Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Costa RicaUnparalleled view of the volcano and lake, Isiah and Ingrid are amazing hosts. The breakfast included was exceptional, great coffee. An incredible place to stay and explore the pueblito of El Castillo, Lake Arenal, the National Park, and La Fortuna.

ColombiaThe location is a bit complex, as at night after 6 p.m. you lose visibility and access, and i7t's not easy and dark. But it's a good price for a clean, warm bed and a great breakfast.
I liked the view, the attention of the owner, always willing to give the best information and help, the breakfast is very good and despite the simple location, everything was very clean.

GermanySuch a beautiful place! Unfortunately it was raining when I was there so the volcano was covered in clouds. Peaceful, calm environment, a comfy bed and the most adorable cats and dogs. Isaias was super friendly and prepared delicious breakfast in the morning.

United StatesAbove all, we loved the hospitality that we felt here. Ingrid and Isais were the kindest, loveliest people and we’re so grateful that they opened their home to us! The coffee was fantastic (seriously, couldn’t get enough) and having kittens around was the cherry on top!

BelgiumAcces road was in very bumpy condition.(Oct 2024) 160m long, uphill. Incredibly locals could drive up in a normal car ??? but you need a 4x4 or go on foot.
Super friendly hosts Magnific view of vulcano from just outside your cottage/tent. Kitchen and sanitary are chared. Good breakfast. Ideal for bird-watchers, many birds just pass by in early morning. (Toucan).

Papua New GuineaSome might not like the drive (~400m) up to the property. It was nothing in a Landcruiser but might be a little sketch in a Camry. Anyway it keeps the riff raff out 😁
Really an exceptional spot. The accommodations are very rustic (think glorified camping), so as long as you're not expecting the Marriott you feel part of the forest with the sound of toucans and howler monkeys - and the views of Arenal and the lake are out of this world. Owners are lovely and have a ton of local information. Can walk to lake, river and nearby store and restaurant. Would stay again in a heartbeat and for longer.

United StatesThe road up to the property was quite rough, & may have been difficult to navigate if we didn't have a vehicle with four-wheel drive.
We thought this was an absolutely beautiful property, with a tremendous view of the mountain & the lake. We enjoyed listening to & watching for the birds in the area. Each morning breakfast was prepared & was very tasty, with fresh juice & well-fried plantain. The room was clean & had power to charge our devices, & there was an electric fan, although it was cool enough that we didn't need to use it. There were also several kittens roaming around & a couple small dogs who we enjoyed interacting with.

GermanyThe kitchen you use is the one of the owners family. So you cook literally in their living room.
We stayed in tents but with real beds so quite comfortable. The view over the lake and vulcano is beautiful but the road to the location is very steep and rocky. Maybe not manageble at rain with 2WD. Walking is then 5min by foot.

United StatesThe driveway to the house was steep, dirt and long which was difficult on a motorcycle fully loaded and 2 up. The host sent pictures of where to park if your vehicle isn't a 4x4. Unfortunately, I read the informationa after we rode to the top. The next day we parked below and walked up.
The tent and bed were comfortable with a canopy structure over the top to create shade and keep the tent dry. The view was amazing with a fresh breeze and sunlight both days, which was unusual for the area. The breakfast was simple and delicious with rice and beans, scrambled eggs, grilled plantain/banana, fresh orange juice and coffeee. The host didn't speak English but spoke slowly enough for us to understand, and he was very kind. There was a restaurant at the crossroads Mesa de Mama that was a 20 minute walk, and a pizza place that had delicious pizza a 10 minute walk, which was next to a small convenient store where we bought beer and snacks. This was our favorite place to stay for the week.
