Kind people that just started this guesthouse in May 2025. They are upgrading it bit by bit so maybe it looks different next month then it did last week but it was a nice comfortable stay near the beach.

the pool was too filthy to get in and thr caretaker was so indifferent like she would rather not be bothered by guests at all

It really doesn't have much to offer go somewhere else

I had read some poor reviews but I really liked this place! It had a lot of character. It had a garden area with seating, hammocks etc., It had a very nice tiled pool, it had a large veranda. It had a lot of what you might call "old world charm". The breakfast was good: buffet style to start, then hot scrambled egg with or without beans served to you. There was some interesting paintings adorning the hallways. It was about an eight minute walk to the Ocotal beach.

The staff was super friendly, the pool was a plus and the bedroom was veeery spacious. The distance to Ocotal beach was very close. Overall for the zone, the price was very budget friendly too, please don't change it!

The atmosphere in the place and location.

The A/C was a bit old and noisy. Also, our window looks straight to the parking lot. Perhaps, they can put some sandblasting sticker on the window.

Clean, good working AC, and a comfortable private tub big enough for 2.

No hand soap in bathroom to wash your hands. Plumbing on tub was falling apart.

Nice gardens, nice staff, nice breakfast. There’s a quiet local beach close by. Reasonably priced.

The property is really tired & lacking room facilities. I got an electric shock from my side light. There’s nowhere to hang clothes & they provide 1 sheet for the bed. (You are expected to sleep on the mattress protector). You need a car as there’s only one local restaurant & nothing else. A cab is $10 one way to town- Coco (3.5kn).

Location and the lady serving a breakfast - very nice and sweet. The hotel is next to the very nice beach Playa Pez Vela with black sand and not far away from Coco Beach.

We have stayed on the ground floor room with the name Makrame. I would highly recommend to avoid an accommodation in this room. There is no possibility to open window in the room, the room was stinky, windows were extremely dirty with the view to the inner wall. The bathroom and room were dirty. In general, the hotel has a scent of being abandoned and forgotten by the owner. If you visit a common WC on the ground floor, you will discover that there is no soap and paper for your hands. The breakfast was very poor. We were happy to leave this hotel after 2 days. It was our worst experience with accommodation in Costa Rica, taking into account that it was not the cheapest.

The place was really nice away from the crowds and with in walking distance to the beach

Uber and taxi are not close by and there's only one restaurant close by. You definitely need your own vehicle in this area

The place is as advertised, the pool is delightful when there are no guests. The room is small but functional. Breakfast is served on the patio outside which is a nice place to sit. We were lucky as there was not many people. With a full house, it could feel crowded and noisy. The bed was comfy and the shower had hot water. It is a walk to the beach but doable, better come with a car.

Dogs barking, but unfortunately, this is the 'new normal' worldwide. Shame as we cannot find a quiet place anymore.
