How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe staff and owners were all helpful, friendly people. The kitchen was very clean and well equipped. The cat was very special. Birdwatching from the upper deck overlooking the back jungle clearing was very rewarding with comfy hammocks and chairs. The pool is amazing with waterfall and colored lights. The perfect cool down.
There was nothing that I didn't like. The hostel is a walk from town because it is in the jungle, but I think less than 2 kilometers to bank, shops and restaurants, and to the malecom. It was very pleasant to be lodging away from city bustle.

Verified reviewWe received great detailed information about the checkin prossess and assistance from the owners mother. What a lovely design for a hostel/apartment style accommodation. A beautiful clean refreshing pool. Nice sized rooms, good kitchen area. Staying here gave us opportunities to meet the travelers from Costa Rica and from around the world. We took a 15 minute walk to downtown Quepos and the park/walkway at sunset and explored the interesting places to eat.
We loved everything about this place. However, wherever we stay, we are prepared for noisy environments. Bringing earplugs is a good idea. Wind animal and bird noises sometimes other people talking can keep you awake if you want to retire early. Some young people there were talking and laughing in the common area but were respectful and were quiet by 10 PM. We enjoyed this but some people might not.

Verified reviewThe pool! Is amazing to have a pool after coming back from manuel antonio park (the park closes at 3 pm). The container rooms are quite small but enough for a couple, we had an aircon and didn't mind it at all. The kitchen is well equipped and bonus - you can see animals from the pool (we saw a few ara parrots right from the pool). Very secure parking included with the room. The staff / owner are nearby to help if needed. Wifi is fast and stable
People are mentioning it - it is like 10 - 15min walk to restaurants or supermarket. We had a car, didn't mind it one bit.

Verified reviewIt was a really cute and unique place. Tere was wonderful and helped us out with check in and explained everything thoroughly. The balcony was wonderful and lots of birds visited in the morning.
Could have used some more signage- We stopped at the parking garage but should have been up by the property. Not a big deal but a little sign saying check in ahead would have been helpful.

Verified reviewStaff is great!
The rooms with shared bathrooms are a bit small and doesn’t air very well, but ok for the price.

Verified reviewThis was an eclectic stay as they used old containers, that likely fell off a ship somewhere (so good that they aren't still 'out there') to build a site such as this. Terri, was super friendly and accommodating. Their little pool was fun as well.
It is really 'off the beaten path' so once you're there, you're there. It's tough getting your car in and out of this little lane-way and there's barking dogs everywhere, but there are everywhere in CR (Costa Rica) anyway. At least no roosters. I'd go back in a New York minute.

Verified reviewBeautiful outdoors, Owners nice and helpful, Right in the middle of the jungle, really feels like out of time and space Bed comfy with fan 👌 Great pictures for Instagram xdddd
A bit hard to find, indications a little tricky but still manageable! Great for a night to disconnect, although it's not really walkable distance from downtown and points of interest Lack of storage place in the room, not a single shelf (but I'm sure it can be fix pretty easily 😀)

Verified reviewThe hostel was great, very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We liked that it was walking distance from town but on the outskirts in thr jungle. We saw mackaws and squirrels in the trees from the pool. The room was comfortable and had AC, the kitchen was well equipped and we loved the pool. We also loved the friendly cat.
Not the fault of the hostel at all - but the people in the room next door arrived home from partying at 3am and were talking very loudly and then on the phone until 4:30/5am. The walls are thin so you can hear everything. Like I said, not the accomodations fault but just bring earplugs just in case.

Verified reviewA wonderful stay. Exceptionally clean. All my questions were responded to very quickly. I was allowed to check in early AND upgraded automatically for free to a lovely room with sliding glass doors & excellent A/C. I got a great recommendation for a seafood restaurant called Sabromar overlooking the ocean for sunset that was NOT priced for foreigners. The family that runs this is very sweet and stored my luggage after checkout so I could go snorkeling before my afternoon bus ride. They even let me shower after I came back to pick up my luggage. The best part of this place is the location, which is a leisurely walk to town, but removed enough from the hustle and bustle that it does in fact feel like a jungle retreat. Thank you!
My bathroom was located next to the shared kitchen, and had windows that didn’t close (just screened). So, when other guests were up late chatting, I could hear them quite well. Maybe a noise curfew in common spaces could be helpful.

No hot showers, a cat that doesn’t belong to the hostel meows the whole night and tries to break into your room lol
