How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewHighly recommend staying here, the accommodation is fantastic the bungalows are each unique and built by the wood on the farm by the owners, fantastic quality and attention to detail. The owner could not have been more welcoming, and took us for a night walk around his nature trail and pointed out different animals and plants. Wonderful nature trail with beautiful river. Breakfast was fantastic, with homemade products from the farm. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Verified reviewEverything was so beautiful and well designed but the best part was the hospital of the owners. So incredibly kind and welcoming! They went above and beyond to make sure I had a good time :) The breakfast is also very good, so many homemade dishes all from the farm produce. Truly a magical place!

Verified reviewPeaceful, secluded and beautifully designed farmstay B&B. The hosts were so hospitable and quietly attentive, providing lots of information, and thoughtful additions for our comfort. The breakfast was also excellent with farm produce included. It is a little off the beaten track and the driveway needs a little negotiation if you are driving, but the location and comfort of Poponé are definitely worth the effort! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Verified reviewThis is a very interesting property to stay at. I enjoyed staying at a local farm with a local family. The room was very nice and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was great. George was a wonderful host. It is a little off the beaten path and the last bit of road to get there becomes pretty bumpy. We had a small 2WD suv and were fine. Definitely a different experience. Very rustic property, but perfectly comfortable room. You have your own little lodge instead of a room. Really cool and fun. If you enjoy staying at a local family run place you will enjoy it here. Wish we had more time to stay, just one night on the way to Parque Nacional Tortuguero. Thanks George!
I would put the wifi password in the room somewhere. But that’s just a suggestion.

Verified reviewIt’s a magic place. Everything excellent taste. Excellent breakfast. From the bathroom window we saw a tucan and other beautiful birds. You hear the nearby river and you can have a walk there. The owners were very nice and helpful.
The last part of the street to the property was bumping. Not so nice in bad weather, but it was worth the drive since the place deserves it.

Verified reviewThis is a charming lodge set in the jungle, a 5 min walk from the farm. Their is a lovely big common area with all the cooking and cleaning facilities nearby. We arrived late, which wasn't a problem as the family was always there to accommodate you. Breakfast was excellent with everything home grown and organic.
Nothing, it's a perfect little spot 1.5hrs from the airport and an excellent first stop to prepare you for your adventure.

Verified reviewJorge was a wonderful host. He made us the most delicious and fresh breakfast that you can imagine with lots of own ingredients (own milk, eggs, yoghurt, marmelade etc.). The place is just beautiful and relaxing. Unfortunately, we had to move on so we couldn't enjoy the nature for very long.
Only the internet connection wasn't that good in our room. But at Jorge's place there is Wi-fi.

Verified reviewIt is a really special accommodation in the middle of the countryside (but still good accessible by car). The lodge is surrounded by nature and is on the property of the owners, which are so kind. The breakfast is freshly made with some home made products of their farm. If you are in Costa Rica stay at Popomé Farm & Lodge, it is worth it - 100% recommended.

Verified reviewWarm welcome in excellent English, beautiful cabin clearly decorated with great care, superb breakfast with delicious goat milk and goat yoghurt from the farm (and I don’t like goat cheese!). Spent 24 days in Costa Rica and the only time we slept uninterrupted was here. Super private. 1-day old and 1-week old baby goats🥰. Thanks to the owner we saw a peanuthead (bug). Very good restaurant nearby (secreto azul).
We didn’t realise it was so close to a river. The sound of the waterflow is very present, but it did not keep us awake (maybe on the contrary 😏).

Verified reviewIt was a very very clean, modern house that was fully in vibe with nature. The night we stayed, it was raining and the atmosphere was great (also we have not seen any bugs!) It had everything, many plugs, towels, toiletries and a mosquito net. The host was very friendly and helped whenever possible. He prepared a delicious breakfast with farm products. There is also a small river just a few steps downstairs, it was just not a good weather for us. Really, all in all, if traveling to or from Tortuguero, this is worth a stop. We will come back!

Verified reviewVery nice and friendly host. Adviced excellent locations to visits and keeps you away from any tourist traps. If you want to experience a sleepover in the rainforest away from big hotels and mass tourism then thats the place to stay. Excellent freshly prepared breakfast every morning.
Just remember to get your hiking shoes out….highheels and loafers are not ideal in this place. Internet intermittent and low signal in rooms.

Verified reviewWe stayed here on our way from the north to Cahuita, and it was such a delightful stop! The cabins are beautifully crafted, filled with small, thoughtful details that showcase the owner's creativity and artistry, giving the whole place a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The farm itself is charming, with adorable goats, sheep, and two lovely dogs that add to the experience. Jorge, the owner, was incredibly hospitable—he made delicious pancakes for breakfast, served with homemade goat yogurt and strawberry jam. Before we left, he surprised us with his homemade ice cream; I had breadfruit, and my husband tried the coconut and fruit flavor. Both were amazing! Also he showed us a rare peanut head bug, it was so strange! The property is so peaceful, spotlessly clean, and perfect for relaxation. It’s an ideal place to stop on the way to the Caribbean coast. Highly recommended!

Verified reviewA beautiful accommodation, which is a little out of the way. But that's exactly what we love. There are two bungalows, which are beautiful! 10/10. There is a lot to discover in the garden, as well as on the djubgel path. It is perfect for a break from travelling and to relax. The breakfast was delicious and the owners were super friendly!
