Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsNo hot shower. The beds could be a bit more comfortable.
Nice and quiet location away from the main town. The porch is a very nice place to chill, cook your own diner, and enjoy the birds and other animals in the garden.

United StatesWiFi is spotty. Electricity goes out briefly from time to time.
It's hard to rate this unique lodging. We basically had it to ourselves, which we loved. We saw toucans and a jaguarundi on the large porch, monkees and a river otter in the jungle nearby. When Victor was around he was extremely friendly and helpful, but much of the time he was not. It helps to be campers and DIYers as we are, ready to wash a pot, light the industrial-sized gas stove, find the salt, and cook the pasta we had brought. As others have said, without a car you'd have to be real backpackers -- it's quite a ways to anything. Our room had both A/C and a fan, which we appreciated.

Costa RicaIt’s very rustic, no sound proving in the rooms - we’ve heard every word (including obscene ones) from our neighbors conversations, while staying with young children. Water in the shower is cold and tap water was running brownish.
Friendly owner, beautiful terrace, pet friendly.

HungaryWell, closeness to the nature means not only birds on the terrace but occasionally also some bugs in the bathroom.
The location of the place is perfect if you look for peace, closeness to the nature. Drake bay and Playa Rincon are also close (~10mins by car). During our breakfast toucans and colibries were flying around. Victor gave us good tips for a short hike, starting just in front of the house.

United KingdomInternet might be a problem for some, as there is no good network connection and the internet is slow. But if you just want to relax and have peace and quiet 👍 It is also easier if you drive as food shops are good 45 minutes walk.
It’s peaceful and relaxing playing with many birds around and other animals popping regularly to get some bananas which is fun to watch. Plenty of places to do Yoga or any other exercises. Very comfy bed and you have access to the kitchen if you want to make your food as I am vegan. They offer breakfast and dinner which is super comfortable if you fancy local cuisine. My brother really enjoyed a hearty breakfast with eggs, ham rice and beans. Close walk to the wild beach and waterfalls. Also, they can help with organising local tours, smirking on the Isla del caño was absolutely fantastic.

United StatesRemote and difficult road to drive. We left early after one uncomfortable night
The pictures made it look much better than it was. The bed was not comfortable and no hot water. Water was not potable but there was good air conditioning. The owner was nice and helpful. No restaurant services

Czech RepublicWe have spent a wonderful time in Corcovado Mountain house. We came to Costa Rica to observe wildlife and this was the highlight of our three weeks trip. The hotel is next to the jungle and primary forest. We saw toucans, monkeys, and a lot of various animals all day coming to the garden of the hotel. If you are lucky, you can see tapir as well. Victor is a very friendly host and knows much about wildlife. He can offer you a jungle tour to see the waterfalls. It was the best tour we had in Costa Rica and absolutely worth the money!

United KingdomThe rooms are comfortable and the garden is green and lush. Having coffee in the morning on the terrace listening to the birds was amazing. It is out of town and surrounded by forest which was perfect for us. The use of the kitchen was a great help. Victor is a great host and very helpful. He took us on a fantastic walk of the local forest which was just opposite his house, so my son could try to spot animals and insects. He even managed to talk to us in English which was a great help as we don't speak Spanish. There is also a great beach just a short drive away. Perfect place.

United KingdomNothing that I can think of.
Absolutely wonderful stay! I got welcomed by the very friendly and helpful owner and a baby Tucan that he rescued from the road! The location is beautifully situated in the jungle and gives you the opportunity to spot many animals around the property! Nice and spacious rooms as well. I would love to come back!

SpainGreat location with a nice garden in the back where monkeys, tayras, and other animals come to eat bananas. Basic accommodation but everything I needed. Victor is a great guy and he will do all he can to make sure you enjoy your stay. There is a nice, free Jungle hike right in front of the property. You can freely use the kitchen and refrigerator, etc. I enjoyed my time here. Also, there is a laundry service for guests at a very reasonable price. I do strongly recommend having a car.
