How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThis was a return visit for us. We were very sad by the decline. Coffee maker outlet did not work. A leak inside by our front door kept the floor dangerously slippery. Breakfast was cold. And never more than 3 tables occupied. Front desk was apathetic to issues. Telephone pole directly in front of our unit obstructing our view. Low season so we could have been put in a different unit. No availability at the spa for massages either day we were there which was the reason for choosing a spa location in the jungle. The cost for two nights and 1 dinner was the same price we paid for a beautiful 2 story 3 bedroom 2 bath home with a pool top of a mountain with pacific view in Dominicalito. We will not return

Verified reviewFirst of all, the staff was absolutely incredible. My girlfriend and I still miss Omar and Jason amongst the other staff! Everyone was so accommodating and welcoming. We didn't want to leave :( We would absolutely go back and stay here again and hope to do so soon.
Overall everything was excellent. The only thing I could think of is that I was the bathroom was larger.

Verified reviewOne of the most unique hotels I’ve ever had the luxury of visiting. The jungle is magical. The facilities are second to none, but it’s really the staff that makes it special. Marco, for example, gave a great port tonging/wine opening show, then etched the bottle for us to have a souvenir. The rest of the staff was equally as accommodating.

Verified reviewThe hotel is out of Uvita but peaceful with amazing views with a beautiful pool area making it so relaxing. We stayed in the suite overlooking the pool and it was so comfortable and spacious. We also couldn’t tear ourselves away from the delicious food at the restaurant!

Verified reviewEverything was great and we had a wonderful time there ! We saw a lot of birds right from the balcony and the view was breathtaking with the infinity pool. The restaurant was also really nice and we ate for dinner there and it was delicious ! Thanks again at the whole team !!

Verified reviewAmazing view from the pool and a wonderful nature around the hotel. You are literally in the jungle. Several toucans are living around the hotel. Very nice cocktails and food. You do not want to leave the hotel. You can stay there a whole day. Try a hiking trail from the hotel.

Verified reviewThe whole place is absolutely stunning. Set in the jungle, this secluded lodge feels like paradise. It doesn't try too hard and showcases the natural beauty and wildlife. You can walk through the jungle to the waterfalls and we did a night tour in the jungle around the hotel. It was one of the best tours we did and far better that the night tour we paid for somewhere else. The staff are incredibly helpful, but never in your face or too much. We went on a rather rough boat ride and I cricked my neck. Even though the spa was full, the team found a secluded place where a therapist could work on my neck and it was brilliant. The food is excellent and the drinks are great too. It's a very relaxing place and because it's small, there is a very friendly atmosphere among guests. We visited on our honeymoon and couldn't have wished for a better stay. I would return in a heartbeat.
I liked everything! The road up to the hotel is unmade, very steep and very potholled. They are not joking when they say you would need a 4 wheel drive to get here. We managed it fine, it was just very bumpy!
