The parking was a little difficult to get to and the path was not easy for older folks like us. Also, because it was close to town and we were there over a holiday, the noise at night went on and on. But in some ways, that was a lot of fun.

The location was great, right by the downtown and close to the beach and waterfall. The staff was very helpful and the pools were enjoyable. The view off of our Deck was very nice as well.

Bit of a noisy area in the evening but they sent us a message beforehand letting us know where our room was would be loud so that was appreciated, wore earplugs to sleep and it was fine! If I were staying here again I would make sure to book a room with a hammock outside it!

Internet was spotty and weak throughout our 5 nights stay, perhaps because all of us were on wifi at the same time. Parking was absolutely awful for us with the steep incline and dangerous blind spots, perhaps not for others who are used to driving CR roads.

Everything was great except for 2 things. Staff were friendly and helpful, pools were clean and inviting, we used the pools a few times. Property surrounded by beautiful and lush vegetation. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

Watch out for the reception opening times and pre warn for late check in! Only thing was there was a small hole in the mosquito net in our room but it didn’t matter as we kept the windows shut.

Really nice hotel within the perfect distance of Montezuma beach, restaurants, shops and the waterfalls! The staff were all lovely and very helpful. They even offer tour and activity services at the front desk for a good price (better than some of the other kiosks in the area). It was my partner’s birthday and they left balloons and chocolates in the room, very kindly. The pool was really clean and very refreshing! Filtered water, coffee, tea and bananas offered in the reception every morning. The hammock and chairs on the balcony were lovely.

- the parking lot is small and not very easy to turn the car, if there are more cars in it. But I’d definitely return to this hotel, if I’d be back to Montezuma - we were asked to pay in Collons when we arrived, which we refused. Using booking.com, it was informed USD, not Colons. If it was agreed that could have be paid in both currencies, there wouldn’t be a problema.

A place with a true hippie spirit, located next to a beautiful beach where a waterfall flows into the ocean – perfect for walks. Montezuma Waterfall is just a 10-minute walk away. Plenty of charming little cafés nearby.

Parking is a few minutes away up a steep hill - but the team are so helpful with bags etc that it didn't matter at all.

Loved this hotel - the location is fantastic - on a hill with sea views but the town with bars and restaurant starts outside the hotel and the beach is 3 minutes walk! The staff were amazing - Gabriel was kind and chatty, and upgraded us for free to a better room away from the street noise, helped bring our bags from the car as well as respond to our many random requests ( a knife to cut fruit we bought from the market, and bags of ice for my mothers sprained ankle). The rooms are lovely - so clean, beautifully decorated with decks, sun loungers and hammocks, and the bed was the comfiest we slept in during our whole trip. The 2 pools are clean and a nice way to finish the day surrounded by butterflies. The free coffee and biscuits in the morning are great, and all you need with so many restaurants on the doorstep. Highly recommend!

I honestly can’t think of anything.

The hotel provided complimentary coffee and bananas every morning. Gabriel, at front desk reception, was so friendly and helpful. It sounds cliche but he really made us feel welcome. He helped us find a way to get our laundry done as well. Hotel was in a central location. We had a room next to the pool. We loved the pool, perfect temp, and most importantly the room was very clean and air conditioned.

Five stars! Gabriel and staff provided excellent communication and helped me with a late check in when my travel was delayed. Comfortable, clean and gorgeous views. I used the pool and hammock daily. You can hear Howler Monkeys and other wildlife on the property. I highly recommend :) Pura Vida!

Room with AC is fine but not great water pressure or warm, does not bother me for the weather, but would be perfect once it has been fixed.

Budget price for private room and bathroom for solo traveller with view Ocean and monkeys. super helpful and friendly staff, thanks Gabriel for helping being friendly and helpful in booking tours, massages, restaurants. Advised me to check on weather of the day before booking Isla Tortuga tour, warn me on weather for waterfall hike, even made me a song (with AI)! Truly vibing the friendly and chill energy of CR. Pool is fine. good for a quick dop after a hot day. Location is right by everything in the small town - beaches (3mins walk), tours operators, massage, good, supermarket, waterfall (15mins walk to trailhead). Only thing is the last stretch by the hostel is right on the main road with no much street light or sidewalks. saw how long monkeys right outside my room the last day.

One night it was very loud for very long as there was a jungle rave party going on in town and the noise travelled upward. It’s not the hotels fault and all of the village was dancing and affected.

Beautiful, lush garden up a hill with individual bungalows. We had the last one and it felt very special to wake up to the glistening sea on the horizon and the movement of iguana walking on the roof or past the stones. The pool was refreshing and nice to have a morning and evening swim. The howler monkeys were greeting us at random hours just above the property with their howls. The service personal was super friendly and very helpful.

Amazing staff, such a beautiful space and the garden was really beautiful. Pool was ace, and although no brekkie provided you can have water and coffee and fresh bananas all day and each morning. We got a balcony and watched birds from our hammocks outside our room. Total bliss. Restaurants in the town are hit and miss. Walk 8 mins towards the river and there are some incredible restaurants to eat at!

Unfortunately the mattress was uncomfortable, possibly foam, unforgiving, otherwise we would have given 5 stars.

This hotel is stunning, we felt we were in a movie. The pool and gardens were gorgeous and just outside our room, which felt private and tucked away. Breakfast was coffee or tea with banana(s) and biscuits which we helped ourselves to from reception and enjoyed in our outdoor chairs. The staff/manager was friendly and very helpful, he even came round to show us some coral brought in from the sea. The room was amazing and luxurious with European-style comfort and decor. Montezuma is well worth visiting too!

Only major issue I had were noisy neighbours in the cabana next to me, and sometimes other guests playing videos and things out loud by the pool, which was super annoying when you're just trying to chill and read a book. My only other suggestion would be to have some tables somewhere on the property. I was working remotely while there and had to always work either sitting on the bed or with my laptop in my lap, which wasn't very comfortable. I'm sure most people don't work while they're there, but a couple of tables would be great anyway!

I had a lovely time here, thank you everyone! Lovely guys on reception, and the cleaning lady, everyone super friendly. Big thanks to Jose for saving me from a scorpion that fell on my bed one night! It's a beautiful property, great views and beautiful gardens and close to town. Lots of storage places in the room, including littles clotheslines outside to hang things to dry which was super appreciated and not something I've come across often.
