How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWe absolutely loved everything! The house is incredibly spacious, the pool right outside the back door was a wonderful way to start each day. The owners were extremely friendly, helpful, accommodating, and easy to communicate with. I would give Vida Palace the highest possible recommendation, I hope we can come back someday!

Verified reviewI loved the entire property! The bathrooms were very nice and chic! Every room has access to a balcony! The beds were clean and comfortable! The location was nearby all attractions and main strip!

Verified reviewLoved that it had 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The beds were comfortable . The a/c worked great. We loved the pool. The kitchen had what we needed to prepare meals. The bbq grill was a bonus. Ice maker worked well. The game room was crazy large. I need to come back with more people!

Verified reviewBeautiful modern home and super responsive host. The balconies provided beautiful nature views. We were surrounded by a variety of birds. It’s a paradise for bird lovers like ourselves.
Although surrounded by nature, the villa is close to a busy and noisy road.
Sophie, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a great review. The road at times can be a little noisy by the pool but its really a give and take in CR. Alot of homes higher up in the mountains have very dangerous roads, isolated and most require a 4x4 to access. Vida Palace although surrounded by Nature is incredibly easy to access, walking distance to several restaurants and super markets and the road is in very good condition so any car can access the property anytime of the year. Verified reviewFirst of all, the obvious, the property is gorgeous! In nestled on top of a hill overlooking forest and the ocean. The inside is exactly as it looks in the photos. The amenities were amazing down to the last details. For example, a shower outside to rinse off after the pool, or a bbq area and all the appliances you need to cook including pots, pans, plates, cups, etc. Next, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible and was incredibly nice and accommodating. I’ve stayed in a lot of air bnbs and they were by far the nicest and most accommodating hosts I’ve ever had. 10/10 recommend booking this property.

No dishwasher Road noise No blinds in bedrooms
Hi John, Thank so much for leaving such a great review. We hear a common theme from reviews about the property…. Relaxing. Peace. Peaceful. Peaceful place. We sure do agree! As mentioned when we spoke we designed the home around the views and went with a open floor plan with extreme darking window tint and only one other group that gave 10 stars as well motioned the need for blinds. The blinds have been ordered unfortunately everything in Costa Rica is hand made and takes time. We have an install date for this week and appreciate the feedback so we can continue to create the ultimate escape in life. The one thing we advertise but can’t control is the wildlife or nature at Acres and Vida Palace. I’m so happy to hear the monkeys and Tucans did not disappoint as usually there are daily sightings of both and right from the pool. Verified reviewThis place was absolutely amazing, when pulling up I felt like a celebrity. The house is modern with all the amenities that you could ask for. The property is gated within a gated community we felt extremely safe here. The infinity pool with ocean views really set the days off. And barbecuing on the deck while watching the sunset over the Pacific was amazing. The hosts were very responsive and check in with us upon booking to see if we needed absolutely anything so that we could enjoy our stay more. I will be renting this house every time I'm in Costa Rica
There is nothing that I didn't like, it would be hard to improve it.
