Unfortunately whole positive experience was ruined as there is a very noisy bar next door and music was very loud until 2am.

The only thing that wasn't so great was the shower, which only provided lukewarm water.

We loved this place. The tours, guided by Cristian, were great and the staff were all friendly. We did 3: a day tour, a night tour and a canoe tour. Our room was large and comfortable and had a fridge which was very convenient. The kitchen, which we were able to use, had a microwave and kettle. The best thing was the large terrace directly outside our room which overlooked the river/lake. We could have sat there for hours watching life on the river. There were plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance.

A bit noisy sometimes

The location of the property in the village onto the canal is unique. The staff especially Manuel was very helpful. We took advantage of an in-house guide (Hector) with whom we did 3 tours in the adjacent National Park. Thanks to Hector we saw a lot of the animals and learnt a lot about the nature ecosystem.

The shower.

The best part of this property was the balcony/terrace. You could sit here all day and night watching the boats go buy and the sunset. It would have been perfect if there were comfortable chairs on the balcony but we realise nowhere in Costa Rica have comfortable seats! The room was large, staff were very helpful and we did some great tours with knowledgeable guides.

Everything was great. Unfortunately there is some loud noise from music in the town late at night, nothing the guesthouse can do about that (bring some earplugs to be sure to sleep well).

We had an amazing stay at the guesthouse. Communication and arrival was very easy, we were dropped off right at their dock. Emanuel was super friendly and helpful with recommendations and we were right in the town and close to the national park. The turtle nesting tour we did with Raquel was incredible!

The stay at the tortuguero guesthouse was definitely really nice. Also the organized tours worked really well. The location is beautiful and nearby restaurants are delicious. The only problem was the night club, that was really loud every night ( we were there for a long weekend). I can’t say how it is on weekdays, but during our stay it was too much for us - even with noice canceling headphones it was hard to sleep.

Staff were a bit light on information regarding tours e.g you need to buy a national park ticket prior to going on a tour but this isn’t made very clear.

Comfortable, clean and convenient. Fabulous view of the river from our room. The real positive aspect of this place was the convenience and quality to the tours. We took two tours which were led by friendly, knowledgeable and interesting guides. Also reasonably priced. Highly recommend taking their tours.

It was closed it the morning so you couldn’t catch the ferry. The patio was beautiful but too hot to sit.

Out of their control but less noisy neighbors!

The view, location, cleanliness and staff were fantastic. Our room had access to the balcony to watch the boats go by on the a.m. and the wonderful sunsets at night. We did two tours, Emanuel at front of house was helpful arranging for us- a morning canoe with Norton and a night walk with Lilly, both very friendly and knowledgeable guides. We also had time to do a walk in the National Park which is just a few minutes walk from the hotel. The “neighboring” restaurant/bar was VERY loud for majority of night. Even thought we had AC running alnught to try and drown the sound out it was a lot. There is no food service at the hotel but a full share kitchen we used to cook. Great place.

The hot water wasn't working in the bathroom. In fairness, they did try to resolve on the second day but it wasn't particularly effective. We stayed for 2 nights and would have appreciated a housekeeping visit.

Great waterside location right by the national park with fabulous views from the balcony (shared). The staff were lovely and very responsive, sending useful information prior to our visit. We booked a 'combo' tour with them - canoe trip and day time/evening walks. Highly recommended and the guide was extremely good.

You can hear loud music and the DJ every night from the Disco Tech/Club nearby. It was very difficult to sleep well.

The staff was excellent, helpful and friendly. The facility was always clean. The kitchen was always open for use. The location was convenient. You can book and pay for tours at the reception desk downstairs.

The guesthouse is located at the gate of Tortuguero National park with its own private dock. We arrived by collectivo ferry boat and was dropped of at the private guest house dock. We rented kayak directly from the guest house. We simply walked down stairs and kayak were ready on the private dock for us. The guest house rooms are on the 2nd floor with a patio overlooking the canal. Its a great place to stay!

There's a gate to go out but that was not open in the morning. Neither was the door to the back dock. This was resolved in 10-15 minutes but this is a hazard to not have a way for guests to leave at will.

The room is right on the river with doors leading out to the deck. The view is lovely and there's a great aquarium with interesting fish species on the deck. The AC was a treat at night. Definitely one of the best options in Tortuguero for an economical stay.
