reality and it was too expensive for what we got.

Verified reviewThe hotel is very dated. The leather sofas in the reception were worn and cracking . The rooms we stayed in were dark with no windows. There were 2 doors on each side, one leading to the corridor and the other to the pool. The pictures and the mirror were crooked in our room and though I tried to straighten them, they kept getting crooked which for a slightly OCD person was very annoying. The “veranda” was lovely like that of an old bungalow with comfortable seating. Breakfast was not great and breakfast service was poor. Pool is nice.The hotel staff was very nice, welcoming and helpful.
The lack of light in the room, no windows! The entrance into the shower was so narrow you could only get in sideways! The entry into the hotel is very tricky and our car got damaged.

Verified reviewNice hotel with good amenities. Nice pool, good cocktails, great breakfast. Location is near several restaurants and a very short drive to Manuel Antonio National Park or Quepos. The wildlife in the area was fun (monkeys, tropical birds, lizards, coati).

Verified reviewThere was a swimming pool surrounded by trees right in front of our room. The room was very spacious, very comfortable with both ceiling fan and AC. The common areas are beautiful with pretty gardens. The breakfast was good, but it lacked desserts and variety in fruits

The room although was on higher level smelt very musty and it was very dark and dingy It was very depressing the window was overlooking a lift wall which was out of order the duration we were there The juccuzzi didn’t work it was a big crack in it The whole place needs some work done to it The breakfast was awful cold dry and of very cheap bad quality stuff The parking was so tight it was a mission to get the car in and out of the spaces

Verified reviewLovely room, and great pool area (complete with howler Monkeys in the trees at one point!). Staff were also really friendly, and the breakfast was good. Get there at 7am so it's fresh as it's a buffet style that stays out. Would definitely return!
Some of the reception staff weren't the most helpful at times, and a shame breakfast only starts at 7am as we'd booked excursions that meant meeting outside at that time. Saying that, the staff let us go in a bit early to grab a quick breakfast sandwich to go so that was helpful!

Parking was bit annoying as we had to go to a reception to inform them to open the garage every time we entered. It was raining heavily hence there was lot of disruption
