Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Cayman IslandsThe US$25 laundry fee which we thought was very excessive.
The view of the ocean and surrounding landscape was amazing. We really enjoyed our outdoor kitchen and hammock when making breakfast in the mornings. The wildlife in the area was incredible. From our balcony, we saw macaws, toucans, pelicans, monkeys, agoutis and a racoon. William was very helpful and informative, especially regarding animals. The apartment was very centrally located with close proximity to bars, restaurants and shops.

The sea views and the balcony. Loved watching the animals. Saimon was incredibly helpful and went out of his way to let us know when the sloths were visible. The beach was amazing.

United KingdomThe road to the beach (200m) is a steep descent with no pavement, so not ideal if you have impaired mobility / have a pushchair.
Jungle view room had a gorgeous view. Saw lots of wildlife (e.g sloth, agouti, white faced capuchin monkey). Caught an early bus over and William was very kind and let us check in early.

United KingdomWiFi wasn’t good but we were in the furthest room away.
It was just great for our stay. Walking distance to the lovely, quiet end of the beach and to the National Park and plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. The staff are lovely and there are sloths and monkeys right there in the trees on the property! Wouldn’t miss Manuel Antonio, we were worried it would be too touristy but it was really just great.

United StatesOn occasion it would’ve been nice to take a warm shower. There’s no hot water although most times it’s so hot you don’t need it. The kitchen is just a microwave, toaster oven and coffee maker. The rooms are functional and comfortable but modest size and basic.
We absolutely loved Villas de la Selva! The location is fantastic with stunning views. We saw so much wildlife on the property: agouti with baby, many capuchin monkeys, hummingbirds, parrots, lizards, and the highlight an anteater in the mango tree having a dinner of termites. The staff are so helpful, especially Saimon who picked mangoes for us, booked restaurants and tours - even got us a discount for paying cash. The pool is a nice size with gorgeous views. It is walkable to La Espadilla beach, though part of it is along a busy road.

SingaporePerfect location in the middle of nature away from the main road but walking distance to restaurants, supermarkets, beach and the park although the roads are quite steep. We had loads of animals at our doorstep: monkeys, sloth, iguanas, macaws, toucans, pelicans, deers, agouti, racoons, loads of birds... Better than all our tours. We stayed hours relaxing in the hammock or the almost private swimming pool watching wildlife with the view on the ocean. It was amazing. The accommodation itself is not the largest and is relatively basic with enough to cook. We had some ants coming in as well as other insects. Internet was not very stable inside.

IrelandNothing, but if you have mobility issues there are quite a few stairs down and up to the accommodations. If you can manage some stairs only ask for the higher villas.
If I could give Villas de la Selva a greater score than 10 I would! Firstly the staff William and Saimon are an absolute credit to this place, they can't do enough for you. We had amazing excursions and dive trips organised through these guys. Taxis arranged for us. They called for us everytime wildlife came to the villas and shared their knowledge with us day or night it was fantastic these guys love wildlife! We miss our chats and left having made two new friends! There is far more wildlife at the villas than in the local national park we were visited by Capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys and aguti daily, Sloths scarlet macaws, deer etc etc... The apartment had everything you could need if you wanted to self cater and our apartment had a lovely grassed garden which leads me to the view.... Omg the view of the rainforest and ocean has to be the best from any accomodation in Manuel Antonio. (we could see whales from our room). We went to a bar just up from us (El Avion) and it was packed at sunset with people wanting to experience the view and we thought smugly that we had a better view than that every night! The pool was lovely and clean and mostly just us or maybe another couple in it at a time. We have been to many places around the world but if you're into wildlife and views and incredible staff Villas de la Selva is hard to beat!

United KingdomThe room could use a little TLC with wear and tear on fabrics / furnishings.
Great location, great wildlife (monkies, iguanas, small mammals, sloths, birds) all outside the villa, the pool area was really nice, the views from the villa were spectacular and the staff and William the manager were super helpful, attentive and very friendly! Only a 10 minute walk to the beach although up / down a very steep hill just to be mindful of if booking. Would highly recommend.

United StatesA bit of mildew smell in the room. Of course not the hotels fault, but a killer walk uphill from the beach. That’s when we started using the bus more.
Loved that it was air conditioned. Great pool. Okay walk going down to the beach. A couple of nice restaurants within walking distance. Very close to the bus stop. Kitchen facilities in the room along with plates, glasses etc. loved the balcony looking toward the ocean.

United KingdomEverything was great
Villas de la Selva were a wonderful base for our family- 3 kids, parents and grandparents, in Manuel Antonio. The rooms are comfortable with little kitchenettes and spacious balconies with the most wonderful view of the ocean and abundant local wildlife. It was amazing to relax on the balcony and watch scarlet macaws and many other birds fly by, along with daily visits from cheeky monkeys and kinkajous. The staff were all really friendly and helpful, especially William, who was passionate about wildlife, and would happily show us the sloth who lived in the trees around the hotel, which was such a special experience. We all enjoyed the pool and the short walk to the beautiful beach, there were also some fantastic restaurants a short walk away, and the national park is easily accessible.

United KingdomGreat location, only 10 minutes walk to the beach and a couple of good restaurants walking distance. The view is beautiful and the pool is clean. The hosts were excellent and William in particular puts a lot of effort into making sure the guests see as many animals as possible - we fed two types of monkeys and saw a sloth really up close thanks to him.

United StatesThe rooms were pretty plain--nothing exceptional, but they worked fine. The wifi connections weren't always consistent, and you had to join and rejoin the networks from time to time. But the animals, location, and wonderful staff easily outweighed these small drawbacks.
Amazing location, tons of close-up wildlife, and amazing staff. Saimon made our stay truly exceptional, and the daily monkey visits were close to the highlight of our trip. The view of the ocean was lovely, and the proximity to restaurants and the park were very convenient. We would absolutely stay here again.
