Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomEvening meals not very inspiring. Aerial tram ride was good but rather expensive.
Good breakfast. Excellent location on the edge of the rain forest. The highlight was the Frogs and Snakes night walk which was fantastic!

United KingdomWe would have liked to have gone on the canopy ride but it was far too expensive.
The lodge is deep in the rainforest with lots of wildlife around - we had a wonderful couple of nights here. In contrast to some reviews we found the bungalows to be very clean and the bed extremely comfortable. Lovely balconies to watch humming birds on. They advise getting your drinking water from the fountain in the restaurant as the room water is not safe to drink, so bring bottles. The reception / car park area is excellent for wildlife spotting and we saw tapirs, tamandua, toucans and a whole family of coatis. There’s also a tree there full of the delightful sounds of the yellow tailed oropendola. The forest walkway is lovely, very easy on concrete walkways and has a good hide where we watched coatis. Breakfast is excellent but more coffee and toast would have been much appreciated. Road is one way controlled by security at each end. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomA great outfit surrounded by superb rainforest and wildlife. Friendly staff and a clean room with the sounds of the rainforest for extra ambience. Wildlife walks, including a night walk with the excellent James, and the aerial tram were top notch. Highly recommend.

United KingdomThe lodges' bedrooms seemed a little bit tired inside - they would be benefit from a deep clean of the ceiling edges and fresh paint. Note there was no refrigerator in the room.
Set in an incredible location, in the rainforest, on the edge of the Braulio Carrillo national park, as part of a tram / zip line tourist attraction complex. The staff member who checked us in was there until 10pm, after that we felt we and the other guests were very much on our own in the forest (in a good way). Part of the windows of our bedroom were insect mesh only (no glass) so expect to hear the forest sounds! Dinner was surprisingly nice, good choice including a well presented casados. We woke early and walked on the two short trails (200m & 800m) access for which is included free with the room, and saw a caoti family and hummingbirds. Good range of choice for breakfast, after which we got a good view of the local tapir! (it is wild, but I think it is encouraged to come to the complex with food). We opted not to pay the additional fees for the public forest canopy tram ride and the zip lines - for us sleeping and awaking in the forest was sufficient.

CanadaThe rooms were tiny and duplex style so could hear your neighbours quite easily. Also we couldn’t drink the water in rooms, had to get it from the restaurant. The lady at reception gave us the wrong time for the birding tour and the guide had to come find us for 6 am! It’s a long dark driveway in so try to arrive before nightfall but we didn’t.
The guides were excellent and it felt like we were already in the Braulio Carillo park because there was so much woodland around. The restaurant on site was a good feature, though just so so with the food. Take the tram tour, it’s great to see the trees from up high. The night walk was well worth it; we saw an owl, frogs, a lizard and bonus mama tapir with her baby. The early morning bird tour with Marvin was also excellent. The tours are very reasonably priced compared to say, La Fortuna. Except for highway noise, we felt deeply in nature. The hummingbird area and snake display were quite interesting. The raccoon family wandering all over the resort was super cute and interesting.

United StatesThis was a very good value for the price. The beds were not great, but again, still a good value. They were feeding the coatimundis which I don’t think the should be feeding wildlife.
We needed to break up a long drive to the Caribbean side. This was a perfect stopping point. This property is deep in the rainforest. Off the highway. There are only 10 cabins. Quiet. Nice trails through the forest. Good breakfast included. Very nice staff. There are tapirs. Very rare on the property and if you are lucky you can see one. Very big deal for nature lovers. One night is enough.

United StatesThe tram ride was too expensive. Spoke to people who took the ride and thus said it was nice but not worth the price so we chose not to do it.
Nice bungalows but thin walls. You could hear the people next door. The location was nice. The breakfast was wonderful.

United KingdomThe double rooms come in pairs with very thin walls - it would be fine if you are booking both but you can hear everything from the next room. The food is edible but not very tasty.
It is right in the middle of the rainforest. There are guided tours but also trails you can walk alone. We saw tapirs and coatis without a guide. The staff are lovely - very keen to help and efficient. Lovely hot shower - it was cool outdoors in the evening.

United StatesIt was so damp the bed sheets and pillow cases were damp. The cost of the gondola was way over priced and we chose not to do it after talking to people who finished the ride. The Sloth exhibit should be included in the price.
Great breakfast, nice room but needed some TLC, great staff and reasonable prices in the restaurant. The free exhibits were great.

NetherlandsThe price for the lodge was good, but you have to pay additional for lunch and dinner in the restaurant. That makes it a lot more expensive than other places (like La selva or other lodges where you can see the same).
The location was great! Nice forest and trails, an we have seen the Tapir ans a Tamandua and a lot of other mammals. There where less birds than i hoped (no feeders). We saw a few nice snakes where we came for. The lodge is smalle butt nice and beautifull in the forest We had a great guide for the frogs and snakes named Stanley!

United KingdomRooms are very tired and sound proofing non existent. Also bed linen a bit yuk. Main issue was the price. The most expensive place we stayed in in Costa Rica and it was very hard to see why as all the things like the cable car are not included in price and very expensive. $60 to ride the car, so we didn't bother. It would be much better rating if it cost less or had price of cable car included.
We saw a tapir there and we enjoyed the trails and butterfly house. Nice breakfast.

United States1. The staff who helped us was very friendly, but unfortunately doesn’t have appropriate training or direction, specially for people staying at the facility. During the check-in process, they were more focused on selling us activities than to explain important information. For example, that if you want your room cleaned, you need to place a sign at the door. Also, they initially told us to check in at 2, but it was actually at 3 pm. 2. The rooms were missing towels. 3. At check - out, we experienced a delay due to a computer issue. This was critical as we had a tight schedule. 4. Coffee at the restaurant needs serious attention.
It is great to be inside the reserve. The hiking trail was good and we saw birds, an anteater and a tapir. Once the staff realized that our rooms were not serviced and that we were missing towels, they worked hard and fast to get the rooms done.

GermanyThe bathroom didn’t seem fully clean. The room was pretty damp so that didn’t help the feeling of cleanliness, although that is part of the climate and that should be taken into account.
Lovely location in the middle of the forest, nice staff and decent food (we cannot confirm bad reviews on the food), quiet. Rooms/cabins made us feel like we are in the middle of the forest ourselves.

Great location in the middle of the rain forest, with plenty of possibilities to explore the nature (trails, tours, zip line etc) - although be aware that in some part of the lodge you just have a mosquito net instead of a window. Staff was very friendly and helpful, restaurant is also quite nice.

BelgiumDinner, bad value for money and it took ages to prepare, on our second night we solved this by bringing our own food from a nearby road restaurant. Rooms could do with some maintenance updates. No sound insulation from other room in same house.
Located quietly inside rainforest adventure park. Natural trail was challenging for us, muddy and rocky, but we were glad we did it.

United StatesSince it was in the middle of the forest and the windows were basically nets, it was a little noisy in the night with all the animals.
The property was on our way to tortuguero, therefore great location. We loved to be in the middle of the jungle. Our highlight was the tapirus we saw in the morning very close by. They also had a little trail on their property where you can see sloths, snakes, frogs and butterflies. Breakfast was great too
