We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaNothing, it is truly exceptional.
The place is truly amazing and the staff extremely nice. It is so worth it to spent time there. I just wish we could have stayed longer. To me, it is the best place in all Costa Rica. I will only return there. We loved the house with the pool surrounding by the beautiful nature with monkeys, birds and the beautiful and intimate beaches near by. This place is a treasure. There is also a great restaurant near by with stunning view. Go there and then you won’t be able to go anywhere else.

United StatesNo critique - except we were sad to leave!
A lot more space and privacy than we thought we would have. So long as you have a car, perfect spot. Although nice beach is still easy walking distance. Pool was clean and perfect for cooling off.

United StatesBe aware that there is a long bumpy dusty road to get in and out from Villas La Paz.
Super charming, authentic and comfortable. Has an outdoor kitchen, dining and living area covered by beautiful thatched roofs. The bedrooms are enclosed, air conditioned and have comfortable beds and private baths. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Nice shared pool. We enjoyed the resident iguanas and the many beautiful birds and heard the howler monkeys but never got to see them. You can walk or drive up the hill to the Condor Lodge for an excellent restaurant/bar. We loved Playa Real, which about a mile beyond Villas La Paz, beautiful sunsets and great tide pools and surf fishing.

United StatesYou have to lock yourself in a gate at night which weirded me out the first night. Especially with all the jungle noises and my kids in separate rooms. It’s outdoor living so be ready for some ants and spiders in the bathroom and kitchen areas. They only take cash and I don’t like traveling with that much cash on me.
The picture’s online do not give this villa justice. We were shocked that we had so much space. Our villa, which the kids names the Pink Palace, overlooks the pool and garden. The three bedrooms and two bathrooms open to the outdoors. You can hear the howler monkeys and birds all around. Plenty of space for multiple families. Close to Playa Conchal. Host gave us other beach suggestions as well.

SwedenIt is quite far off - which we loved. But good to know. The last bit of road is a bit rough.
We stayed for three nights in this place. The “villa” we got was very spacious and situated in the jungle. We stayed as a family of four and enjoyed having a fully equipped kitchen to cook our own meals and fix our own breakfast. Close to nice beaches - especially playa real which we named pirate beach, as well as playa Conchal - a 500m drive. From there you can walk through the whole bay to get to some nice snorkelling - and the area that gave the beach its name: a beach with no sand but just shells. Magic.

NetherlandsSurroundings feel a bit outdated. And it is not well stated that the bedrooms are separate outside (not handy with small children)
The seating area outside and the swimming pool are really beautiful in a tropical setting. It is truly beautiful with daily visit from monkeys in the morning at the swimming pool. So great to see.

United StatesThe road leading to the property was super bumpy in the beginning, but couple of days after we arrived, it got worked on and a lot better, so we feel grateful.
Love the location, super close to Playa Conchal. The room is very comfortable and there are two restaurants in walking distance. Love the Swimmkng pool too, so we have options of both ocean and pool swimming.

United StatesThe villa is not very baby friendly. We had to watch our 1 yo like hawks to keep her away from the gaps in the railing and the steep steps to the pool. The villa is a bit far from any shops and restaurants, so having a car is ideal. The road to Villas la Paz can be very dusty in the summer with a lot of atv traffic creating low visibility. It's also important to be cautious of pedestrians and motorbikes, especially at night.
This little slice of jungle paradise is so well designed to complement nature and attract wildlife. The trees and plants are a tranquil sight. We were so delighted to see a group of howler monkeys one morning feeding on the mango trees, so cool! Casa Rosada is really lovely. We enjoyed the comfortable air conditioned rooms and the huge, shaded outdoor dining area with hammocks. The pool was right outside our doorstep and was a welcome relief from the heat of summer. The staff was welcoming and the host Andrés had some great area beach recommendations. Playas Minas and Conchal are a short drive from this villa with easy parking. We really enjoyed our time here!

United KingdomIt's not a dislike because we managed fine but be warned the road to get there is quite long and is basically crumbled mountain stroon in a relatively straight line through the forest. So be prepared to sh*t a kidney when you reach the destination.
The house was lovely and really well equipped. The host was fantastic. It is located at the quieter end if playa conchal which suited us. Beautiful surroundings

CanadaThe first night saw a group of very noisy travelers come out (it was a Saturday night and I’m assuming the group came from the city). They were drunk, yelling, splashing in the pool and being very obnoxious and disrespectful until well after 10pm. We messaged Lizeth though and she was quickly able to get them to quieten down. The rest of the time was great though and very quiet. The only other things we didn’t like were the steep driveway and the ants in the kitchen. However, there are insects everywhere in Costa Rica, so this is mostly an observation, not a complaint.
Was a great place in a cool location - we liked the seclusion and proximately to wild, natural beaches. Lizeth, the caretaker, was very friendly and made us feel welcome. The pool was amazing and the grounds were kept very clean. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back for longer.

United StatesI think they gave away our accommodations, but were able to get us into another group of rooms. The pool needs a railing at the stairs. I almost couldn't get out, as the stairs were steep.
The location was amazing! Price point was very good. There was a language barrier, and I think they mixed up our reservation. They were able to make it work. I liked that you can have a group of friends here with separate sleeping quarters. The common area for our rooms was amazing. Best part of our stay. I would definitely stay here again.

CanadaLiked everything.
Wow! What a fantastic villa! It features an incredible open sitting area with a plunge pool and a fully equipped kitchen. The sleeping arrangements are excellent, with a master bedroom and ensuite bathroom accessible through one entrance, and additional bedrooms and washrooms through a second entrance – all beautifully decorated. The host was welcoming and responded promptly to any questions. The villa is very close to Playa Conchal, a gorgeous beach. We strongly recommend choosing this accommodation instead of a hotel.

CanadaThere is nothing we didn’t like, a few ants inside our kitchen but we kinda butted in on their spot to begin with right.
Away from it all. Easy walking distance to a quiet amazing beach. The pool was spotless, you had monkey business going on in the trees while at the pool. You had raccoons running past on the pathways, some kind of animal playing on your roof at night. It was the best.
