Lovely stay! The cabins were really cute and we enjoyed the garden with its sloth and porcupine. Great and large swimming pool too. Our host was not only warm and nice but also super helpful when we had car trouble - really went out of their way to assist us. Would definitely recommend!

Great location with such kind and welcoming property owners! The view of the volcano from the pool area is really special and the rooms are spacious, clean, and have strong WiFi!

    The breakfast was very delicious!

Definitely needs some matanence and up keep. It was very hot with only fans available. The beds were uncomfortable.

This is well-located for a stop on the way from Liberia to La Fortuna. We were given a nice welcome and enjoyed our 'pannekoeken' and fruit for breakfast! Keep an eye out for toucans in the trees, we saw lots! The pool is nice and refreshing, and there's a great view of the lake.

There are some fans, but no air-con, which was fine when we stayed but might be tricky on hotter days.

Great place with great view! Kees is such a nice host and he gave us a lot of advise. We were so lucky to see the Toucans right above the roof! Should've booked for one more night!

The property was beautiful and our host was so nice pointing out a sloth in the tree in the morning as well as a toucan. There were two swings our kids loved and the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We highly recommend this property especially to families.

A relaxing property with a great view, nice pool, and tasty breakfast. Kind of a small sleepy town. It’s a drive to experience touristy fun. So hang and relax.

As all the other reviews cite, Monte Terres is a lovely setting overlooking Lake Arenal. The grounds are spacious, and the four guest rooms are well-placed away from the parking lot. The location is wonderfully quiet, free of noise from traffic, etc. Also, Tramondora is an attractive little town with a couple of good sodas, a mini-super, and so on. The surrounding area is clean and attractive. Maybe even more important is that it is slightly off the beaten path as tourists make their way around Lake Arenal, but it is very easy to reach, I REALLY liked the area. The room itself is spacious and has essentially everything you need. By this I mean that the kitchen has more utensils than many and you really could cook your own food for a longer stay. Wifi worked well, etc.

The particular nights I stayed here, the weather was VERY windy, sustained winds all day and all night. This is not always the case, and Kees told me that this is not unusual in early winter but is typically not the case in late winter or as spring breaks. The people next door had a proclivity to break the rules and smoke. I heard Kees remind them that the policy is no smoking near the rooms, and yet on a second occasion they chose to anyway. Since I had the windows open for ventilation this led to some smoke in my room. This is not the fault of the place but falls to the inconsideration of some guests, and that can happen anywhere.

10/10! We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Monte Terras. We were very friendly welcomed by Cees and Griselda. The cabins are very spacious, clean, good hot shower and good working WiFi. The cabin is also equipped with everything you need and the swimming pool is really big and well maintained! Cees and Griselda really made us feel welcome and are the best hosts! The breakfast they offer is delicious, don't forget to take Cees his Dutch pancakes. Griselda also offers (therapeutic) massages. She is a real professional and I couldn't have wished for a better massage. Highly recommend her affordable massage service!

This is a beautiful property overlooking the lake. Our cabin was spacious and immaculate, the host was very accommodating, and the breakfast was excellent (I recommend the Dutch pancakes). The location is very convenient as it's in between the Monteverde and La Fortuna areas, which make for great day trips. There are also very nice restaurants in close proximity (walk or short drive). I can't recommend it enough.

The location had a beautiful view and we could walk into the quaint little nearby town for some food. The owner was super friendly and eager to help. Breakfast was good and served directly to your room. Very large rooms fully equipped. The terrace overhanging the cabins were nice and the mountain view was very peaceful. In general, the cabins had a comfortable feel but aspects of the room needed some attention.

Not sure if this is due to the heavy rain season but the room was very musky and I noticed a bunch of black mold on the ceiling throughout. We have mold sensitivity in our family (had two small children with us) and instantly felt the impact. No A/C or dehumidifier to offset the mold/damp air. Pool looked quite outdated. At night, lots of little red ants crawling under our door so had to put a towel down to stop them as there is a gap under the door. Owner was responsive to our needs and worked with us to find a solution

The host was very friendly and helpful. Spoke English. Massage available on property. Breakfast available on property. Lots of birds around. Like the location near the lake. Several dogs and a cat that made my kid very happy.

No problems for us. Bathroom was a shower, kid was hoping for a tub. We made due. It is a long drive time wise to La Fortuna region, so keep that in mind if you want that.

The property was beautiful and as a bonus we got to sloths and porcupines sleeping in the trees, toucans and other birds flying around and perching, and cute little lizards-it was like being on a nature preserve! My son appreciated having enough space to practice throwing his baseball around. The room was lovely, especially all the fine woodworking. The kitchen was well appointed for making a simple dinner and it was nice to enjoy our breakfast out on the patio. The pool is amazing, long and deep enough to do some real swimming, and there is also a shallow kiddie pool. The hosts were friendly and helpful and made an incredible breakfast.

My son sleeps very hot and the weather was warm so he found it hard to sleep. The other 3 of us were just fine with the really strong fans circulating the air. (For context my son sleeps with a fan blowing directly on him even in winter, so this is definitely a him problem, but he could have used his own fan.)
