How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewIt is a charming place with an ideal location, right on the beachfront. The hotel staff was very friendly and welcoming. Lorena gave us lots of recommendations for neighbouring restaurants, activities and bars. The hotel is within walking distance from the town’s beachfront. Parking was convenient. Fenix Hotel is also very conveniently furnished with paddle boards and floaters for the pool. Towels for use on the beach are kindly provided and sunbeds/hamocs are available free of charge.
Nothing we didn’t like but just one recommendation for future guests - make sure to liaise with the hotel through WhatsApp a few hours before the check in to make sure all formalities can be completed smoothly!

Unfortunately, looking at the neglected horse across the street that was very minimally taken care of. The poor thing did not exercise the whole week we were there. Kept in a small space that was not clean. Received food and water and attention rarely. So sad. People should not own a horse if they can not take care of it. I think for most people , seeing this neglected horse daily is disheartening and disturbing.

Verified reviewThe staff was outstanding-warm, attentive and welcoming. A special shout out to the manager, Lorena, who went above and beyond to make sure guests felt comfortable and cared for. You can tell they put thought in every detail from small decorative touches in the room to personal service thoughout the stay. The location was a big plus. It had a local, relaxed vibe.
The one downside for me was the lack of air-conditioning in the space except the bedroom. Also, it would have been nice to have had a ceiling fan outside our door over our seating area. Oh and be sure to bring your own bath soap.

Verified reviewA magical place. It is on the beach so you can hear the waves and see the sunset from the property. My kids loved the small pool and surfing, going to the beach at will. It is simple and down to earth, reminded me of Kho Pangan in thailand 20 years ago. The town is within a walking distance. The team - Lorena and Kim are great! Helping us booking whales tour, answering every question we had. Very accomodating and freindly. Great relaxed atmosphere. Chill.
The facilities are simple as mentioned. Cleaning could be better.

Verified reviewThe property has SO much potential! Unfortunately, potential is not a current factor for me now. The property is clean and well maintained. The landscaping is beautiful. The decor in our room was well executed. Our shower was warm, with good water pressure, as long as no other showers were running. Clean, small pool.
The beds are extremely uncomfortable. The noise from outside is unavoidable due to their only being netting on half the windows. And by noise, I mean the volume of the night guards phone as he watches shows, the talking of other guests as though you’re all on top of each other and the bar next door that plays music all day.

Verified reviewLocation was great. 15 steps to the beach. We Intimate and quiet. The facilities are a bit rustic, but very accommodating. Kim is great…friendly and helpful.
WiFi was very sporadic and not available for a large periods of time. You need to bring your own soap and shampoo. Kitchen could use a little extra cleaning.

Verified reviewThe staff, Lorena the manager and Kim the owner were so nice and welcoming. The grounds were absolutely beautiful right on the beach. There were plenty of lounge chairs and hammocks on the grounds. A great pool to soak in.
Samara beach is beautiful. The property is beach front and a short 15 minute walk to town. The beach is protected by a reef and there is no undertow and is great for kids.

There is no AC however the ocean breeze made it comfortable to sleep well at night.

Verified reviewHotel was clean with an enjoyable host. Location is top-notch, can't be any closer to the beach. Restaurants are available along the beach. Quiet and non-touristy beach. A perfect place to unplug and relax. The kitchenette is a great bonus for those who choose to prepare their own food.
Although there is room for lodging 3 people, it would be crowded. Perfect for a couple's retreat.
