How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe engaging, bright, helpful hosts,.We felt at home and looked out for. Agnes even arranged a trip at dawn to see the turtles coming on to the beach, to lay their eggs💫🐢💛 Loved the rustic ambience, aesthetics, beauty, and character of the place honed from years of care and craftsmanship. Beautiful swimming pool. Wholesome breakfast and use of facilities during the day. Easy walk to the beach and restaurants
The dirt track up to it is a tad daunting in atuktuk taxi bike, quite an adventure😀

Verified reviewA spur of a moment trip that turned into a 2 week great life adventure! Agnes and Joe were wonderful hosts, warm, friendly, funny and very knowledgeable… the villa was beautiful, eco friendly and comfortable! Located in the heart of a rainforest at the top of a mountain, spectacular views, a place to relax and unwind where we were served a delicious and hearty breakfast each day. We encountered howling monkeys, iguanas and birds of every color and met some amazing international travelers! Trip topped off by a nighttime hike to a beach where we witnessed hundred of olive Ridley sea turtles come ashore, dig holes and birth hundreds of eggs only to return to the sea! We’d go back in a flash!
Loved it all!

Verified reviewThe view here is incredible, and the wildlife adds to the Costa Rica vibe. I woke to a rainbow and kicked back on the patio during the evening lightning show. Howler monkeys overhead in the mango tree. Iguanas, incredible birds (including the Jay in the photo), butterflies everywhere and dense jungle canopy for plenty of shade when needed. Between surf sessions, I'd dip in the pool and listen to the wildlife while enjoying the view. Everything is well kept up, and the staff is very helpful and social. It's super close to the less populated Pelada beaches but also close to Guiones and local pickleball (which I'm obsessed with). The breakfast was delicious - yogurt and granola, eggs, fresh papaya, mangos and more! Insanely good coffee and plenty of it. :-D First class experience at super-reasonable rates.

Verified reviewWe stayed at Villa Mango with Agnes and Joe, and it was an unforgettable experience. They were absolutely wonderful hosts – we felt like we were visiting our closest friends. Every morning, we shared breakfast enjoying great conversations. The villa is set right in the middle of the jungle, and each day we were surrounded by nature – monkeys, iguanas, and even hummingbirds. It’s a magical place with incredible people, a warm atmosphere, and a truly special energy. We couldn’t have asked for more. Highly recommended! We really want to visit you guys one more time! See you 🙂

Verified reviewPerfect, great, amazing stay!!! I might not have enough characters to express the peace and the beautiful experience we had at Vila Mango!! Starting with the host Agnes who is so so welcoming, funny and present, then the monkeys that throw mangos from the trees and come in groups and pass by like doing a parade, the birds who are lovely and The VIEW!!! Both from the terrace - you can see the ocean but also from our room - hamac in the jungle!! We truly loved it for the peace, the animals, the quiet nights, the hosts vibe and especially the view!! Truly recommended!! Also, you can walk to the beaches from there house.
The road to get up there has plenty of holes, but it was only 5 min so it’s not that bad.

A few too many bugs inside the rooms. We let them be except for spiders. Ants I didn’t care about. Mosquitos, welcome to CR!

Verified reviewThis is a little slice of heaven. The breakfast is off the charts with local food and fresh juice and coffee. I love that it is served family style. The view is amazing and we were never bored with watching monkeys and so many birds. I did not want to leave. Joe is so helpful with his map at check in. He also ordered our food because our Spanish was limited. It is very private and quiet. A perfect place to recharge!!!
There were many spiders in our room. We were in the jungle and that is to be expected. But we bought some insect spray at the local store and sprayed a border around the room that seemed to keep the critters at bay.

Verified reviewVilla Mango was the perfect place to stay. The hosts were incredibly friendly, helpful and the food was delicious. The view from this location is out of this world. Located in the serene peaceful part of town, yet it was easy to walk to the more bustling parts of town. I loved the hand craftsmanship of the Villa, the eco-chic room was perfect. Would definitely stay there again!
I wish I could have stayed longer, but had to leave for my work trip.

Verified reviewAgnes and Joe were wonderful hosts. They were not only helpful in giving me tips on the local area, but created a family feel every morning with communal breakfast, great conversation and lots of laughter. They made me feel right at home from the second I stepped through the gate. They have a beautiful German Shepherd on the property who does her own thing and is sweet as peaches. The common area is such a perfect place to sit in a rocking chair and listen to the rain and the howler monkeys. There is also a saltwater pool that is perfect for lounging. This was a true Costa Rican experience, I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Nosara!
I didn't dislike anything, but I would suggest bringing ear plugs if you are a light sleeper as the howler monkeys were very loud early in the mornings!
