Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt would have been nice to have a communal chill-out area.
The breakfast here was delicious! A lovely, relaxing location, an easy 15-minute walk into town (safe at night). The staff were lovely and the AC was also very appreciated. The wifi was also good. Would definitely recommend.

United StatesThe staff were so kind. My kids enjoyed feeding the fish in the pond and playing on the swing. They didn’t want to leave. There was a supermarket nearby to grab supplies for our trip.

United StatesThe bed was really hard. We did tell the women at the front desk, and she told us that people either love it or hate it, but that it is very good for the back. Yet, she stated she would be happy to put us in another room with a bed that is a bit softer, but it was a smaller room. We decided not to change rooms. Believe it or not we slept fine on that hard bed, probably because we were exhausted after 2 full days of hiking.
Small, quaint hotel. Walking distance to downtown and restaurants. Room was very basic, clean, and a good size so there was plenty of room for luggage & spreading out a bit. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very tasty. Grounds and the outdoor seating area for breakfast was beautiful. The highlight was one evening when the women from the front desk knocked on everyone's door to come out to see the sloth on the property. The sloth was walking around! It looked scared so it just looked around at everyone for a while. Eventually, it climbed up the closest tree. We took lots of pictures and videos. We also saw several sloths on our chocolate and coffee tour the next day. We were going to book a sloth tour but didn't need to especially since we saw one up close!

CanadaIt rained several times while we were there but after all it is the rain forest area so that was to be expected.
It is a well hidden facility but once we found it and settled in we loved it! The owners were very sweet and helpful. It was a clean facility and anything we needed was available within minutes. About a 10 minute walk for great restaurants. There are always little dogs hanging around the facility and one actually walked with us out for dinner, waited for us and made sure we followed him back home.... amazing! A lovely breakfast with choices is served in a covered patio on the pond with ducks and birds welcoming in the day! We loved our experience at this Hotel! Would recommend it highly!

United KingdomMy only gripe was the pillows were very fat- it’s a personal thing but I prefer a flatter option. Breakfast was basic but ok.
Very friendly staff in this small family run hotel, in the local end of town. About 1k walk to the main centre, which we did in the evenings and felt pretty safe. Use of the pool (but book a slot during swim school sessions in the later afternoon). Basic but comfortable room included a small fridge, air con and plenty of hot water in the bathroom. Breakfast was included. If you want to escape the touristy world of La Fortuna this little hotel is worth staying at.

United StatesThe beds are a bit hard or we would have given them a 10. We would definitely stay there again.
Lovely family run compound. A bit of paradise just a short distance from the chaos of downtown La Fortuna. A creek runs nearby next to a pond beside the gazebo where you get your typical and well prepared breakfast. The rooms are clean, simple and neat. Very gracious hospitality.

United StatesAs to be expected, the room was quite tight. There were 2 beds, but it's hard to imagine two people navigating much in that room.(#2) I had to remember to duck, to keep from hitting my head on the mounted TV. Again, lack of outlets is common in this country, so I adjusted. The way the room was situated, the main window was facing another window, as well as people walking back and forth, so I couldn't keep it open much for lack of privacy, which was disappointing since the room was not well lit.
The grounds were just beautiful. The staff was friendly and attentive and very patient with my basic Spanish. A small refrigerator also served as a night stand-clever! The location was perfect for a single traveler, with no rental car. I could easily walk to and from the "center" as well as several of the meeting places for local tours. I was here 8 days and only took an Uber/taxi 2 times. I really enjoyed th cabin-like rooms and I extended stay from 5 to 8 days.

GermanyThere were chairs and a table missing outside in front of the room, a pity because the garden is nice. Not as centrally located, as I assumed, but a few nice local shops and a soda in walking distance.

United StatesThe property is conveniently located near La Fortuna town center. It is clean and well maintained. The breakfast was really nice, served outside in a cozy gazebo overlie pond. The staff are really nice and accommodating. They helped me resolve an issue with personal items that were accidentally left behind. They went out of their way to help me even after we have already checked out. Thank you for the great stay and for being super helpful!

The site is really nice, with a lake, nice trees, a stream, and some wildlife passing by. The room was clean, and comfortable, with a big window facing the wood. The typical breakfast was excellent and the staff friendly, and as helpful as they could to assist me in booking tours.
