How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThis was clearly among my favorite hotels in Costa Rica to date. The room was very large and luxurious, comfortable, with many ameniities. Beautiful pool, convenient parking, and fantastic, generouse breakfast included. I got a room upgrade as well… not a single negative.

Verified reviewBeautiful property, quiet, surrounded by nature. Breakfast was incredible and included in the day. Good options for lunch and dinner. Everything we needed was there. Super comfortable bed and the shower products smelled incredible and were natural.

Verified reviewThis place is a hidden gem, absolutely beautiful! The room was big, fully equipped! The pool was really nice and clean! Breakfast delicious! The staff genuinely friendly! You probably need a car, but is only 5min drive to Jaco.

Verified reviewVery large room and clean enough but quite outdated. The property in general would need some renovations but has potential. Nice swimming pool facing the river. Open air spa was very nice, get a massage there if you have the chance!
As I said, some renovations are needed. This was only a one night stay for us on our way to Manuel Antonio and for one night was totally fine!

Verified reviewThe property was nice and clean, the staff was great and the pool area was perfect. The highlight was the breakfast that we enjoyed every morning and the lady’s that cooked were amazing.
A couple days into our stay we had a few issues with no hot water for a few days and problems with the door handle and locks. But it was quickly resolved. The biggest issue was that after 10pm the main lobby and concierge were closed. So leaving the property or coming back after hour you had to call a head or ring the bell late night so staff offsite could let you onto the property. which was such an Inconvenience. Also you weren’t allowed to bring guess onto property, friends or family or anyone that wasn’t staying there. That was strange when I mentioned it to friends and locals.

Verified reviewThe photos of the hotel looked amazing, but in reality it was all a bit run down and the bathroom smelt and was not entirely clean. The beds were not that comfortable and the walls for thin enough for us to be able to hear the neighbours all night. Breakfast was mediocre.
Although you could order in food from restaurants, it was completely overpriced and the quality of food being delivered was really junk food. If I am paying European prices, I would expect a really high standard.

Pool setting was a bit odd since it was very close to the rooms and their patios. The jacuzzy in our room did not work. Breakfast was included but food was not the best.

Verified reviewThe hotel is close to Jacó, but in a quiet and green area. Our room was big and comfortable, the outdoor kitchen facing the swimming pool was well equipped.

Verified reviewThe pool being immediately outside the back of the room was extremely convenient. The full kitchen with utensils and fridge were also quite appreciated. The beds were quite comfortable. The gate was also very easy to use and made it feel more secure. The glass of wine upon check in was a nice touch, and so were the complementary local snacks in the room.
There wasn't really a mountain or pool view. The breakfast was also only just OK, ranking in the bottom half of the ones we had in our 10 day trip.

Our room wasn’t ready in time for check in. Also once we got it, there wasn’t a cot which we booked, we managed to get it later. The shutters from the shower to the private terrace was broken and the jacuzzi wasn’t cleaned. Finally, the sell this place as a romantic getaway and there was a kareoke party next door all evening/night long so we couldn’t enjoy the private terrace. When reception was confronted with these above things the didn’t care to say or do anything. Overall our worst experience in terms of service and lowest value for money from our month long trip in Costa Rica.

The property is wonderful but if you want to walk to restaurants you need a car. They arrange for food to be delivered so really have made it convenient for you.

absolutely not recommendable. the walls are so thin that you hear the neighbors talking even if they are not particularly loud. it’s like you are in the same room with them. there was one person snoring which kept me up all night. not properly cleaned, hairs in bed and bathroom. everything very old and outworn. I left after one night. the hotel is refusing to refund the other nights even if booking.com requested them to do so. they offered my a free night instead which is ridiculous when I said that I didn’t feel comfortable at this place. I would never stay there again.
