Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Great little hotel with exceptionally attentive owners who would do anything to help. Breakfast was really good with three choices and was cooked fresh and delicious. Very large room with sofa, small table and chairs and little kitchen area. Comfy bed too.

It is close to a road so the car/motor bike noises can travel into the rooms.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. It is a family owned business and they really care about the hotel and the guests. The breakfast was wonderful!

Some ants but to be expected in a cloud forest
Amazing staff who were so helpful organising transfers and explaining what to do in the area. Great kitchen area and lovely breakfast included. Good storage for clothes and laundry service

Due to the weather the room was cold. there were lots of lovely blankets but actually needed a heater!
Great communication. Very friendly nice staff. Lovely breakfast. Clean and comfortable big room with everything we needed. Would recommend.

There was nothing that could improve our stay.
Exceeded our expectations! Everything was perfect - a very lovely family run hotel. Communicated early with us, they were helpful in every aspect helping us get a trip to the cloud forest set up. Easy walk to/from town & right down the hill from a couple restaurants. WONDERFUL made to order breakfast with great coffee. Room was huge with nice shower. Located among nature with a covered deck for sitting outside. Loved it!

It was not really a "bad" thing, but it was a bit cold in the room, due to the cold weather outside. We could have used some heater, but not a deal breaker at all.
Cosy and spacious rooms, amazing breakfast, and very nice and friendly staff. We loved the stay at Natüra Hotel Monteverde! The location of the hotel is also very good, just at a short drive from the city centre and a bunch of restaurants.

There was not one thing I did not like. Breakfast was good. Fruits were plentiful and fresh. Egg portion was good. But a little more variety would have been nice.
The staff were amazing. And tried to help us with all out needs and requests. Were very attentive and paid attention to all the details

Nothing, it was perfect.
We had an amazing time staying at this family owned hotel! The room was modern, spacious and clean. The staff was super friendly and available to help us with local activities. Great location, walking distance to restaurants and shops. Amazing breakfast freshly made in the morning. I would definitely stay there again!

There’s nothing to not like. For us it was perfect. Great location. Spotlessly clean. Great size room. Home made breakfast. Tours booked. You wouldn’t get any better in a five star expensive hotel.
We were greeted by one of the family owners Daniela. In perfect English she welcomed us and told us all about the area, restaurants etc. We asked for advise on the trips we wanted to do. Because she is local she was able to team us up with a very well respected guide for our early morning forest walk. She also booked the transport etc for the night walk. Because we were leaving early for the forest walk we would miss breakfast so Daniela made us up sandwiches, fruit, juice etc to take with us. It was so thoughtful and delicious. Thank you

The hotel is right on a hilly road and traffic noise is loud.

We may have got unlucky but the shower wasn’t hot. It was more hot at times with cold streams. Also, we were 8mins past checkout but almost done and received a knock on our door to say we were late. Most hotels we’ve stayed in offer a slight grace period and we didn’t think 8mins over would be an issue.
The room was very modern, spacious and clean. The location is amazing and immersed in the cloud forest. It’s a short drive into town which we liked as it meant the location was very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was really tasty, especially the French Toast!

Cute little family hotel with wide , comfortable and clean rooms - also very well located , walking distance from nearby restaurants, some night walk tours and about 10/15 min to the town of Santa elena - also delicious gallo pinto at breakfast The staff is incredibly nice - one day I had to go early for a tour before breakfast time and they just made me a sandwich

This is a wonderful and serene location in Monteverde. It is like 10 minutes by walk or 2 minutes by drive from town. The location is quiet and the rooms are large, well-equipped with a coffee maker and refrigerator , and clean. The bed was comfortable and I slept like SOMEONE WITHOUT A BABY. :D The location provides ample parking space if you are driving to Monteverde. Daniela, Cesar, and team (EXTREMELY HOSPITABLE) were very helpful in answering any questions (before/during/after). Always willing to help with any questions and helped with transport and activities. Three restaurants are within 100 meters and shops nearby. Breakfast (so good that I ate it before taking photos of it) is absolutely delicious and for the day that I would be out in the morning, they prepared me a breakfast sandwich and items to-go. Certainly recommend this location and would suggest staying here if you want an amazing place to start your Monteverde adventure! muchas gracias y pura vida! :D

No heater to help with the chill and dampness.
Great value. Friendly and professional owners. Helpful with arranging tour and transportation needs. Close to mini market and 3 restaurants. Delicious breakfast.
