Reviews of Hotel Holístico Monteverde 3 stars

Breakfast was good, room is nice, albeit without AC. For Monteverde good in terms of pricing.

The staff was so kind, the garden was beautiful, and the breakfast was delicious. My kids loved exploring the garden which was relaxing for me because they had something to do that made them happy! The location was great.

My friend found a scorpion in her room, although this is common in Costa Rica and not the fault of the hotel, it was still surprising to us. The rooms were basic but great for a budget stay. I would stay there again!

Huge bed

Nice location. Beautiful garden.

The bed linen has not been changed prior to our arrival and was extremely yukky. The staff left just after our arrival (7pm), so we could not ask anyone to make up the room. When addressing this to the owner in the morning, the only thing she did, was asking her staff if the room was cleaned - no excuse, no discount, no anything. Bathroom has a very moldy smell. The walls between the rooms are paper thin and every noise can be heard.

We loved our cabin and our stay overall. Fairly quiet, no mosquitoes and strong shower. Breakfast was homemade, with different options to choose from. The owner is very friendly, and we loved the cat and the funny dog. They have free parking and an extra service for laundry that was very useful.

It gets cold in Monteverde after dark, so that’s why the cabin does not have AC, which is totally fine.

Location, access and parking were easy. Staff was friendly, helpful, and available. They were able to accommodate an early check-in and kept an eye on our bags for a while after check-out.

We found a scorpion in one of our rooms and were cautious of bugs, but there's not much to be done as this is the nature of Monteverde.

Acoustic problems between the rooms

Nice hotel, very close to rainforests, coffee plantations and also to city center - 5-10 mins by car. The rooms are really large and have all you need. It is usually very quiet and the garden is well-maintained. The owner has a cat and a dog but they are very friendly.

The breakfast was ok, but we expected a little bit better based on the reviews.

I loved the trails behind the hotel and I liked that it was walking distance from them. It was a beautiful hotel.

The only bummer when I booked it, I thought we were getting one of the private cabins that the pictures showed, but we were in one of the two rooms in the main building behind the reception. It could have been my fault but I didn’t know that there were rooms like that and thought they were just single cabins…

There is nothing to like about this place. I am not sure who is giving positive reviews to this place and the staff, possibly these are paid reviews.

Everything. Starting from the staff who is rude and think people do not understand when they speak Spanish between them. They do not care for you right from the very first step when you cross the doors. The chalet we got was dirty (ok, they changed the sheets). The bathroom looked like it has not been cleaned for the past few weeks, and I would not put a bare foot in the shower. There were no towels (we needed to ask for them), and when you looked at the floor, you could have seen dust and footsteps of all people who were walking there recently. No screens in windows, so bugs everywhere, and only small windows which you could open, so hot inside. No fan. No AC. Worst "hotel" I have ever stayed, I guess. We left after two hours when all the bugs started attacking as it was getting dark. I would give it 0, but there is no such option.

The hotel property was beautiful and it was close enough to walk to town. There was a simple breakfast included, which was nice. There was also plenty of hot water (I saw some reviews saying there wasn't but there was). The staff was super friendly and helpful.

The walls for the rooms were paper thin though and you could hear EVERYTHING in the rooms next to you. This wasn't a problem as our neighbors were respectful and I played white noise. The bed was extremely hard and they only had one pillow for each of us.

Best beds we had in Costa Rica. The cabins are spacious and the bedding is extremely comfy. We could sleep wth the sounds of the birds and experience nature front hand with armadillos walking in front of our cabin and colibríes flying in the garden. Great location and good service. Wonderful experience.

The property is super nice with a feeling that you are in the middle of the forest. Staff are super helpful and manage to communicate even though they do not speak English.

It's a short walk from the town but this did not bother us too much.

The hotel owner was super nice and helpful. The bed was really comftorable. The oats pancakes were great.

Nice rooms and good location.

Hotel manager left on holidays as per our understanding and staff was left on duty with very little knowledge. This resulted in lots of frustration as they couldn’t answer the Simplest questions.
