Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe facilities and comfort were quite basic. While fine for a short stay, a few improvements in amenities and room setup would make it more comfortable overall.
Luis was incredibly kind and helpful — he even lent me a bag after mine was stolen, which I really appreciated. His support made a real difference during my stay.

GermanyLuis was a great host! He helped us a lot with information about transportation and activities in the area. The location of the hostel was quiet but still near the center and it had a lovely garden. Our room was really big and clean and had a brand new floor.

GermanyAs always in Costa Rica the walls are quite thin, but with ear plugs everything was fine.
Luis is the nicest host we have ever had during a stay! He helped us a lot with busses to Cahuita & La Fortuna and was always there when we needed him. The kitchen is really well equipped and has everything you need. The common area is really nice as well. The accommodation is right in the nature, we saw lots of animals right next to us. It’s around a 10 minute walk into the city centre.

United StatesI didn't appreciate being met by all of the construction materials at the beginning of the cabinas' walking path. It was quite confusing to see so much stuff piled next to the place where guests can sit or leave their belongings upon arrival or when they leave. Those materials should be properly stored away from the guests' entrance and view; it takes away from the very lovely charm and experience of the cabinas. And, those building materials are a hazard for children or anyone not careful of their step. I would suggest a light placed near the Bed for moving around in the dark. I didn't like having to waste electricity in the night because the bathroom light was left on all night because I may be in bed, but not necessarily ready for sleep 😴 at times, or because I wanted to watch my step if I got up for the restroom. The name of the place is hidden behind a beautiful floral tree 🌳
Keisha, the housekeeper, hostess, tour guide, and everything you need her to be, helped me with feeling very comfortable with my space. They provided insect repellent for the mosquitoes 🦟 at night, and it worked so much so that I was able to enjoy my window being opened to appreciate the lovely garden view and sounds of nature. I am grateful I had the privilege to try Luis's best vegan burger patty I have ever eaten! And, Keisha's tuna pasta was very delicious, too 😋. I loved my room! It is spacious, comfortable bed, hot showers when the setting is on less pressure. I loved feeling comfortable out in nature, and I will choose to come back here again. The location is perfect for the quietness out in nature, and close enough to walk to the town's center and the beach ⛱️. I, definitely, got my bang for my bucks. I saw a mom & baby Sloth 🦥 on my first day which was so very special to watch them play.

GermanyWhen I arrived nobody knew about me and my room was not ready, it was already time for check in though. As many others said, the property has to be maintained and cleaned. It could be a really beautiful spot, as the garden is amazing. Guys next door made party until 4AM, I had to get up 2 hours later. Disrespectful guests are not the fault of the owner. But nobody cared about it. It is more far away from town then expected, therefore you have lush nature around you.
Hosts were nice. Flexible with letting me stay for 2 nights, although I had booked 3 (therefore had to pay a bit more per night, what wasnt told me before) Amazing garden, nice terrace.

NetherlandsThe reception was kind of messy, there’s no real hostel/hotel feel. It’s not the cleanest, but in those terms you get get value for money. For a cheap stay with not too much hassle, it’s okay.
It is centrally located in the village, you can walk to restaurants, bars and the supermarket. The room is relatively big.

Costa RicaThere was a water leak in the bathroom, and toilet paper wasn't being restocked. Community areas and kitchen were quite dirty. The owners hassled about payment in a very uncomfortable, scammy and rude way, as early as the first day upon arrival. There was nothing to confirm received payment. We wouldn't stay here again.
It's not far from the main street and the city. There is a really good breakfast bakery close, even though that one is quite expensive.
