Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

SwitzerlandKitchen utilities not in perfect shape (better to get rid of the cheap plastic knives that barely cut and/or break). Breakfast (eggs, juice, fruit provided in fridge) ok since for free/included.
We had a good stay at Finca Terra Viva. Our lodge spacious, clean, impression to still be rather new. Spacious shower. Great experience for kids to be allowed to help feed the baby cows!

United StatesNothing, it was wonderful!
We really enjoyed our stay at Finca Terra Viva. The property was so beautiful and the accommodations were really nice and comfortable. We loved the tranquility of the property and how it is located on a farm. A highlight for my son was feeding the baby cows one morning.

AustraliaSuch a small point but the compare and small bin weren’t empty daily and they filled up quickly with four of us staying.
An exceptional stay on a working farm. The beautiful breakfast supplies, waking up to a sunrise through expansive glass windows that also had breathtaking views of the trees and the tranquility of the place were all 10/10. As was our host Jose, who was so kind and generous with his time in making sure our stay was wonderful helping us organise tours and he recommended some wonderful places to hike and eat.

CanadaNone, all was so good.
It’s so beautiful, the area is filled with lots of birds and they are right in front of you. Ceilings were so high and they have everything you need. Beautifully constructed. It rained but it remained quiet, good sleep as well. Area is very safe, away from the noise of the city. The milk was so fresh, thank you!

BrazilRooms on a cabin are not separated - think of it as a studio with two beds, so best for families or close friends. There is no blackout so the cabin gets a lot of light in the morning.
Great place - the owner was extremely attentive and communication was super easy! We enjoyed the free experience to feed the animals as well and the nice environment the property has.

NetherlandsWe asked for a night tour and Jose recommended 2 types of night tours. We went for Nighthike Finca Modelo as you can also climb a fig tree. Our kids were 6 and 8 and looking back I wouldn't recommend that tour for kids below 10. You literally climb inside a fig tree and use the roots to place your hands and feet up. Going up was fine, but down was a real hassle with our 6 year old.
Great location and chalet. Loved the windows so we could see the nature from almost every location in the chalet. Chalet was big enough for our family of 4 with the kids sharing a bed. Had an extra outing feeding the calves at night with one of the staff. Jose was very helpfull with handling our questions. Kitchen was well maintained so we cooked there a couple of times. Fresh milk and juice were lovely and the eggs were good. We had a small 'picnic table' outside and liked playing a game there and watch the birds fly around the trees. Didn't miss a pool since the temperatures weren't so hot.

United StatesNothing. We were very happy and would stay again in a heartbeat
My mom and I absolutely adored our time at Finca Terra Viva. Jose was incredibly friendly and informative when we arrived! He gave us plenty of recommendations, and he helped us find transportation as we didn't have a car, provided us with tours, and helped us book our shuttle back to San Jose. We absolutely love the breakfast foods that they provided! Fresh eggs, milk, fruits, cereal, fruit juice, butter, jam, bread. It was a dream. And the kitchen was excellent! We ended up cooking dinner there two of the nights. We also LOVED feeding the baby cows! They feed them twice a day so you have the chance to do it in the morning and/or evening - they are SO CUTE! My favorite thing about Finca Terra Viva was the serene environment, it was magical walking around the farm and being greeted by cows, chickens, a pig, tons of birds, and of course the 5 German Shepherds they have on the farm (they are SOOOO sweet and cute! Don't be afraid of their bark!) Mom and I hope to come back soon. We miss it already!

IsraelNo comments, just worth understanding that this is a villa in the jungle... there are animals in the jungle...
Waking up to the chirping of birds, sleeping in the middle of the jungle but in a pampering and high-quality place – this secluded and pleasant vacation home is maintained at a high standard, the staff is excellent, and it's perfect for children. There's an adjacent farm, so you can even feed the calves if you want! In short, the experience was perfect. Many thanks to the team!

United StatesNothing really to mentioned. As minor detail the knives could be a bit sharper and it was a bit tricky to get and maintain the right temperature of the shower 😉
Very pretty, spacious huts with a great view - super clean and no insects, just some flies. Jose was very responsive and organized tours for us. Everything was super professional. We got all information and recommendations for shopping, restaurants, tours etc. even before we arrived. The kids loved the baby cow feeding and the dogs at the farm.

United KingdomCold showers. We liked going for a trail walk around the farm property, although some of the paths were fenced off or not clearly marked. We did not bring wellies so had to avoid the paths where the cows had walked.
We loved that we felt like we were being surrounded by nature with the large windows giving views of the cloud forest, and being right on the doorstep. The views and surroundings are stunning. Also, it was lovely for the kids to experience feeding the baby cows on the farm. The cabin was well equipped and we were supplied with fresh eggs, juice, milk and toast for breakfast. There were extra warm blankets if needed. We loved the whole environmental ethos followed at the Finca and appreciated the ways we could do our bit to help, including being provided bins to recycle our waste.

United StatesNot a dislike but just be aware that the weather in this area can be significantly cooler (e.g. highs in the 60s), windier and wetter than typical for CR. Bring long sleeves, and rain gear as most attractions are outdoors.
Delicious fruit, bread, eggs, and milk from the farm. Fruit juice was the best. Tea, coffee and cereal. Our host Jose was incredibly welcoming and helpful. Rustic but spacious and comfortable casitas. Excellent WiFi. Great location close to the cloud forest reserves and Santa Elena.

United StatesNothing. It was excellent all around and just like the pictures/listing describes.
You can arrive here with a car easily. No SUV required. The farm is quaint, quiet, close to everything we wanted to do, and just far enough away from civilization to feel immersed in the cloud forest. The beds were comfy, the house was very clean, and the breakfast items provided were excellent so we could prepare food and get out the door early for activities. Jose checked us in and was very helpful throughout our stay with coordinating local guided activities and recommendations for roads to drive. Jose may be the friendliest person in all of Costa Rica and spoke English like it was his first language as well!! My family and I are genuinely grateful for the excellent experience :) Thank you, Jose!!
