How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe gardens here are beautiful! There is a lovely common space to sit and see monkeys, sloths and birds. The rooms are small but decorated nicely. Staff is very nice. Jacuzzi was appreciated.
Note there is no AC and no TV; breakfast is served but there is not a restaurant on site. You would need a car to get around on this area. The pool is small and better suited for adults.
Thank you for your review Paula, We are glad you found the property comfortable and that the staff were helpful and friendly. Our property is designed for peace and connection with nature and it seemed you were able to enjoy this and it makes us happy. In our defense regarding your review and comments, we are very transparent and descriptive on our website and in booking regarding our breakfast, 5 property amenities, location , bungalow amenities, configuration and the type of guest that most enjoys there stay. We are glad to have met and visited with you and hope the rest of your Costa Rican experience was blessed. Thank you, Marci

Verified reviewHere’s a warm, personable, and I absolutely loved my stay at this little gem of a B&B! The property is perfectly located—just a short drive from gorgeous hikes, waterfalls, night walks, restaurants, and cozy coffee shops. Yet, it’s tucked away off the main road in its own private jungle paradise. The grounds are lush and beautiful, and there’s even a sweet little trail to explore. I was lucky enough to see howler monkeys right on the property! The staff was beyond welcoming and helpful. I’ve honestly never had such a personal welcome—sitting down with the owner for an overview was such a nice touch. My advice? Don’t book any tours until you talk to them! They helped me set everything up with amazing local guides and gave me way better options than what I found online. My cabin was spotless, which I didn’t totally expect being in the jungle. The bed was super comfy, the hot water had great pressure, and the blackout curtains were a nice bonus. Although fair warning—you might not sleep in much because the birds put on a concert every morning. Personally, I loved it. Breakfast was fresh, delicious, and local every morning—definitely something to look forward to. I stayed for two nights as a solo female traveler and truly felt safe, relaxed, and well taken care of. Honestly, I wish I had stayed longer. Bijagua has way more to offer than I expected! Highly, highly recommend this place—it’s a peaceful jungle retreat with heart! 🌺

Verified reviewLovely property with excellent facilities just set off the main road so easy to access. The staff and owners were incredible with excellent communication before and during our stay with lots of help and tips. The jacuzzi was amazing. There was a slight mix up with our booking which was easily resolved (with no effort to ourselves) before our stay which took away and worries and the owners and staff went over the top to apologies and accommodate us during our stay. Would definitely recommend.

Verified reviewA picturesque little B&B near the Tenorio Volcano Parc. Well maintained gardens in the middle of a rainforest patch even with its own jungle trail. The yoga deck looks out to dense vegetation allowing to spot birds including toucans ! We had a wonderful breakfast while watching the birds and squirrels feeding on banana and papaya and a nice evening soak in the large jacuzzi. Manager Roberto and his team create a caring and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend and would come back! If you pass make sure you have a vanilla and cinnamon milkshake at the small cabin just down the road and for dinner we can recommend the Blue River Brewery
Nothing comes to mind

Verified reviewLoved the location, the "zen" vibe, the beautiful gardens, the attention to detail paid to the amenities in the individual villas, the fire that was lit for breakfast in the morning on the gorgeous outdoor covered eating space, the delicious and healthy breakfasts, the extraordinary wildlife that was so abundant and made it difficult for me to focus on eating my breakfast lol, the walking path surrounding the property, the approachability of the owners, the friendliness of their staff, their obvious love and appreciation for nature, their surroundings, their community and CR. Proximity to Bijigua and Rio Celeste is perfect.
The only thing that could have been better is if there had been a wee bit more sun and a tad less rain, but we take nature on natures terms and we had prepared for rain clothing wise and dry bags etc for cameras. We were in a rain forest/jungle and the rain brought out the extraordinary colours of the foliage. I only mention this in case visitors are surprised by the weather. As a friend once said, there is no bad weather, only bad clothing. Be prepared and this will be an amazing place for you to stay.
Hi Brian ! Thank you for your kind comments. To clarify, our weather this season has been much rainier than normal for this time of year -- typically we have some rain but sun and warmer temperature during the day. As of this week, our weather has turned to be much warmer with sun and rain in the night or evening as is normal. But you are correct about the appreciation of the rainforest and the vividness of the colors, wildlife, birds ect... We are blessed with abundance! Thank you for selecting our property and we hope to see you again soon... :) Marci

Verified reviewOur family (kids, parents and grandparents) loved our stay at Sueno Rio Celeste. Marci and Bryant have put so much work and love into their property and it shows. The casitas have everything you need and the beds are very comfortable. Birdwatching in the morning was our favorite, we saw many types of colorful birds and even a sloth! Breakfast was delicious, generous and homemade. And the staff were delightful. We would highly recommend staying at Sueno Rio Celeste!

Verified reviewIt’s a wonderful family-owned property. The owner and staff made us feel very much at home. Birdwatching was fantastic; a flock of toucans flew by twice a day. The breakfasts were the best of anywhere we stayed, freshly made with different juices. The rooms were comfortable and well set-up; each bed was positioned in its own alcove. The unit had a porch with a hammock and refrigerator, and came equipped with some dishes and cutlery. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. It’s a short drive to Tenorio Volcano National Park and Tapir Valley. We saw tapirs at both locations.
