Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room wasn't cleaned during my stay, which normally isn't a problem, but due to the park and beach the floor got quite dirty. But I asked for a broom so was able to deal with that myself. Everything else was lovely. Quepos is a little rough around the edges, especially down by the water, but I felt fine walking around on my own during my time there.
It's' a really lovely hostel in a great location if you hope to use public transport. It was more money than I would normally pay for a hostel, but you do get what you pay for. The room was comfortable and practical, the wifi was good, I really appreciated having a fridge in the room, the bed was super comfortable, the pool was lovely to use in the evening and the kitchen and shared areas are well thought out and very user friendly. The staff were all welcoming and helpful. The hostel is two blocks from the bus terminal from where you can get the local bus to Manuel Antonio park. I also got a bus to the Mangroves so was glad I chose to stay in Quepos instead of Manuel Antonio as it's a far easier option.

Ireland$6 for towel rental is a crazy price. Cold showers and the showers need renovation.
Good location, nice clean rooms. The pools are lovely with seating areas around them. There's a big fully equipped kitchen that we used every night which was great. Free tea and coffee too!

NetherlandsIn the four days/three nights I was there the dorm was not cleaned and the bins (including those in the toilet) were not emptied. You have to pay 10 pound deposit for the key of the locker which is a bit weird.
Beautiful decor. Nice pool area. Comfortable beds. Nice dorms. Good kitchen. Lots of nice seats like rocking chairs and couches and tables with chairs. Lots of green. Free coffee and tea. Close to the bus to Manuel Antonio park.

CanadaThere was a slight difference in the price on arrival which was weird. The doors of the showers don't lock but it's still doable (you can make it stay tight and people won't come in if they hear the sound of the shower)
Loved the pool. Great location. Great boardwalk for runners or those who like to walk. The rooms are very small but comfortable. The pool is really great honestly. The kitchen is huge and you can put your food in a fridge and cook your food. Staff can help you out for tours or for other questions

CanadaInstalling hooks in the showers would be convenient
Greeted warmly at chech-in by Eddie, who is a great ambassatour for the hostel. Hostel went through extensive renovations a year ago and presents a vibe similar to a modern hotel. The center court swimming pool surrounded by shrubs places you in the middle of a tropical setting. Conveniently located close to the bus terminal, eateries and bars. . I highly recommend and would stay here again.

United StatesPlace was perfect for the weekend, certainly not a party hostel, but everyone was nice and friendly. Safe with a locked gate to the road and the option for your own rooms (with or without AC). Pool and amenities were both amazing clean and much needed. Day and night stay was great. Would definitely recommend and will likely be back

MoroccoThe place is okay for the price. The common area feels a bit deserted and lacks any community vibe. The room was basic, which I didn’t mind given the cost. However, the staff wasn’t very helpful—they weren’t great with recommendations or assistance in general. Overall, it’s not a bad place, and its location near the bus station is very practical for getting around

United StatesNo lockbox - had to leave valuables at the front One staff made a snarky remark (guy at the desk) when I asked if I needed my key to get out of the hostel when the gate is closed (which is a fire hazard to be clear) but otherwise the staff was nice
Beautiful property with the pool in the middle to cool off during the day. I liked the outdoor kitchens - plenty of place to cook and chill and work if needed. Dorm was new and mattresses were comfortable. AC was decent.

FranceThe dorm is not super functional. No hooks in the shower for clothes or towel. Also no storage in the room. It's missing a personal light in each bed. Also for such a big place it's missing some tools in the kitchen, and cleaning could be done more often/earlier.
