Reviews of Hotel Pura Natura Riverside Tortuguero

Amazing place, with beautiful views of the national park of Tortuguero. The hotel is in close proximity to the shopping street of Tortuguero. Natalia made our stay even more amazing, she was very helpful and friendly and gave us a warm welcome.

Directly at the river and the room is really nice. The tours we booked with the hotel were really good as well. The communication before arriving was easy and fast.

Central location, right on the river. Easy to get to from La Pavona. Friendly staff.

The pictures of the rooms were a bit misleading, especially the upper part of the room had a lower ceiling than expected from the pictures and the our room did not have a balcony.

The room was great, amazing view of the river, the location is very good.

Only thing we didn’t like was that one day the recepcionist knocked on our door and enter the room to turn the balcony lights on for someone to take a picture outside. Traveling with between two women, we felt unsafe after that.

On the main dock so noisy from 5.30 am

Perfect place to sleep directly on the river side. The boat and the Kayak Tours starts directly on your terrace. Wonderful and exciting arrivel boat trip from the harbor to Tortuguero.

Dead Ants in the bed and the pillows when we arrived. The bed lays directly on a cement bottom. The surrounding area is noisy.

It was renovated or a newer building and well located in town close to the National Park and restaurants.

It’s next a bar. The have music till 3 o clock in the night.

Nice clean room 3 blocks from the center of town. It was in a quiet neighborhood overlooking the Caribbean.

Cockroaches. Inadequate supply of hooks and outlets. It was very confusing when we got to the original room in the main part of town. It was a nice clean room with a good view of the river, but due to construction they suggest we move to a less nice room further away for the same money. We took it and were glad we did, despite the cockroaches.

The view was stunning, just at the river, next to the harbor (not even 200m) and in the very « city center ». The second bed located at the window is definitely a big bonus of this location and the AC was enough to cool down all the areas. We spent a lot of time in the room due to the weather and we enjoyed it. It was clean but it could be for sure improved (AC remote control, windows)

It was pretty loud and our room was located next to the lobby area and we could hear everything clearly. It is also important to mention that due to heavy rainfalls the area was completely flooded, as well as the streets. This meant that it was impossible to access the rooms without standing almost knee high in the water. Maybe a small pump would be helpful to keep it dry at least in the hotel area. The biggest issue was then (irrelevant of the flooding) that the rooms were accessible only by passing by the very left rooms, so ours, and we could hear everyone and you needed to almost balance yourself to get to the rooms. We did not appreciate at all that there is a system of sharing the hotel guest names to the parking at La Pavona harbor, which all in all felt a big scam. Also once we arrived, the (very kind) stuff started to offer us tours from them at three different prices that changed throughout our conversation and timeline.

6:00 am very noisy because tours are leaving so you can’t sleep anymore. Also terrible breakfast, bad coffee and eggs without salt. Just the pinto was good

Nice location, directly to the river. Kind staff and nice tours.

Room had a spectacular view, right in front of the river. At the hotel they offer tours, such as day/night walks, kayaking/canoeing and the opportunity to see the turtles (depending on the season). Guiders are very knowledgeable and nice to talk to. The place is located at the main village in Tortuguero, so it is at easy access to restaurants and the boat transportation.

Wi-fi connection is a bit unstable, but this didn't make much difference for me.

The room was very small, there’s one really small bed that wasn’t comfortable or big enough for 2 people.

The location was superb situated in the centre of Tortuguero. The appartement was tidy and contained all the necessities. Employees were very friendly and service oriented, we really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Pura Natura. The tour operator next to the hotel has great tours which we enjoyed like the turtle tour, kano and nightwalk. The tour guide Jairo was a great guide and very knowledgeable. He made sure we had a good time exploring Tortuguero. Pura vida!

Fantastic view from the bed over the river and Tortuguero Hill. Price was very good.

No breakfast available. Creatures in the room, but that’s due to the location I guess.

The hotel staff was amazing! They were very welcoming and accommodating. Marjorie is a great hotel manager and ensures you are well taken care of. The hotel is small and quaint, so not many other guests to worry about. The hotel is right on the river, so you can relax outside and watch all the ferries, boats, canoes and kayaks coming and going. They have a coffee and beverage bar and have recently started breakfast service. Definitely schedule a tour with the hotel staff, their tour guides are great, they will take good care of you and make sure you enjoy your tour. Jairo was my canoe tour guide, he is very knowledgeable and great to talk to. Next door there is a partner tour group that does the night turtle egg laying tour, and the hotel staff took care of making the accommodations for me. The night tour was a phenomenal experience and a must do if you're here during July - October. George Luis was our tour guide and provided us with so much information on the green sea turtles and the whole conservation program. This hotel is a great option if you're looking to get a feel for the Tortuguero river life. I loved the whole experience, I will absolutely be coming back and staying here when I do!

Friendly staff, rooms are nice and the view is amazing. We did turtle ans canoë tour with them and both tours were good.
