Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaAfter midnight, a couple (in an adjoining room) were talking and laughing very loudly. Their bed seemed to be out on the balcony that the window of our room opened to. So we banged on the connecting wall, and asked them to be quiet. They took no notice, and continued to act like they had no need to consider other guests. So I went out to the guy on reception, and asked him to do something about all the noise they were making. At first he said they were out the front of the building, not in a room. So no action was taken. But, after the noise went on - and, after our long bus trip, we were unable to get to sleep - I went out again, to complain. As soon as I opened our door, I found the receptionist was there: he was at the door of the other room, listening. At first, he said it was a private room, as though that made it okay for some guests to be making as much racket as they wanted - after 1:00 am - and disturbing other guests. He seemed reluctant to knock on the door, to ask those inconsiderate guests to be quiet. So I made a move to knock on the door myself: then, as the receptionist knocked on the door himself, I went back into the 4-bed dorm. I heard the receptionist speaking, and then the noise stopped. I think he should have taken action at the time I originally complained, but he didn't seem confident to use English, to ask those English-speaking guests to be quiet.
We arrived on a Tica Bus, from Panamá, at about 11:00 pm. I had booked at Gaudy's Hotel because it was within walking distance of the Tica Bus Terminal, and it has 24-hour check-in. So all of that went well. Plus, I am 84, and I had requested a lower bunk. That was provided and, when I arrived with an extra person (not yet booked in), we were both given lower bunks in a 4-bed dorm. Very good service at about 11:30 pm (after we'd walked to the hotel).

JapanAll staff are super kind, helpful and flexible. They came to the airport to pick me up with much cheaper price than normal taxi, even in the midnight. They make sure their guests stay comfortable at all time. They also offer good breakfast including such as local food. The facility is old but they maintain very well and the price is really good. I can say they exceeded my expectation completely. Thank you for everything what they did for me during my stay!

Latviathe place is a bit rundown, not quite like what it looks like in the pictures.
The location was perfect for us, close to the car rental company where went to pick up our car. the breakfast was great, it seems like a good place to meet other travelers, and some people seemed to be staying there for quite a while.

United StatesGreat value for the price. Super friendly staff and yummy breakfast. Got a bit noisy from time to time but nothing that earplugs couldn’t handle. Good location as well, was able to walk to the bus station to take the bus to the airport. Beware that payment was cash only.

Ultra helpful. I left my phone in my Uber. Caesar helped me so much. He even went to the friver to collect my phone. It is very central. Close to Tica Terminal. Bus stops and town. Also supermarkets Comfortable but pullows need upgrading. Some rooms do jot have charging points for cellphones and computers. I was however moved to a nice room with points after one night. You can buy Liberty sims and recharge. Laundry services Coffee on tap Water on tap Quiet and friendly.

NetherlandsThere were few local places to eat around, mostly fastfood chains, but overall a convenient location.
Surprisingly nice and cozy hostel! Location was close to both the Ticabus stop and busses to the airport and walkable to more central parts of the city (central market etc). Staff was helpful and friendly and the room was spacious. Also loved the hot shower!

United KingdomThe dorm was so small that if it had been full there would be no space for everyone's bags, and the bed sheets did not seem clean. I didn't look too closely before I put my stuff on mine but later I saw hairs and dirt on the top bunk. They also did not provide a top sheet - luckily I had my sleeping bag liner but otherwise you had to put the blanket directly on your skin.
The staff were so lovely and helpful, especially with transport, and the breakfast portions were generous.
