The bed was a little harder than I like but quite comfortable. The cabin was sweet though a little tight space wise.

The family style meals were excellent and great conversations. The area and wildlife are magical with wonderful walks into the jungle for the advanced hikers. The grounds and porch seating outside the room is great.

    I like it all!

This place was amazing. Very remote and with that comes great hiking trails and a quiet night. Filip the owner cooked great breakfasts and dinners. They were his take on traditional cooking in the area. He was very knowledgeable about the surrounding nature and made the visit like I was staying at an old friend’s house. Getting there takes a little effort, but well worth it. I took a bus from Puerto Jimenez to La Palma and then a 4X4 taxi to get to Finca Sueno De OSA. Highly recommend if you are looking for solitude in nature and want to go on some challenging but rewarding hikes.

There was no hot water in the room so only cold showers - but hot water is planned in the future. Be aware that if you don’t have your own transport a return journey from Puerto Jimenez to the finca costs $160 as it is an hour’s journey each way in a 4WD. But Filip can organise this for you.

The owners were wonderful! Filip shared his passionate knowledge about the area and nature with us which made our stay very special. A beautiful setting and lovely home cooked food.

Absolutely fantastic breathtaking place. Worth to choose the better bigger villa with terrace. We were sitting every day listening to birds, lot of birds were flying over our heads (scarlet macaws, toucans, hummingbirds, green parrots…). Blue morphos butterflies flying around. Filip and his family are extremely kind and nice, cooking warm breakfast and dinner (local), which was very tasty. This is a big advantage because you could eat very tasty local food which you could not easily find in restaurants. We were doing a night tour with Filip and saw a snake, tarantula, centipedes, frogs… All trails are private, no people around! Absolutely breathtaking was to see the biggest ceiba in Corcovado, about 500 years old tree! Also amazing was to see giant matapalos, lianas which killed a tree and grow instead of it. If you are lucky, you can see Maria, a sloth coming every year staying around 4 months. We would like to come again for at least a week next year. Thanks a lot for very nice stay.

    Nada

An unambiguous highlight of our 6week trip to Costa Rica. This special place is deep in the Osa rainforrest and borders the Corcovado national park. Filip is incredibly knowledgable about nature in general and flora and fauna of Costa Rica in particular. He and his wife were great hosts and we much enjoyed our common breakfast and dinner and getting to know each other. They have build a range of superb hiking trails on their 100acre property to wander off into the untouched nature. The little cabins are pretty basic but well designed and this was just what we were looking for. Make sure you have a decent awd/4x4 to geth there. We hope to visit again when returning to Costa Rica

We had the most amazing time here! Filip and Nielsy were incredible and kind hosts. The food was delicious, the accommodation was very clean and comfortable. We picked the smaller cabin, and we had an amazing view from there, and we had everything we needed. It was amazing to have the freedom to do hikes in the jungle and just be in Osa, especially when hikes through Corcovado National Park are shut in October. Filip was also so knowledgeable on naming species we had seen that day. We can't wait to come back, it was the find of our holiday! We loved every second and wished we had booked a longer stay here. We can't thank Filip and Nielsy enough for making our time so memorable.

If you want an authentic jungle experience, this is the place to go! Located in the middle of the jungle the accommodation is rather basic but extraordinarily charming. The hosts are extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful, and also very knowledgeable about the jungle. You can use the several trails they have prepared to hike on your own in the jungle or ask their help. The homemade food was tasty, nourishing and very reasonable priced. I'd come back any time.

Be prepared to live a wild adventure. Showers are outside. Same for toilets. No wifi or signal. Huge spiders. You absolutly need a 4WD to access the property OR ask Filip to pick you up from the nearest town. Once you reached the property you basically stay there. Meals are provided for extras. You have to pay everything in cash.

This was an incredible experience during our stay in Costa Rica. An adventure in itself. A great alternative to the expensive/touristy Corcovado national park. There are 40 kms of trail in the property, more or less tough to hike but it is part of the adventure. You really feel like you have the jungle for yourself as it is a private property and there are only 2 cabins available. We saw plenty of animals (monkeys, spiders, frogs, scarlet macaws, toucans, insects, ...). Filip is extremely nice and knowledgable about Costa Rica and its biodiversity. He helped us identified the animals we saw. He also offers night walk for free (but we did not do it). The food was good. It is nice to have lunch with everyone. It feels like you are staying at a typical Costa Rican home.

We loved the magical Shangri-la feel of this place, surrounded by primary rainforest. They strive to be self sufficient and all the constantly available electricity is solar from panels on the property. The inclusive breakfast is plentiful and delicious, and different every day. The other meals are paid for and at a time that suits you, and are equally plentiful and delicious. The meals are family style and a great time to share tales of the day, and yes, as everyone says, Felip is a great cook, but so are Nielsy and her niece, so the food is always great. The fresh spring water from the tap is delicious too! Felipe is great at understanding what you want from your stay and making sure you get it

When booking I chose the less expensive cabin, and it was (as expected) rustic but adequate. The family cabin with the porch looked wonderful and in retrospect I wish I had chosen that one. The extensive trails were well marked but the hilly terrain made some more suitable for people in slightly better shape than me. My husband really enjoyed them, all but I chose not to do some of the steeper sections but really enjoyed the parts I did.

It was marvelous to be in such a remote place experiencing the primary forest. Beautiful views of the Gulfo Dulce and nice birding. Lovely family owns/operates the lodge and we really enjoyed meeting them and learning from them about the area and the wildlife. Also the meals were quite good. So amazing to be somewhere with no light pollution and no road noise.

Staying at Finca del Sueno was exactly what I was looking for. As I have been to Costa Rica everywhere for the last 23 years there are very few places left that are this remote. I loved the solitiude, the food was outstanding and Felipe and Neelsie and her son Graevyn were such nice people. I saw more birds in one place than I ever have over by their new house sight. About 30 different species in no time! There are bats in the house but I couldn't jump up to go inside and look. There were two sloths in the trees while I was there in plain view. There are a multitude of varied trails everywhere and Felipe loves taking people on tours. Some of these require you to be in good shape. I hiked the roads as it was muddy and I didn't want to get hurt. We went on a night tour and that was fun to see the frogs and spiders and a fer-de-lance. I saw pictures of the longer day hikes the other guests went on to waterfalls and cliffs! Absolutely spectacular. Be prepared if you are going to stay here and make sure you have long sleeves, long pants and gear and supplies for a jungle stay and carry a first aid kit. This is much better than Corcovado and you won't be disappointed.

The property is tucked into the forest on the edge of the Corcovado national park. After a 16km drive up an extremely bumpy road Finca Sueño de Osa opens up into a rolling hill with rustic cabins leading down to the main lodge. It is predominantly “off the grid” and a must visit for bird watchers and anyone interested in the natural environment. There is an abundance of trails on the property that can be both challenging and rewarding from both a wildlife and hiking point of view. Our cabin was very rustic and comfortable. We stayed for 4 days and spent a lot of time in the late afternoon sitting on the front porch watching birds and listening to the sounds of the forest. Our experience was richer due to our hosts, Filip, Nielsy and Greivin. Filip’s knowledge of his property and the wildlife in it is incredible. His attention to meal planning and the effort he and Nielsy put into the meals was impressive. Greivin became a good friend and our guide on many of the trails. We started of as hikers and ended up with a huge appreciation of, and the begins of, avid birdwatchers. There are no words to describe how this experience enriched us and our affection for Filip, Nielsy and Greivin!

We came to Costa Rica to hike and watch birds. This property was perfect because it has over 40km of trails through gorgeous forest with many old trees. The trails are well maintained, and some are challenging, which we enjoyed. 3 days was not enough to explore all the trails. Philip and his wife are wonderful; one of the kindest hosts we have ever experienced. The food was plentiful and delicious. Philip knows a lot about the local natural history and was generous with his time. They drove us to the lodge from the airport and to our next destination which was convenient for us. We rented the small cabin on top of the hill and the view from the cabin was spectacular. If you are looking for nature, kind hosts, plenty of hiking trails and wildlife this is for you. It is not luxurious, and the only entertainment is nature. I can’t wait to return!

Maybe put more places to sit around the property so that we can enjoy the views and observing the wildlife. There are ticks and mosquitoes in the forest. Don't forget a good insect repellent and proper shoes/long pants. Rooms are equipped with fans, but no A.C.

Room and board far from the crowds at this small, remote farm run by Filip and his family. Good, wholesome home made meals that, as a solo traveler, I enjoyed eating with the family and other guests. Beautiful setting that borders on the national park. I would not say I didn't like this, but it's important to know that the farm is what I would call an extremely remote location and the average traveler should be prepared for that aspect. Good hiking shoes, long sleeve shirts and pants are important as there are ticks, snakes and other bugs that we encountered on our hikes. The outside shower is cold water and indoor cooling is just a ceiling fan. Phillip had done an amazing job of cutting trials through the jungle with signs and a map. The trails have very steep and sometimes slippery sections. I lost a toenail as I only had running shoes to wear. If I had better information before we went, I would have come more prepared. This is an ideal location if you are a wildlife photographer or like challenging hikes. It is not touristy at all, but very natural in all aspects - from tiny hand-built cabins, solar power, and composting. Phillip is very knowledgeable and Neelsie, his wife can spot animals with amazing ability, but she only speaks Spanish. I recommend them as guides at least one day of your stay.

The hosts cooked an amazing meal every morning. And the view from our table was wonderful. The falling avocados gave an exciting aspect to the whole experience as you never knew when they would land and sound like a small bomb. The table was very bulky and chairs short, but our hosts made up for it with their fresh and delicious meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and good conversation learning all about the area's flora and fauna. We also enjoyed being serenaded at night by all the jungle animals, although I wish the Howler monkeys would only make noise before 10:00pm and not 3:00am, lol! We got upgraded to the deluxe cabin, which has the best porch, which used a lot to watch the scarlet macaws and social fly catchers.
