David is a truly great host, food was very good and it is beautifully located by the beach, at a perfect spot between Drake Bay and San Josecito beach. There were two fans in the room that helped with the heat, as well as drinking water. The room and sheets were clean. Nice little roofed terrace with hammock, table and chairs that let us sit outside even when it rained. Thank you, we had a great time! :)

A fantastic location close to Drake Bay and Corcovado National Park. The family owning the place is doing a great job, the rooms are made every day, the food tastes very good and they give advices and organize tours if requested. All this for a very fair price for the area. I recommend the place to everyone looking for a simple, yet very nice and authentic accommodation.

The family owned lodge was delightful. David was able to arrange the outings we requested - it was seamless. We enjoyed it being full-board as it is off the beaten track (which we like), and so it would have been difficult to go out to eat.

Difficult to get to- jeep/ 4-wheel drive! But worth it!!! Interesting dirtroad drive with slopes. Family lodge with three separate houses. Great food. Clean. All type of anlmals and birds can be seen just by walking down to the beach and along the walks going from beach to beach to beach! Great help from Eduardo to book fishing etc. So much more nature animals birds etc and less tourist than e.g. Manuel Antonio national park.

Incredible location a stones throw away from a private beach and surrounded by nature. We saw macaws, a sloth, monkeys and hummingbirds, lizards, frogs and more. Very secluded and intimate lodging with great service and amazing meals.

We were looking for accommodation a little past Drake Bay that was even more remote. The location is exceptional. The rooms are simply furnished. The beach is 50 meters away, the nature surrounding the accommodation, the wonderful family that welcomes you here with authentically homemade dishes. We had an unforgettable experience here for 4 days.

We loved every bit of our stay. Getting here requires taking a boat from Sierpe or Drake to Tent Camp Beach. It is not for the mobility impaired, or those who can’t carry their luggage, though help is likely available if arranged. We are in our late 60’s and did fine… SO worth the adventure!!

Fabulous, small, quiet beachfront motel in a lush grove of huge trees, palms, flowers and vines. Individual units, each with a porch and chairs, hammock. Clean, comfortable beds, room, bathrooms. Large fan keeps this nice, shady place cool. Dining area is steps away with Elena’s delicious home cooked local fish and fruits. Two minute walk to swim or walk the quiet beach. The lovely family who own this place work together to provide unobtrusive assistance to their guests with arrivals and departures.

Beautiful gardens. Clean well maintained amenities. Right next to one of the most beautiful beaches I ever been to. Wonderfully run by a family that’s been there for generations. They will help with tours and transportation. Three excellent meals included.

Comfortable, quiet, and close to the most beautiful beaches and trails, David and Elena’s place was the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. The gardens are lovely, and there were always colorful birds on the property, and often Capuchin monkeys were in the trees near the driveway. We had a little flexibility, and were lucky enough to extend our five nights to six. *Take plenty of cash, since that is the preferred method of payment (fees charged to merchants are very high), and the nearest ATM is in Palmar Norte.

David and his family were so friendly and welcoming. Elena's food was healthy, delicious and varied. Fresh fruit and jucies every day! If David found an animal or insect of interest, he came to find us, to show us, which was so nice. The room was rustic but very clean. And the nearest beach was absolutely amazing. We were the only ones on it most of the time. Couple of points to note: You will be asked to pay by PayPal which is fine. And the other, which is what I got called out on, is that cash is the preferred payment method for everything. But there is NO ATMS anywhere in Drake Bay. So you must bring enough money for everything you need; food, excursions and don't forget.. the boat back! Luckily David let me overpay on the stay and he gave me the cash back.

Everything was great. I wouldn't have changed anything. We enjoyed our stay as this is how life is lived in the area.

All home cooked foods provided by David and Elena were excellent. The location was perfect. Just a short 2 minute walk to the closest beach. One of many isolated picturesque beaches! Upon arrival by boat from Sierpe, David met us on Tent Camp Beach. A short walk brought us to Garden of Heliconias Lodge. The grounds are well kept by David with numerous plant species and of course heliconias. If you want an authentic experience in the forest by the sea this is the place. Scarlet macaws, toucans, hummingbirds, tanagers and many more bird species. Howler monkeys and white-faced capuchins will most definitely be seen in the area. We toured Corcovado National Park (Sirena ranger station) and Cano Island. After Corcovado tour we were brought to Drake Bay for lunch. We chose to walk back to the lodge , about 1 hour walk along Drake Bay trail. Ask a local how to do it! Dont hesitate to make this walk if your physically capable it is beautiful and we were so glad we did. Thank you David and Elena for such a nice stay and for opening up your home to people that want to experience a beautiful and special part of the world.

We could have used a couple hooks in the room - nowhere (besides line outside on the porch) to hang damp towels or clothes.

Friendly and helpful host. Peaceful setting near the beach and hiking trail, set away from the main town area (a plus for us!) Room was simple but comfortable- we rested well after each fun-filled day of birding, touring by boat, and exploring the beach. Food was good and varied.

David and family are very kind and helpful. Garden and bungalow are peaceful and serene. Lost of birds every day incl parrot Tucan macaw hummingbird etc. beach walks are stunning. Food is plenty and tasteful. What’s not to like 👍🏻

We liked everything. We suggest that the family provide some extra snacks and drinks for sale as there is no restaurant or store nearby. It would be helpful to have something to bring on hikes.

The setting is spectacular, a cute cabin tucked in the jungle, with a beautiful garden and wildlife in abundance. We saw toucans, macaws, and parrots every day, as well as an agouti, some monkeys, sea turtles, and even a young boa constrictor. The cabin is a 2-minute walk from a gorgeous beach along the 10 km Drake Bay coastal trail. We enjoyed hiking the trail in both directions. David was a very welcoming host and has lived in the area all his life. He went out of his way to make our stay fun and helped point out wildlife to us. By staying here, you are supporting a local family. The food was healthy home cooking with lots of vegetables and fruit. The cabin was rustic and very clean. The beds are fine, and the bathroom had a shower with hot water. We enjoyed the little porch with a hammock and swing chair. We spent 4 nights at Las Heliconias and thought that it was the perfect amount of time to combine relaxation, adventure, and wildlife viewing.
