Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesIt can be a bit intimidating getting up there in the rain, but go slow and it will be much easier the second time around.
The views were incredible. The pool was lovely and I loved the comfort of our little cabin. We spent most of the time outdoors near the pool or on our lovely isolated deck, so it never felt cramped or small.

United StatesNothing! Just note it is a walk to town up and down steep roads unless you have vehicle.
I absolutely loved my stay at the Mariposa cabina at Montezuma Heights. The cabina was perfect for me as a solo traveler (it can sleep a couple in double bed) and with the refrigerator and stove and coffee maker it was a perfect setup for making light meals. The cabina is private and has two patio areas with chaise lounges, chairs and table where you can eat or have coffee and listen to nature. I was visited by iguanas, coati and a raccoon and treated to the sounds of howler monkeys and the ocean. I loved my stay. Santiago (caretaker) was very kind and helpful when I needed to install a SIM card in my phone. Peter and Roccio were lovely hosts who checked in regularly and promptly addressed anything that came up (and kindly even offered me a ride into town). One note on location is that it is walkable to town but a bit of adventure and quite steep on the return. You can get a taxi back if you don’t have your own transport. I hope to return in the future!!

NetherlandsFor travellers who don't hire a car: the property is up the hill and you need a car or need to take taxi's to get to the property.
The view is amazing, there is always someone on the property to help you. When we had a problem with the water cooker, Santiago brought a new one within only a few hours. There are many animals, among which a very cute Agoeti that happily eats organic leftovers. :-)

United StatesThe roads are bumpy and dusty which of course the owner has no control of. Also on several occasion the city cut off the water but Santiago turned on the back up tank.
The huge house is located on a hilltop with amazing views of the ocean! It is a beautiful house with lots of art work. We got up early to watch the sunrise over the ocean. You can hear the ocean waves and birds singing and howler monkeys howling. We were there on a full moon and the view of the moon rising and the colors reflected on the ocean was magical. Santiago the caretaker is phenomenal. He is cheerful, friendly and a big help and attends to all our questions and concerns. He is a gem. Peter, the owner was easy to reach and he was exceptionally helpful with making our stay comfortable. He gave us recommendations for hotels, how to get to places, etc. he was so easy to reach and responded quickly. When the water was cut off, we got a jug bottled water.

BelgiumWe fell in love with this wonderful place, which we called "our little colibri nest". We felt like home in this beautiful, wooden cabin. We felt safe and cosy in this little room in the roof during the massive thunderstorm, enjoying the lightening falling in the sea (view from the window is spectacular, you will see!). Our host was so sweet - a beautiful person which we were happy to meet.

United StatesThere is no breakfast on the property, but you can find amazing local cafe in Montezuma (7 minutes driving from the property).
The view and location are amazing. This is a peaceful and quiet place where you can enjoy sunrises with a cup of local coffee sitting near little Spanish styled villa, watching birds in the garden, waking up by howler monkeys growl, relaxing after rainforest trails in a swimming pool. The owner was very kind and shared information what we can visit in the area, we felt very welcome here. Our shower was outside, but it gave additional pleasure. After two nights we decided to spend one more in this place. Definitely we would like to come back. To reach this location we recommend using the road from Montezuma, it's better than the route Google suggested.

CanadaGetting there is rough, Google will route you in the back roads which are one giant pothole. Coming up the road from Montezuma beach is much better but is an adventure by itself! A steep up and down over a tiny bridge that will make you question if it is meant for cars. Unfortunately for us the wifi was not working but they were expecting new faster internet to be turned on soon, so byt the time you read this.
This is the place to stay in Montezuma. It is a private property up in the Heights which means you get an amazing view. The cabins are secluded and private but stepping outside you imediately have hummingbirds feeding on all the flowers the owners have planted. It is a great spot for your day trips out exploring.

United KingdomMariposa. I always wait until I finish a road trip to get perspective of all accommodation. Despite what Peter might think I do not write this to be destructive but helpful to others planning a once in a lifetime trip. Mariposa was absolutely tiny, too small to be comfortable for us and not as listed. Definitely the smallest place we have ever stayed in. Below is a direct cut and paste from booking.com which needs to be updated. “Laptop safe, Wardrobe or closet, Dining area, Dining table, Clothes rack, Drying rack for clothing, Hand sanitiser, Single-room air conditioning for guest accommodation.” There were non of the above, although there was a patio table and chairs outside. I find it annoying when listings aren’t accurate. There was a nice breeze overnight with the windows open as instructed but it was too hot outside from mid morning to late afternoon with little shade to enjoy the view and too hot and tiny inside. The pool was a bit of a walk away and there’s a fair way to carry your luggage etc although Santiago did offer to help. The outside shower was great but the inside bathroom area had the tiniest grubby sink and mirror and kitchen area was tiny. We stayed in 10 places on our road trip, all considerably more spacious, most with aircon and some with equally amazing views for a third of the price. When I asked if any of the larger villas were available I didn’t appreciate being told I could have my money back less fees, as they didn’t want a bad review. Where were we suppose to go late afternoon on a road trip from England. It felt intimidating being constantly asked about my review and I know he may write an unpleasant response. I hope not as it does him no good service. I didn’t hate it, the views made up for a lot but Mariposa was basic and challenging. Book a different Villa, you’ll love it. To be fair when asked we were offered to upgrade for an extra $80 a night for the arthouse but couldn’t really justify a 3 bed villa.
The view is amazing. Location location location. Santiago - very friendly and keen to please. Host very responsive. If you booked a different villa I think it would be great. Bohol (owl I think) looked to have an amazing cool deck area and be close to the pool. Also be aware the road up may be steep but is well paved and we had no trouble in an SUV without 4x4.

FinlandThe site is only reachable by 4x4 along the worst roads I have ever driven, full of ruts and potholes 40cm deep. The distance to town was listed as a five minute drive but this is down a 40 degree slope of potholes and across a bridge too narrow for most cars. If it rains it would be too dangerous to drive. So the drive to town on the less dangerous rough roads took 20 minutes. The room was in rough shape, a bit mouldy and dirty in the bathroom. There's no AC and there was no air flow in the room so it was too hot for us to sleep the first night.
The pool and view were beautiful. When present, the staff were kind.
