Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

MexicoWe loved everything :)
Mei Tai is a gorgeous property with hiking trails, beautiful jungle, and freshwater ponds. The casitas have everything needed for a perfect stay. We had a delicious patio breakfast each morning overlooking the rolling hills and ponds. Daria and Sydney were so friendly and accommodating. We loved our stay.

CanadaThis not really a complaint but be aware that the pool is part of the owners house and is open to guests only during very specific hours during the day.

United KingdomWe should have stayed more than 3 nights!!
It's so hard to put into words how wonderful Mei Tai Cacao Lodge is and It encapsulates what Costa Rica is about. The way it has been designed, managed and the thought that has gone into it is a credit to the family who own and operate it. Syr Daria and Cécile are just delightful and their enthusiasm, love of the local area, its flora and fauna just enhanced our stay. A lovely breakfast with homemade bread & locally made jams which were delicious. We loved the facility to order takeaway evening meals from the local restaurants and have them delivered to the lodge at a time of your choosing. These are plated up and served at tables in their own restaurant area. This not only supports the local community but gives a very wide menu choice and saves the 3.5km trip into the village. The birdlife around the lodge was neverending & we were fortunate to see 8 Toucans together in one tree and minutes later 3 different Toucans together.

United StatesAll was good! Minor complaints: No microwave and wish the road to the property was paved!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The property boasts a picturesque, park-like ambiance with abundant native plants and a symphony of birds. Nestled in a tranquil, secluded location surrounded by nature, it’s an ideal retreat. The hosts are warm, personable, and always eager to provide recommendations for local activities and dining. They’re also knowledgeable about the area’s flora, fauna, and Costa Rican way of life. The breakfast spread is delightful, featuring locally made jams and freshly baked bread. Don’t miss the chance to sample their homemade chocolate crafted from cacao beans grown right on the property! The cabin itself is comfortable and equipped with modern conveniences, including ample hot water, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi. One of the highlights was spending time on the patio, where we could listen to and observe a variety of birds, including vibrant toucans. The property offers scenic trails and even a swimming pool, making it easy to enjoy a full day without venturing beyond its boundaries

Germany-
everything. It starts with the awesome hospitality of Cecile and Eric. Everyone is so nice and kind. Then there is the rich, very special and always fresh breakfast each morning which gets you started for a fun packed day. You have so many opportunities to do in the area, like Tenorio with Rio Celeste or a night jungle tour and many more. But you can also just stay on the finca grounds and explore. There we have seen tons of different birds (including 3 types of toucans) as well as white faced monkeys. The cabins have a really high standard and nothing was missing. Cecile provided us with the best tips were we could have a great dinner. Our whole family never wanted to leave - It was our last stop on our trip but we couldn’t have chosen a better place.

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing!
Finca Mei Tai is a little piece of heaven! Tucked up a lane only a couple of minutes drive from a small village with shops, bank restaurant and close to Rio Celeste and parks. It is beautifully maintained, full of wonderful trees, plants and wildlife. We enjoyed walks through the property, visits to the waterfall, hiking and the fascinating Tree Chocolate tour. Breakfast on the terrace admiring the backdrop, watching and listening to the birds and monkeys was a great start to the day. We loved it so much we stayed an extra day and would have stayed longer if time allowed! If you want peace, tranquility and a base to explore this beautiful untouched area it's top! Celeste and Eric care for their guests as much as they do their beautiful property and made us feel so welcome. They gave us helpful advice and suggestions for trips out each day. The cabinas are super well equipped and cleaned daily. You have all your own facilities to cook or you can order in via their brilliant website that supports the local restaurateurs. Also if you are interested in the native, tropical fauna Eric has a comprehensive, interactive, guide to the species you will find on the property. The extensive planting that they have undertaken and the development of the property as a wildlife and natural habitat is inspiring. This is a very special place to stay. Our highlight of our trip! Merci Celeste and Eric.

We had most likely the nicest bungalow, can’t imagine there is a better one 😉. Used the outdoor kitchen one night and ate on the terrace, surrounded by the park & woods. Hummingbirds 5 meters away & tucans in the trees, amazing. Nice breakfast at the main house with really good homemade bread. Did a nice 30 min. hike on the property trail starting from the bungalow.
