Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Italythe bat that made its way into my room was not expected but not enough to dent the quality of my experience. beware when coming in from La Fortuna as the access road from south is not paved and the one from Bijagua is much better
The Finca Amistad was among the highlights of our stay in Costa Rica. Jordy is super and the kitchen staff prepared awesome food. the bathing pools are a nice touch to chill but the core is the chocolate experience. 100% immersed in nature

BelgiumIt was a bit pricy tbh
I really liked the room, but unfortunately we had very loud neighbours and it killed the experience. Staff was nice. Breakfast ok.

United StatesThe road to this resort from La Fortuna was crazy but the one leading to the Pacific coast was MUCH better 😊 Dinner was too expensive ($18 pp/homemade pizza) for what they served. Dinner details should be provided on website.
This place is a bit magical. It is breathtakingly beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. The simplicity of Finca Amistad allows visitors to slow down and enjoy the natural beauty of Costa Rica. We enjoyed a cool chocolate drink upon arrival, served with delicious made on the property chocolates. The staff is incredibly kind. The porch on our cabin was perfect no matter what time of day. We visited the hot/cold tub for an hour before dinner, talk about luxury! Husband and son went on personal night hike to find frogs and snakes, and were not disappointed 😊 The farm tour was so much more than expected, even learning the value/purpose of mosquitoes! Saw a sloth on the tour. Didn't have time for chocolate making class but how cool that they offer one!?

ItalyAs a suggestion, make clear your prices list. Especially for the dinner. 18 usd per person, and not by the menu.

LuxembourgIt’s a bit remote and only reachable with 4x4. If you speak no Spanish it’s a hit of challenge but manageable. The only real issue is the moisture. Due to lack of air condition it is impossible to dry anything once it got wet. At night there are dogs barking which hurts the atmosphere (and sleep) a bit.
Great farm stay with super friendly people. The chocolate making is a must. Also the food and drinks are really nice! Overall also good space in clean bungalows. Everything was working well. Great area all together with man birds and frogs. Also saw some monkeys once. The spa is really great too!

CanadaThe property is beautifully set on a cocoa farm. It’s presented with an understated quality & lovely homestead charm. We can’t wait to return. All our meals were delicious and great value! Everyone working there was happy, helpful and super friendly, we felt so welcome and looked after. The hot tube and bath house was a highlight as was the cocoa tour topped off by the farm walk on which we saw an amazing array of wildlife. Couldn’t recommend this place enough! Hidden Gem!

United StatesIt’s a little tricky to find. They could use a bit more signage by the main road.
Really nice overall property for a unique experience. We stayed one night and did the cocoa tour and the chocolate making. We especially loved the chocolate making. Dinner was delicious.

United StatesThis place can be rustic- with no air conditioning or TV. (which I didn't mind at all). There is plenty of shade and mosquito nets available. Just a heads up. You also need a car to get there... don't recommend staying there without a car.
Loved the nature surrounding the bungalow where we stayed. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed the dinner at night. Loved sitting outside on the porch watching birds and being immersed in nature. Enjoyed learning about how cocoa is grown with the tour.

CanadaThis place is truly special and we are so happy we stayed here. The accommodations are a bit rustic so expect to have bugs in your room. The meals we had were delicious and the staff were very friendly. The free cocoa tour was very interesting and a highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. The location near Parque national volcano Tenorio was great. Just be warned that one of the ways to get there requires 4x4 down a steep gravel road. There is a longer way that is easier.

United StatesI loved everything but could have done it without the comments of the rude person who said "he doesn't work there" but was in the kitchen pretending like he was working htere? I asked him a simple question about one of the products and he was very rude! I'm still giving a 10 but maybe don't allow that person in the area if he doesn't work there or teach him how to talk to customers?
From the welcome chocolate drink to the coco tour, everything was amazing! Even thoug the staff didn't speak english, everyone was super nice and helfpul.

United StatesOur only suggestion would be an orientation! At the time of orientation, we could have used much more information -for example, about the dining set up (hours, reservations, family style etc) and the outside tours ( taxi payment, tour payment and details etc)
Peaceful setting with comfortable Cabin. The on-site tours were fabulous or the special call out to Julian. All of the staff was very friendly. And we learned a lot about cacao!

FranceIt is a bit expensive. During the chocolate workshop they ask you what type of chocolate you want. We asked for Dark and ended up with 1.5kg of Milk chocolate. They were sorry and gave us 4 tablets of Dark. We would have liked to get all dark. As chocolate is expensive that is a bit of a miss. But it does feel they did everything to make it easier for us.
Original idea to be in a finca for the stay. The chocolate tour was great and the nature around really is beautiful. We would have loved to stay more.
