Simple, clean, tidy. Beautiful grounds with lots of birds and wild life. Mathieu and Nidia are perfect hosts and made it very easy for us at both end of our trip! Fabulous breakfast of croissants, toast and lovely fruit with a view ❤️

The only thing I would say was inconvenient was that there weren’t any restaurants within walking distance. But that’s not a huge deal. We picked it for the proximity to the airport and the appearance of peacefulness and one last view of the beautiful Costa Rican nature and it followed through on those things!

The property is beautiful and secure. It is close to the airport, which is very convenient. The owners are amazing and go above and beyond. They made us breakfast and took us to the airport at 5am :’) Will definitely be staying here in the future for more than just a stopover.

Fabulous spot for our first night in Costa Rica. Mathieu and his family made it very easy for us organising a transfer from the airport late at night. They provided us with the car hire details in advance and we got the car delivered to their property. A beautiful breakfast of fruit, toast and pastries was delivered outside the room. Hummingbirds spotted amongst other butterflies etc We are returning for our last night in Costa Rica

Hotel Pibi Boreal is ideal for short stays if you don’t want to travel immediately after landing in Costa Rica. We were warmly welcomed by the host, who picked us up directly from the airport and drove us to the hotel. Upon arrival, we arranged breakfast for the following morning, which we enjoyed on the balcony of our room—a lovely, relaxing start to the day. Everything was spotless, and we even took a peaceful walk around the beautiful property. Absolutely glorious—highly recommended!

Wouldn't stay much longer than one night. It really is perfect as nature near place near the airport but the highlights of the country are then to be found elsewhere.

Spacious, clean room in vicinity of the airport. Perfect location post arrival or pre departure. Great host with excellent recommendations for dinner the first evening and our onward trip.

We stayed here the first and final nights of our holiday. It is very well located close to the airport but is in a rural location on the edge of the city. You do get occasional noise from a plane but it’s not through the night and not too disturbing . If you want to be close to an airport you have to expect that. The owner arranged pick up from the airport for us when we arrived late in the evening and drove us to pick up our hire car in the morning which was very convenient. He also took us back to the airport for our flight home. The rooms are clean and comfortable with a big balcony overlooking a lovely rainforest garden with lots of birds, including humming birds. It was nice to walk in the garden and was a great first taste of Costa Rica on our first morning. The breakfast was nothing amazing but adequate and was delivered to our room for us to enjoy on the balcony. We would definitely recommend this place.

Lovely breakfast on the balcony was so special. The place was so peaceful! Around the garden we saw some small wildlife creatures and loved the plants everywhere. We felt very welcome and the staff was so helpful. This was a perfect way to start our holiday after long travel. Room was big with plenty of room for the luggage. We have traveled a lot but will remember this place for the rest of our lives, a hidden gem!

The hotel is a little bit away from the airport, but they offer a free pickup service and were very communicative. The car rental place delivered the car to us the next morning (for a small fee). The room was basic, but comfortable, especially as it was only a one night stay when we arrived in Costa rica. The owners are very nice, and it felt good to support a local business. Breakfast, delivered to our room, was good too,

We were there in the rainy season so the humidity was above normal. However, the nights cooled off to a very comfortable temp for sleeping.

Absolute first rate service!! Breakfast was very nice. Nice while eating breakfast. From and to the airportwas part of the service - super convenient. We were dropped off at Hertz as we stayed here at the beginning of our trip for a couple of nights .

Mattress was a bit hard.

We booked this property for a late night arrival to SJO. Wanted to stay outside of the downtown area and be ready to hit the road in the morning. A short 20 min drive and you're already in the middle of the forest. Small operation, only 5 rooms. Very personal experience. VERY pleasant staff, who are attentive and bring a yummy breakfast directly to your room at your requested time so that you can enjoy it in peace on your private terrace while looking at the forest. Clean and simple rustic rooms. Cats, fish, and small wildlife on the property. Our kid loved chasing the cat around and looking at the fish.

Mathieu brought by warm croissonts and juice and tea on a lovely tray for breakfast and we were able to enjoy them on the patio overlooking the trees. He was super helpful. He picked my son up from the airport after he arrived late at night and stopped by the store so he could get something to eat. We had a lovely walk early in the morning on his grounds. He and his wife were very helpful and it was a very clean and quiet place to spend the night near the airport.

I arranged an airport shuttle ride but when I came outside the shuttle was full and they seemed surprised even though we had communicated about it. I grabbed an Uber and everything was fine, just a little inconvenience from the misunderstanding.

Very sweet family run accomodations. Patio was lovely to eat breakfast on. Landscaping beautiful and area was quiet. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Nothing that I didn’t like.

I was looking for a Costa Rica small business owned hotel, surrounded by nature. I found Pibi Boreal and its owners and I couldn’t recommend it more. They go above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, the private deck and the breakfast with the view of the Alajuela lush nature is fantastic, and they make sure that we make it in time to our flight.

We loved everything

Excellent location, just about 15 minutes from the airport. The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful, offering great advice on everything we asked. Our room was very spacious, and the beds were super comfortable. We especially loved the terrace and the delicious breakfast served directly to our room, which we enjoyed with a lovely view of the jungle. Overall, everything was perfect, room was very clean and we would definitely recommend this place!

The view from the balcony is different than on pictures - you can't see anything because the trees are so tall that there is no more view basically - it's a shame. Breakfast is a little bit borring.
