Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyThe hotel felt quite overpriced for what it actually offered. While the rooms appeared to have been recently renovated, there were noticeable cracks and maintenance issues. Our room smelled of mould and had not been properly aired, and there were also holes in the mosquito nets which made it difficult to keep the windows open at night. Common spaces, including the reception, looked outdated and in need of refurbishment, which didn’t fully match the premium positioning of the property. The restaurants, although good, lacked a bit of warmth and atmosphere.
The property is beautifully immersed in nature, right in the heart of the rainforest, making it a unique experience compared to other hotels in the area. The hot spring pools were perfect for relaxing, and we also enjoyed the well-organized excursions such as the guided walks and the chocolate and coffee tour. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful, and overall we had a very pleasant stay. The food at the restaurants was also enjoyable.

CanadaThe only bad thing is I lost my tied glasses in the slide (they didn’t have a warning about loose items and the slide is steeper than expected). They told me they were trying to find them, but I am not sure they were properly equipped and it’s a bit surprising considering the quality of the installations.
The place is beautiful, it is filled with nature. You are in the forest, so you get to see a lot of animals wandering around. The staff was welcoming. The restaurant has very good food, very nice breakfast. They even made us some breakfast boxes because we had to leave very early.

United StatesOur whole family had a wonderful experience at chachagua, and the kids especially enjoyed the hot spring pools, water slide, and amazing wildlife and staff. A highlight of our trip was when after our hike in the morning to the ceiba tree ( another stunning characteristic of chachagua ) a very kind staff member showed us a sloth! It was truly memorable and meant a Lot to our family. We are very grateful for our time at the amazing hotel and would definitely recommend it to others.

This is a little paradise, a gem hidden in the Costa Rican jungle. We loved the natural pools, swimming in the river, and the amazing breakfast. Worth mentioning the very nice staff. And the location was marvelous.

United StatesAny complaints would be totally nit picking. It was a Lil ways away. The food was expensive for costa rica. other than that the place was perfect. We've been to several places in Costa rica and this is our favorite.

SpainBeing in the forest it’s hard to find places to eat, so you’re left with the hotel restaurant (which is good). Also, rooms are a little dark being in the shade of the forest
Great place in the middle of the forest. You really enjoy the adventure experience. Staff is really kind and serviceable, and facilities are great

The property is absolutely stunning and the staff are very nice and make sure you have everything you need. The room we stayed in was beautiful and somewhat secluded. Lastly, the food and springs were top notch.

United StatesNOTHING. I loved it here!
The food! It's all locally sourced, and much of it is grown on site. The beds are VERY comfortable. The property is private and stunningly gorgeous. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful! The resort is small/boutique (only ~40 villas?), so it doesn't feel crowded at all! The natural waterslide is amazing. The hot springs are so romantic too!

United StatesThe paths at night were not lit up very well and was very hard to see where we were going. No railing on the stairs. No signage on how to get to the hotsprings. The food was very expensive.
From the moment we pulled in, we were greeted by Bryan with a cool towel and welcome drink. Our check in was quick. Bryan showed us to our 2 bedroom villa with a plunge pool. The grounds were beautiful. Breakfast was amazing with fruit to start and a made to order breakfast

CanadaThe only thing I would change was having a chair inside the room, so there was someplace other than the beds to sit on. There was ample seating and a hammock on the deck though.
The Staff! Incredibly friendly and helpful. Staying with Fabian at reception, who took us on a small tour before we even got to our room, to our amazing wait staff at the restaurant, Anthony, Pamela, and all the others. The waterslide into the river was a perfect way to start the day!

AustraliaCould give any constructive feedback, great haven for nature lovers.
The location is amazing, your own hire car is highly recommended. The resort is a unique nature experience with passionate welcoming staff. The hot springs, river, both restaurants, guided walks were all amazing. Only regret is not staying for 4 nights instead of two.

United StatesThere is a small river you need to cross to get to the parking area closest to the bungalows. Having rented a smaller AWD vehicle and booking tours directly with the companies, we chose to park closer to reception. It was a bit more of a walk but allowed us to enjoy the grounds and hear all of the birds! The grounds can be dark at night so use caution.
Our stay at Chachagua was fantastic! The resort grounds are beautiful and well maintained, it was easy to navigate. The hot pools were such a bonus after long days of hiking. The restaurants have great food options, including vegetarian items. The staff was extremely friendly, personable and attentive.

United StatesThe only bad (really bad) thing is the breakfast. The selection of food was very small -just a few dishes to choose from and the quality of food was very low too. Cheap motels in the US usually offer better breakfast than this hotel.
The hotel is great. It is located at the middle of the forest and has a huge territory with jungles, waterfalls, lakes and hot springs.

United StatesIt is in a bit of a secluded area (which we loved!) but made us hesitant to drive at night! Luckily the resort had everything we needed and more but we made sure to get back from our activities before dark.
Every ounce of the property was spectacular! We saw monkeys, tucans, lizards, you name it! We could not get over how gorgeous everything was and especially for the price! Food was also great!
