This accommodation is perfect for improving your surfing skills, finding peace and quiet or working remotely from time to time. The Wi-Fi has just been improved and is now suitable for making Zoom calls and streaming videos. Miguel and his wife live in the house next door and are very helpful and caring. Miguel also offers surf lessons. He is a very good teacher and can explain things really well. He speaks fluent English and Spanish. The accommodation itself is very lovingly designed. You are really connected to nature and can hear the waves in the accommodation, which is very calming when you fall asleep.

Location is amazing - right on the beach. Very relaxing atmosphere. Everything was fairly basic, but had what you need, but the price was also very low. When there was a problem with the shower door Miguel was quick to fix it. Beware that the drive up to the campsite is very narrow. Some bigger cars I think would not fit.

The lack of lighting was pretty bad made cooking in the evening very difficult. There are a lot of bugs so if you don’t like bugs maybe stay somewhere else.

The location on a secluded west facing beach is incredible. Felt so wholesome watching the sunset with almost none around.

If you don't have a car, be ready to walk 30-35 minutes to go to Quepos. But hey, it's holidays, so you have got the time :-)

The proximity to the ocean, Miguel and his family are really friendly and nice, the possibility to surf, swim,... A really good place to disconnect from the stressful world. I would 100% go back again. Thanks a lot!

Our kids loved the place. You are right on the beach, you can surf or just play on the beach. If you prefer beautiful nature , not luxury , it is a place for you and definitely for your kids. You have all basic equipment you need here.

You have an endless beach almost to yourself. The sunsets are amazing and usually watched with other guests. Just thirty minutes from Miguel’s you can watch baby turtles enter the sea. It is a wonderful place to calm down and relax.

Surfing lessons and off the beaten trail location were wonderful. Miguel and his wife are so kind. A bit hard to get to, but worth it.

Miguel and his family are super welcoming and amazing. The location is right on the beach on non tourist area which is great if you want to be away from the crowd. There is park and baby turtle release close by. This is not a 5 star resort by any mean but if you are looking for an authentic Costa rican experience with a small hand made cabana by the beach this is for you. Miguel is also an amazing surf instructor. My son and I both got up on the board first try and next thing we knew we were riding waves! Thanks you!

Super nice people. Relaxing place. Stayed for 2 nights. Surf lesson was definitely worth it. Baby turtle release just a walk down the beach. Quepos was really nice too. Especially dinner or lunch at La Marina.

Miguel and his family were warm and welcoming. The accommodation has everything needed and the bed was very comfortable. Perfect for what we needed. Also Miguel put us in contact with a turtle release project around 25 minute walk up the beach which was a bonus 😀

If you love nature, surfing and a simple lifestyle, its really nice. It's like camping and you are almost alone on the beach. Miguel and his wife are really nice people.

Taking a car across the river is challenging and the road on the island is poorly maintained especially in the rainy season. Leaving the car in Quepos is recommended. Can be a little noisy at night due to neighbors (earplugs recommended).

Locations amazing and you cannot beat the price. Lovely family and great place to try surfing! Nice kitchen area. Miguel is super great and speaks very good english.

Miguel and his family are yery kind and help you with everything you need. The Hostel is made very naturally and gives you the nicest vibes in El Cocal. I definetly recommend you to do some Surfing lessons with Miguel. He really take time for the lesson and explains from the beginning to the end how to get things done. Even if you are a beginner. Lots of additional add on costs if you wanted to fully immerse yourself in the surf aspects of your stay. If bugs like you bring a LOT of bug spray (and garlic)

Beautiful location, really well built, right by the ocean and an absolutely beautiful vibe to enjoy a more rural feel with back to basics necessities. The community surrounding the accommodation were lovely and we felt so welcomed by everyone we met.
