An absolutely stunning location beside a beautiful river and beneath huge trees. We even sighted monkeys near our cabin and could hear them at night. Agi is a marvellous host, who arranged a fantastic kayak tour for us in a neighbouring area. It was wonderful for us to enjoy a quiet stay away from the tourist bustle. The room was clean and comfortable and the meals were delicious and healthy. I would highly recommend this stay!

We had a lovely time here and the hosts were delightful. We saw other people's reviews saying that they wished they had stayed longer, so we stayed an entire week! Sometimes we could relax in our hammocks and watch the animals come to us! We were there with two little kids and had a wonderful time as a family. Although this property isn't on the beach, it was only about a half hour drive to Playa Copal and not much longer to visit Playa Rajada.

The hosts speak English and Spanish, but we were surprised to discover many of our fellow guests are German speakers! We don't currently understand German but we'll have to study before our next visit.

I LOVE the attention of Agi and Guido, they went above and beyond my expectations! I am truly happy of having chosen Cabañas Cañas Castilla as our getaway place to recharge and end the year! Everything they prepared was so delicious. Agi even fixed my wife a really nice chicken soup as she was sick and it was not just a plate, but an entire pot of it! That she even ate it for three days! I had dinner one night and it felt like just eating at home, so good, clean and tasty! We will definitely come back soon. The location is excellent as it's just 10 minutes away from the town of La Cruz, so you are away from the busy town but close enough to get anything you need. Definitely a hidden gem to come back to whenever possible! 👌❤️

Honestly there is nothing we dislike from the place, even their two German shepherd dogs were adorable 😍 We didn't like staying for just three days, wish it was more since there is a lot to do in the property.

We loved it. Outstanding views, surrounded by nature. Trails, a river, sloths,... The cabins are large, clean, with air conditioning, fans, refrigerator, coffee maker,... and a private terrace. Delicious and cozy breakfasts and dinners. The work and care behind this project is impressive👍❤️ PS: My husband would like the recipe for the cucumber salad, he can't stop talking about the delicious sauce😍

The toilet pipe was making noise. We turned off the tap, an easy fix🤷‍♀️👍

Really beautiful and tranquil property. The cabins are very cute and the hosts are a delight to interact with. There is a lot of nature to be seen right on the property, Chickens, geese, spider monkeys, iguanas, etc. Loved hearing the river in the background.

We stayed here on Nov 6, 2024. One advantage of traveling to Costa Rica during the rainy season is everyone else is NOT traveling. We were the only guest staying here and had the complete attention of Aggie the owner. She is a fantastic lady who still finds joy in showing off the beautiful local vegetation and wildlife. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast and the price and quality of the meals were great! Fresh squeezed orange juice for breakfast and homemade bread. We hiked the river trail and the farm trail. Saw an alligator, iguana, many different birds. We would HIGHLY recommend this location. By the way……..as other reviews noted… the dogs are big and at first intimidating but they are teddy bears and followed us on hikes and lay on our patio “protecting us”. Beautiful and well trained dogs.

I loved everything. I stated during booking that we (spouse and I ) wanted somewhere quiet. Aggie, the owner, is so incredibly hospitable. I love the nature trail and at night, open you're windows and you have white noise. It has been amazing. We will definitely be back.

I loved staying at Cabañas Cañas Castilla! The pictures don't do it justice. The area is packed with nature and wildlife. Make sure to leave time to go on a few of the hiking trails. Plus, the couple who own the property are so welcoming, each night they, alongside the chef, prepare a family-style dinner for the guests.

There wasn’t much we didn’t like. The views were amazing, the property was gorgeous and the staff was extremely accommodating. We loved the cabinas!

The only thing I can think of is fans in the restaurant/reception are because it’s extremely hot.

Owners were super nice and helpful, and helped us see a toucan, 4 sloth, other birds, etc. The place is beautiful, near a lake/river (with a crocodile in it), the air conditioning in the room worked great, there were a few bugs (but we expected that in Costa Rica) and the room had spray in it. Room was large, had a refrigerator, bathroom was just fine. Outside area was great and beautiful and clean, free parking. Had a nice trail to walk. Easy to find.

The setting is great- on a river and secluded. off the tourist track but close enough to beaches that we could get to them in less than 30 minutes.

We loved it all. it should be noted that having a car is very helpful. It would be challenging to get around otherwise.

We found this place last minute, not knowing anything about La Cruz, just knowing we wanted to stay near the Nica border. We were greeted as soon as we got off our taxi by the hostess and her 2 friendly German Shepherds. Also greeted by howler and spider monkeys all over the trees above us, it was amazing! Just be careful because they throw their food down pretty hard when they’re finished with it 🤣 the hostess showed us two sloth in trees before we checked in. We saw a total of 3 in the 2 days we were there. Monkeys were in the trees right outside our cabin, it was the most wildlife I’ve seen on any of my stays to CR and this was just in one location. The property is adorable with chickens and roosters running around, goats in the pasture as well as cows and horses by the stables. Dinner was amazing. it was pizza night and the host made pizza after pizza after pizza 🤣🤣 in their wood fire grill outside. Breakfast did not disappoint either. So much food and all of it was delicious. I will definitely be staying here again in the future.
