How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

All good, but the accommodation and amneties are a little worn down. Corcovado National park is not exactely around the corner.

Verified reviewLuxurious communal area with fabulous infinity pool & jacuzzi, great views, very comfortable seating areas to relax in. Loads of bird life around, including toucans and scarlet macaws.
Villas too far away from communal area with - needed a car to access. Villas in need of maintenance and brighter decor. Large villa, but inadequate furniture to fill it, gave it a soulless feeling. No other guests on site for our first day & night, restaurant was closed and minimal staff on site. Restaurant had limited food selection when we did eat on the 2nd night and bar inadequately stocked, I suspect due to the lack of guests. Remoteness of villas and lack of guests made the villa feel a bit creepy. If access was in better repair and could accomadate 2WD vehicles, this would attract more guests. Has the potential to be an amazing stay deep in the forest if some money was invested in it.

It was sort of a weird place. The villa was fairly disfuncional with just a sofa and no other furniture besides a kitchen table. Access to the bedrooms was via an outside steep staircase. The lighting was that old style LED lights that gave a cheap motel feel. There were lots of bugs drawn in from the lights. The doors and screens didn’t really close properly, therefore the bugs. The road is for good drivers and 4x4. Very steep with a couple blind hills. The place has potential but it’s just not quite there. We didn’t bother using the little inflatable jacuzzi and I really can’t imagine why it’s there.

It'd been great to have a moment and talk about it but, now it's a bit too late. Bugs? well, of course, the property is located in the middle of forest and during the night they feel attracted by the lights, which is normal we'd say. Verified reviewBeautiful property, with a gorgeous infinity pool on top of the mountain looking out over the jungle and the ocean, feels like a private hideaway as there aren’t many people. Beautiful garden for our private villa with jacuzzi that worked great. It felt very exclusive. Perfect for a honeymoon. Very good value for money. Friendly staff. Great breakfast that was included in our booking (7-9am). The breakfast has a beautiful view. The same area has a observatory for birdwatching. We saw monkeys and all kinds of tropical birds. AC in one of the rooms was very good and quiet (very loud in the second bedroom, in case your use that).
It was very hard to find in the dark and we hadn’t received proper instructions for how to arrive. We contacted the property 7 hours before arriving and they didn’t respond until 30 minutes before our arrival, which was stressful cause we didn’t know how to get in and we didn’t always have internet. There was only cold water in our shower. The worse thing for us was not having a bathroom upstairs where the bedrooms are. During the night to go to the bathroom we had to go outside and walk down 2 flights of stairs on the terrace to go to the bathroom. If this is an issue for you, make sure you request villa 4 or a sea view villa which have a bathroom upstairs. We also had cockroaches in our house but that was to be expected in the middle of the jungle.

Also, remember you asked to be moved into a different unit, not to stay at the original one booked. Lastly, the payment was mentioned to you before you arrived, plus we are not a hotel, these are private villas (private owners) so they have decided this, not me. Thank you!
