How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe property is absolutely beautiful. A nice quaint little escape in Tamarindo it was everything I could have imagined. It’s in a prime location in Tamarindo that is walkable to pretty much everything! It’s a great place for a solo traveler as I was traveling by myself for a few days!

Verified reviewCozy and good vibes around the property. It is relaxing and beautifully landscaped. The owner and staff are really nice and friendly and go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. The breakfast is really good as well. The room and bed were comfortable. No complaints.
Nothing really. Maybe it was on the edge of being a little far from the beach. But still very walkable to everything in town.

Verified reviewThe owner, Shannon, is lovely and very keen on making your stay as enjoyable as she can. It's a very serene place, but in walking distance to the main attractions of the town. The pool is a nice touch, but it's often full of leaves and not heated (and probably not chlorinated/salted).
The B&B doesn't actually offer yoga or surfing lessons, despite its name. Like it's name - it is adult friendly, as evident from the sounds of other guests having fun during the night. If you're a light sleeper - bring good earplugs. The Bungalows are fully from wood, and there is space between the beams, so some insects do come into your room.

While we don't directly provide yoga or surf lessons, I do have community partners that I refer my guest to quite regularly and they are always very happy with their lessons. As for the pool, it is definitely chlorinated and cleaned daily. However, as we have a great deal of foliage on the property and you were traveling during the windy season, it is impossible to keep the pool leaf free at all times. And, yes, you are correct. As described, the bungalows are made in the traditional style, using teak wood, with no insulation or drywall. So, depending on the other guests who are staying at the time, or in adjacent properties, there is the possibility that you will hear them. If you are a light sleeper, it is always a good idea to bring ear plugs, just in case. But, in general, we do not have many noise complaints. Even now, which is the high season and there are many people enjoying Tamarindo. Also, I wish you had mentioned any concern with bugs when you were here. Although we do our best to peacefully co-exist with nature here, we could have provided some spray for your use. Any insects, most often ants, are generally just searching for water and will stay central to a water source, such as a bathroom, and leave as quickly as they come. In the jungle, this is a very hard thing to control, as you can imagine. I hope I have addressed all of your concerns. Again, I truly appreciate the feedback. I take guest concerns very seriously and always want my guests to have the best experience possible. Thanks again for staying with us. You and Judy were both lovely!

The bathroom didn’t have a door as indicated in other reviews, but there is a full bathroom next to the pool if needed.

Aircon kept turning off during the day (think it may have been turned off remotely), shower wasn’t hot or very powerful, shared pool is lovely but the experience is heavily influenced by who else is staying (we had noisy neighbours who played loud music in the pool all day!), curtains didn’t block any light out (bring an eye mask if you need it dark to sleep), not much storage in the room

Verified reviewThe hosts were gracious, welcoming and so helpful. We thought the breakfasts were delicious and enjoyed the outdoor seating and atmosphere. The location was close to the restaurants and shops and a quick walk to the beach. We liked the rainforest vibe and decor.
The beds and pillows were not very comfortable. If they were upgraded it would make the stay so much more comfortable and better. The pool could use additional seating as well.

Verified reviewVery cute little bungalows tucked back into a quieter spot in tamarindo. The owner Nico was super nice as well as an employee named Jill. The free breakfast was very tasty and I appreciate that it wasn’t the same thing every morning. Parking was easy and convenient. And the pool offered a nice hang out spot to lounge. Overall lovely experience. Would recommend!
No big compliments! A few small things like we had to go downstairs from our bungalow to use the bathroom and we had some loud neighbors (but not the owners fault in that)

Verified reviewPerfect location for downtown Tamarindo and beach access. Walking distance to everything with short drives to beautiful neighboring beaches. The bungalow style rooms are a wonderful experience and Nico & Leti are very friendly and accommodating. The breakfasts were delicious and included with your stay. I would highly recommend staying here & would definitely visit this lovely oasis again in the future.

We took full advantage of all offerings including excellent recommendations from places to eat, things to do and visiting an uncrowded beach (Playa Grande) for which you take a boat across to reach.

Verified reviewReally clean and cozy bungalow! The pool area was reallly nice to relax. The staff prepared a fresh breakfast every morning and they cooked something different each day. Nico & Letti were really friendly and helpful - they provided many good reccomendations and activities. The location was good - you can totally get everywhere without a car.
Everything was amazing but the only downside was that there was no AC in the room - only a fan. During the day it was really hot in the room but it got colder in the evening.

Verified reviewVery cute bungalows, short 5 min walk to center. Host is extremely nice and very helpful, very efficient communication beforehand. Very good breakfast. Overall we enjoyed our stay!
No toilet door and no AC. In the end with the fan and the outside breeze it wasn’t too bad and we slept fine!
