How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewBeach adjacent, just a 2 minute walk and you are at the wild beach. Not many people around, so it was almost like I had my own private beach. Quiet and peaceful, and luckily there were 2 fans to keep cool. Plenty of options for food in town and a good grocery store, so I was able to cook breakfast myself.
Water accumulates in the shower and drains really slow.

Verified reviewIt’s like living in the jungle and get a insight into the nature of costa rica! The place is great for excursions to some nationalparks and to many caribbean beaches! One restaurant is nearby, for others you have to take the car. The hosts are very friendly and we got a good breakfast every day.
It would be good if the lodge had windows and not just mosquito protection. Maybe it’s good for the jungle experience (the chicken starts to scream at 3 am, the howling monkeys at 5 am), but in this lodge you live right next to the hosts and that was little too close for our taste. Also maybe the kitchen and the bathroom need renewels and because of the short doors it was impossible to leave the insects out. Fortunately we had our own mosquito net with us - but for people who have none it would be good, if there already would be hanging one.

We’re sorry if some aspects of your stay didn’t fully meet your expectations. The house was completely renovated 10 months ago, and we provide mosquito nets free of charge upon request. I expected to sleep in a tree house, but unfortunately there was only one and it was occupied. So I was given a normal room. If I had known this in advance, I would not have booked here. I also thought the $10 breakfast was quite pricey

I'm sorry to contradict you but we do not assign the houses, we have four different options (one of which is the tree house, two apartments with kitchen and a simple double room) and it is the customer who selects it directly during the booking phase through Booking. Each house, in fact, has specific characteristics, prices and photos. For breakfast, however, we believe that 10 dollars for coffee, fruit juice, fruit salad, and a plate of homemade bread, eggs and bacon served on your own terrace is a price in line with the market. Verified reviewThis location is steps from the beach (which varies on how swimmable it is. Riptides might make it so you can only wade a bit) We heard and saw lots of wildlife. The rooms were well cleaned. The staff was very friendly and easy to communicate with. Overall it was a great experience. I also recommend eating at restaurante bananas just a few steps away as well. The food was great and the service lovely.
We got the bungalows here on Booking but I must admit that I was very confused by the offerings on Booking. When I looked (and double checked) they only showed pictures of the treehouse (which is a single room, they don’t have more than one) and Booking only offered bungalows (which is a completely different room. And Booking didn’t have pics of the bungalows) I’m not upset, I figured it out before I arrived but this listing should be changed to reflect more accurately what you’re going to get. The heat was nothing that the hotel controls but the fans seemed insufficient for a few of us. We were sleeping in the same heat in several different hotels and this was the only one that was too warm to sleep. Hopefully they are able to upgrade the fans (or perhaps it was user error?)

Verified reviewAbsolutely amazing place very close to the beautiful and deserted Playa Grande. Gia and Mia are the best hosts imaginable. Lovely room with nice touches eg. mini bar with drinks and snacks. Delicious breakfast with lots of varieties. Nice dinner place nearby.
Everything was perfect.
