Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyMaybe the price :-)
A nice hotel with a lovely pool area in a prime location near the entrance to the national park and the beach. The breakfast was also good. There was a dehumidifier in our room, which helped to dry our clothes overnight.

United StatesParking was limited, but they seem to have an okay system worked out for it. And the pillows where a bit too firm for me.
The location was great 200 meter walk to the national park, and 100 meters to the public beach. The pool was lovely. The bed was comfy. The staff was super nice and welcoming.

United Statesthe parking was tight / Wi-Fi was spotty. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but something to note. Overall, though, it was a wonderful stay and we’d come back again.
La Vela Boutique Hotel was wonderful! It’s in the perfect spot—just a short walk to Manuel Antonio National Park, the beach, and great restaurants. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the pool was nice, and the staff made us feel so welcome. We’d definitely stay here again!

United StatesWe had to have 2 separate rooms for our family of 4, they said “adjoining” but only via an outside patio that was open to the public
Fabulous location. We walked to the beach and could walk to the entrance of Manuel Antonio National Park (which is important because it’s so crowded and parking is difficult). Beautiful, accommodating, and not a bad price!

SpainPipes in the hotel were extremely noisy. The soundproof could also be improved.
The hotel is located perfectly: close the park entrance and the beach. There are many restaurants and supermarkets in the area. The stuff was friendly and helpful, breakfasts were delicious, and the room cleaning service exceeded the expectations.

United KingdomHard pushed but no tv in lounge area, so you had to watch tv from bed, also wasn't happy about when you left your key it was just placed in a.pot on the reception desk, which wasn't always staffed. No checks as to which key or questions from.staff (if there) about mat hing names to keys. Often different people throughoutthe day.. Beach is a bit grotty, but we made full.use of the pool area and sunbeds.
Upgraded room to master suite which was a very nice gesture for our honeymoon, plus a bottle of red wine (3 nt stay). Fridge and microwave in room. Which was large and very comfortable massive bed and nice terrace area with sun beds.

PortugalNothing.
The LOCATION was amazing. We had a car rental but only used it once during our entire stay. Can walk to the beach, Manuel Antonio Park, and plenty of restaurants and markets around. Pool was fun! Saw monkeys, sloth, iguanas, and lizards on property. Breakfast was fantastic every morning. Traveled with our 3 year old and felt well taken care of by staff.

United KingdomThe atmosphere was relaxed and the facilities well thought through and beautiful. The place is surrounded by palms, iguanas, basilisks and monkeys, but was also always extremely clean. I loved that both accommodations we stayed in as a family had very well equipped kitchens, which gave us the flexibility that we needed as a family. The family suite was absolutely divine. The common room was enormous and so beautiful. If you wake up early in the morning you can observe the monkeys taking a walk on the electricity cables and surrounding trees (often with their babies!) from the terrace.

SerbiaMissing shower handle (only shower top available) is only minus we found. Looks like soundproof is not so good as well, but all the guests were quit so it was not a problem.
Great location in the skirts of National Park, and hotel itself is a green oasis. A lot of animals comming to hotel yard from time to time. Rooms are comfortable, nice, quiet and cool in the evenings. We liked the pool, it is quiet and water is nice temperature. Personnel is very polite and cocktails in the bar are great. We loved breakfast too, a lot of fruit and nice cofee. A lot of restaurants near by for the dinner, but you can also try pizza from the oven in the hotel. Beach is also few minutes walk.

United KingdomWe were only there 1 night, but if we had stayed longer I would have preferred a room on the 1st floor with a bit more natural light.
Great location close to Manuel Antonio Park. We arrived very early as we had booked the park entrance at 7am and they let us leave our car. Staff on front desk and at breakfast were super friendly. They gave us a voucher for their sister restaurant and we had an excellent meal there. Room is basic, but has everything you need, quiet A/C and coffee making facilities.
