How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It was very dirty, very hot in the room, and no AC, no window ( no glasses), and when it rained it was impossible de sleep. The mattress was very hard, my boyfriend and I had really bad back pain the next day

The advert said there was a bath, but no bath or even hot water. The guy at reception wasn’t at the desk for most of check in. The online price was $90 without tax and $102 with tax, but still had to pay in cash because they obviously don’t pay tax and was randomly $100. Safe didn’t work
Mr. Dimond, absolutely EVERY room in the hotel has a private bathroom, and in Booking where you made your reservation you should have read that we do not offer hot water and you should also have read that payment is in cash in dollars or equivalent in colones depending on the amount paid. indicated in your reservation. In addition, we sent you two messages directly, reminding you of the cash payment condition. Our company is fully responsible and we comply with the corresponding tax payment reflected in the invoice/cash receipt that we prepare for each client. Cleaning service
The cleaning schedule is previously established and the client is required to leave the room. Unfortunately, it was not possible to enter the room because you were always inside it. The garbage could only be removed one day and it was not possible to make the bed due to the number of objects on it, since we did not touch any of the clients' belongings. That indication is clearly stated on the card inside the room.

Verified reviewVery nice communal terrace with chairs and hammock, sea view. You sleep with the sound of the waves :) The room is clean and spacious but very hot (everywhere at pacific in dry season), they put 2 fans though. Enough space to put your things, reading lights at the bed. Location is perfect, directly oceanfront (breeze) and close to shops and restaurants/bus stop. 3 minutes to main beach and 10 minutes to a lovely waterfall where you can refresh. The hosts are very friendly and helpful, thank you Jochen and Victoria :)
The only downside is, there is no communal kitchen and few budget options to eat out. But there is a fridge and cuttlery you can use for prepare a little breakfast.

Verified reviewSuper chill - the staff are lovely - family run business - you pay for what you get - I felt very relaxed always here - the sound of the waves is lovely - this is not a luxury hotel you pay for what you get but the location couldn’t be any more perfect - it’s near the turtle hatchery - you’re right on the beach - the restaurant next to the hotel does the best food in the area. I loved this place it has so much charm and character

Verified reviewRight on the edge of town, but I missed it the first time as the sign is faded and hidden. If you're a 20 year old beach bum it's fine. If you're older, I soon found a nicer place with AC for the same money.
The windows are screened and face the ocean. The hallway/balcony for the rooms on either side of you pass directly in front of the windows, so any neighbour walking buy can look directly into your room. You can close slatted doors over the windows, but then you don't see the ocean and airflow is restricted. Pick your poison.

Verified reviewRooms are nice, clean, spacious and the balcony is awesome and relaxing. You could sometimes spot small animals from up there. The staff provided us with all the information we needed!
The garden wasn't maintained and did not look much like in the pictures. A little pricy compared to other locations we stayed in, given that you have no real common area or kitchen.
It has been very pleasant to have among our guests. We look forward to your return. El Pargo Feliz Hotel and Restaurant in Montezuma.
